Spider-Man Actor Andrew Garfield Wants to Return to Marvel in a ‘Strange' Way
Andrew Garfield recently expressed his desire to return as during his appearance at the Middle East Film & Comic Con event. The We Live in Time actor last reprised the role of the webslinger in the 2021 movie Spider-Man: No Way Home, alongside Tobey Maguire and Tom Holland. Fans have since been speculating that Garfield might appear in Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars. However, it is just a theory, and there has been no confirmation regarding this.
While speaking at the Middle East Film & Comic Con held in Abu Dhabi, actor Andrew Garfield conveyed his wish to make a comeback as Spider-Man after No Way Home.
He asserted that he 'loved playing Spider-Man' and that he 'would love to play the character again in some capacity.'
The actor also revealed the one condition on which he would portray Spider-Man again. He added, 'I think it would have to be very weird. I think I would like to do something very strange…something very unique, and offbeat and surprising…kind of like the creative freedom they have with the animated Spider-Verse movies,' referencing the multiverse and how it can be used to 'honor' the character in various ways.
With Spider-Man: Brand New Day slated for a release on July 31, 2026, fans have been theorizing whether Garfield will make an appearance in the Tom Holland-led movie. However, in September 2024, Garfield shut down those rumors.
Garfield first made his debut as the Marvel superhero in Sony's The Amazing Spider-Man in 2012 and then reprised the role in its 2014 sequel, The Amazing Spider-Man 2. While fans were expecting a third part to release as well, it never got made. Alex Kurtzman, who was one of the scriptwriters for TASM 2, told ScreenRant in January 2025 that they 'never wrote it. I did 2 and that was it for me.'
Now it remains to be seen if and when Garfield returns in the Spider-Man suit.

Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune are headed to streaming
Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune are coming to streaming for the first time. The two game shows will arrive on Hulu and Peacock in September, according to a report from The New York Times. Under the multi-year deal, new episodes of Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune will appear on both streaming services one day after they air on linear TV. The agreement will include older episodes of each show, too. For decades, Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune have been staples on linear TV, and their expansion to Peacock and Hulu is part of a broader pattern that's bringing key series, like WWE's Monday Night Raw, to streaming. As pointed out by The Hollywood Reporter, this streaming deal isn't directly connected to the legal battle involving Sony — the producer of Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! — and its distributor, CBS. Last year, Sony sued CBS over claims it breached their agreement by not doing enough to boost revenue from licensing the shows. A judge granted Sony the rights to distribute Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! in April, but an appellate court ruled last week that CBS can keep distributing the shows during the legal battle.

And I think that our Oscar for 'Let It Go,' that created Kristen's career," he says of his wife, who is just a Tony shy of completing the EGOT herself. "Winning an Oscar for 'Let It Go' gave me an in with the theater world, which at the time was so male dominated," Anderson-Lopez explains. "There were very few seasons that ever had a female songwriter in the running. So I needed fuel to be able to open doors here in New York," she notes, adding with a playful smile that "when it comes to Bobby being the youngest and the only double EGOT winner, I like to use it to make fun of him sometimes, like when he does something particularly stupid, and I'm like, 'No, no, don't listen to the youngest double EGOT winner.'" How to watch Sony's PlayStation State of Play at Summer Game Fest

Sony is throwing its own party on Wednesday, June 4 at 5PM ET in the form of a State of Play. The stream will showcase "must-play" PS5 games from developers based around the world and you can watch it on on YouTube or Twitch. To make things even easier, you can watch it right here by clicking the big red button above when the time is right. (English subtitled and Japanese versions of the State of Play will be available too.) The State of Play will run for over 40 minutes, so there should be a bunch of games included. Sony hasn't given any hints as to what it will show off as yet, but it'll surely be worth checking out the stream. Wednesday's event will be Sony's third State of Play of the year. The first was in February, which included the reveal of the very tasty-sounding Soros from Returnal studio Housemarque, a PS5 remaster of Days Gone and a release date for Borderlands 4 . In April, the company hosted a brief State of Play entirely focused on Borderlands 4 where it showed off gameplay and some new multiplayer mechanics. With this State of Play, Sony is padding out a packed SGF schedule that includes what is routinely Xbox's biggest showcase of the year on Sunday, June 8. And then there's also the little matter of the Nintendo Switch 2's arrival on June 5. It's shaping up to be a fun, if very busy, week.
