Marvel to skip Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con 2025 amid Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars delay
Panels focused on comics and video games are still on the schedule, and the studio will host a booth promoting The Fantastic Four: First Steps Marvel Studios is officially stepping away from San Diego Comic-Con's Hall H stage this year. While the studio will still have a presence at the July 24–27 fan convention, reports have confirmed it won't be hosting its signature Saturday night presentation in the massive Hall H arena. The decision comes just days after Disney and Marvel pushed the release of Avengers: Doomsday to December 18, 2026. The highly anticipated film had previously been a key piece of the studio's promotional plans, and sources say the revised timeline prompted Marvel to sit this year out in terms of big-screen reveals. With Secret Wars also slated for the following December, the studio is now positioning itself for a larger splash at Comic-Con 2026.

Thor Rumor Has Me Nervous About Chris Hemsworth's Return In Avengers: Doomsday
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Hot on the heels of the release date of Avengers: Doomsday being marked for December 2026, another big rumor is making the rounds about the big movie coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This time the chatter is all about Chris Hemsworth's Thor, and what the Russos have planned for one of the biggest OG actors in the Disney-owned franchise. If readers were psyched for the upcoming Marvel movie to hit theaters, this latest rumor from SuperHeroHype might give them pause. We've heard a lot of chatter about heroes who will fall when taking on Robert Downey Jr's Doctor Doom, and it looks like the God of Thunder might take a big fall when facing the supervillain. Chris Hemsworth was one of the few OG Avengers who escaped the Infinity War and Endgame unscathed, as we saw Black Widow and Iron Man die, and Captain America become far too old to keep his mantle. It's being rumored now that Marvel Studios has plans to give Thor a big send-off, and that it will happen either in Doomsday or Secret Wars. While there are no specifics as to how this will happen, one has to assume that death is on the table. Doctor Doom killing off Thor would be a major win for the villain, and an easy way for the Russos to pull on the heartstrings of longtime Marvel fans. There is no confirmation that this will happen, though it doesn't seem out of the realm of possibility, given how the last major Avengers movies went. The good news about Thor potentially dying in Avengers: Doomsday or Secret Wars is that no one in the Marvel universe can stay dead forever. We could always see Chris Hemsworth's Thor return in the future through some weird resurrection twist, so if he's willing to do more movies, Thor can always live on. More On Thor A Case For Why The First Thor Movie Is Still The Best Thor Movie Even if Thor is dead, there's always a chance that Marvel could opt to do a movie set in Valhalla. The Viking afterlife was seen in Thor: Love And Thunder, and could very well be the backdrop for a future adventure in the franchise. Wouldn't it be cool to see him back in the saddle and able to team up with Jane, Heimdall, Odin, and even Loki for another adventure? Let's also remember another warrior who died in battle who might be in Valhalla: Tony Stark. Imagine if, in some way, Thor can battle his way back from the afterlife with Iron Man and take down Doctor Doom together. That said, I'm just trying to make people feel better about the very realistic scenario of Thor possibly being killed off; we may not see Chris Hemsworth do another Marvel movie after he finally hangs up the hammer. It'll be quite a bit of time before we see what happens in Avengers: Doomsday. Until then, expect to see a lot more rumors about who may be involved and what may happen, and hopefully, we can avoid some leaks that spoil the movie for everyone.

Two Major MCU Movies Delayed By Marvel
The Marvel Cinematic Universe had two major MCU projects that were initially scheduled to be released sooner rather than later. Now, however, both of these MCU movies have been delayed. It seems as though Disney is moving around several major titles to compensate for this decision, with The Devil Wears Prada 2 to take the earlier film's original May release date next year. This is certainly a surprise for fans who thought the releases were permanently locked, but it looks as though the studio needed more time to cook these major projects. As shared via THR these are the two MCU titles that have been delayed: ' Avengers: Doomsday is pushing back its release date in theaters from May 1, 2026, to Dec. 18 2026, while Avengers: Secret Wars will now open on Dec. 17 2027 instead of May 7, 2027.' As mentioned, the first delay will allow The Devil Wears Prada 2 to be released on May 1. While an exact reason for these delays has yet to be released, the studio notes that insiders have said 'Doomsday and Secret Wars are two of the biggest titles Marvel has ever made, and the date shifts help the production schedules' since Avengers: Doomsday is currently in production. Hopefully these delays will work out for the best, then, and allow time for these films to come together in a proper fashion. Especially with so much pressure to get Doomsday and Secret Wars just right, Marvel Studios is going to need to take as much time as it takes to perfect these projects. Additionally, a December release date could be a better spot for both titles, as blockbusters released during that particular month have performed extremely well at the box office. This goes for Marvel films as well, especially after the Spider-Man threequel Spider-Man: No Way Home made a worldwide smash at the box office with a December release date. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for more MCU news as we have it, including any other updates regarding the productions of Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars . It's an exciting time to be a fan.

