ATM fraud, fake RC syndicate busted in Delhi; 3 held, Photoshop used to forge documents

Delhi Police have dismantled an ATM fraud and fake RC syndicate, arresting three individuals. The investigation began after a complaint of fraudulent ATM card exchange and unauthorized withdrawals. NEW DELHI: Delhi Police busted an ATM fraud and fake registration certificate (RC) syndicate with the arrest of three individuals involved in a sophisticated scam using Photoshop to forge vehicle documents. The case was initiated on a complaint by Ikrar Salmani, who reported that two unknown men fraudulently exchanged his uncle's ATM card and withdrew Rs 43,451 from his account on May 24. Following the registration of an FIR under relevant sections of the BNS, a team launched an investigation. By analysing over 70 CCTV camera footages, the suspects were identified. On May 31, acting on a tip-off, the team apprehended Alok Yadav (30), a resident of Gautampuri, from Nathu Colony Chowk. A fake RC and scooter used in the crime were seized from him. Further interrogation led to the arrest of Vipin Kumar alias Rajender (38), a broker from Loni, Ghaziabad, who revealed the involvement of Dheeraj Singh (31), the mastermind behind the forged RCs. "Dheeraj was found using Photoshop and a vehicle info app on his mobile to create fake documents," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Prashant Priya Gautam. Recoveries include the scooter, fake number plate, five ATM cards, and mobile phones containing Photoshop data. Delhi Police tightens security on Eid; public sacrifice also banned

The Delhi Police has stepped up security arrangements across the national capital to maintain law and order and ensure peaceful celebration of Eid ul-Azha on Saturday, an official said. To maintain law and order during festivities, elaborate deployments have been made in sensitive areas, with the Rapid Action Force (RAF), paramilitary forces, and local police teams mobilised. Multiple check posts have been set up across Delhi, and electronic surveillance has been intensified to monitor suspicious activity. A senior police officer said, "Strict vigilance is being maintained across the city. We are closely monitoring social media for any misinformation or attempts to incite communal tension. Action will be taken against violators as per law." The officer added that open-air animal sacrifices, prayers in public spaces without permission, and the sacrifice of prohibited animals are not allowed during the festival. "Foot patrolling, drone surveillance in sensitive zones, and enhanced night vigilance are part of our comprehensive safety strategy," the officer added. The Delhi Traffic Police is also ensuring that there is a smooth flow of traffic and people do not violate norms during celebrations. To foster communal harmony and coordination, police officials have conducted a series of Aman Committee meetings with local religious leaders and community members in various districts. In East Delhi, Station House Officer (SHO) Pandav Nagar visited Kotla Idgah and held discussions with local Imams to ensure coordinated crowd management and security arrangements. Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Abhishek Dhania confirmed that such meetings are being held across the city to streamline preparations. Another senior officer noted, "Delhi Police and community leaders are working hand-in-hand to ensure that the Eid festivities are celebrated in a secure and harmonious environment. Mithi river desilting scam: ED summons bollywood actor Dino Morea for questioning next week in Rs 65 crore fraud case

Dino Morea NEW DELHI: The Enforcement Directorate on Saturday summoned Bollywood actor Dino Morea for questioning next week in connection with an alleged Rs 65 crore Mithi river desilting scam, following raids at 15 locations, including the actor's Mumbai residence, on Friday. The case involves accusations of inflated bills, fake work logs, and systematic diversion of public funds meant for flood prevention and drainage maintenance in Mumbai. The raids were conducted across Mumbai and Kochi under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act at locations linked to contractors and officials suspected of embezzlement in the Mithi River desilting operations. The actor's summons comes days after he and his brother were questioned by Mumbai Police in a related corruption case. The ED initiated its investigation after taking note of earlier inquiries by the Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Comptroller and Auditor General that had flagged potential financial misconduct in the desilting project. Sources within the agency indicated that financial documents, electronic devices, and transaction records are being seized during the ongoing searches. The ED suspects a network of contractors and middlemen submitted fraudulent work completion reports to misappropriate funds intended for infrastructure development. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo The Mithi River, which serves as a crucial drainage artery in Mumbai, gained national attention following the devastating floods of 2005. This led the BMC and other civic agencies to implement regular desilting and cleaning operations for flood prevention. Recent audits and investigations have revealed significant discrepancies between the actual desilting work performed and what was reported, raising concerns about widespread corruption. The case has become part of a broader investigation into alleged financial irregularities in Mumbai's civic infrastructure works, highlighting the need for greater oversight in local body operations.