In addition to shifting the release dates for Doomsday and Secret Wars , Marvel also removed several untitled films from its calendar, including films that were slated to open on Feb. 13, 2026, Nov. 6, 2026 and Nov. 5, 2027. With the changes, it means only two Marvel films will open in theatres next year: Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Doomsday . A fter directing Captain America: Winter Soldier , Captain America: Civil War and the last two Avengers flicks, Anthony and Joe Russo are returning to helm the Avengers films, which are currently shooting in England. During an appearance on an episode of The Hollywood Reporter 's Awards Chatter podcast last summer, Downey said he was convinced to return to Marvel after getting a pitch from studio boss Kevin Feige. 'He said, 'It just keeps occurring to me, if you were to come back …'' Downey said . ' H e brought up Victor von Doom. I looked into this character. Later on, he goes, 'Let's get Victor von Doom right.' In an interview with Postmedia earlier this year, Anthony said the brothers got an inkling to rejoin Marvel after they had a chance to 'go away and do some other wonderful work over the past few years.' 'In order to do Infinity War and Endgame justice, we really had to think we really were concluding our journey through the MCU, and we were concluding other characters' journeys through the MCU,' Anthony said. 'A portion of the MCU was ending with those stories, and I think that helped us deliver something that was emotionally impactful, because we did believe that and we treated it that way.' As Marvel continued with films and TV shows that explored a new roster of heroes, as well as expanding the adventures of older characters from its Infinity Saga, the siblings say they were intrigued by returning for a new team-up that will feature superheroes from across Marvel's parallel universes. 'The narrative just started to re-seed itself in our brains,' Anthony added. 'We started to find a road forward through the work Marvel had done since Endgame . It was just a very natural process of a sort-of regrowth of us finding a story that we wanted to tell, and really needed to tell.' In other release news, Disney announced release dates for Ridley Scott's apocalyptic thriller The Dog Stars (March 27, 2026) and The Devil Wears Prada 2 (May 1, 2026). The next Marvel movie — The Fantastic 4: First Steps — opens on July 25. mdaniell@ Read More Celebrity Music Toronto Maple Leafs Music Canada

3 MCU Movies Lose Release Dates Following Avengers: Doomsday & Secret Wars Delay
Three movies have now lost their release dates following the recent delays of Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. Marvel Studios' Avengers: Doomsday, which is now in production, was dated for May 1, 2026, while Avengers: Secret Wars was then supposed to come out on May 7, 2027. Just yesterday, however, it was announced that both movies are being pushed back: Avengers: Doomsday now arrives on December 18, 2026, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on December 17, 2027. Following this announcement, Marvel has officially removed an untitled movie that was supposed to be released on February 13, 2026, from its schedule. Additionally, two untitled Marvel movies dated for November 6, 2026, and November 5, 2027, have now been updated to untitled Disney movies, meaning they're no longer connected to the MCU. While it's not clear what any of these three MCU movies were going to be, Spider-Man: Brand New Day still has its July 31, 2026, release date at the time of this article's publication. Many fans have been wondering if that movie will also be pushed back, given that it was originally supposed to come out between Doomsday and Secret Wars and could potentially factor into those movies' overall plot. Both Avengers movies are being directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, also known as the Russo Brothers. Official plot details remain under wraps at this time. The cast of Avengers: Doomsday includes Chris Hemsworth, Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paull Rudd, Wyatt Russell, Tenoch Huerta Mejía, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Simu Liu, Florence Pugh, Kelsey Grammer, Lewis Pullman, Danny Ramirez, Joseph Quinn, David Harbour, Winston Duke, Hannah John-Kamen, Tom Hiddleston, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, Channing Tatum, Pedro Pascal, and Robert Downey Jr. More cast members are expected to be announced at a later date.
