Phineas and Ferb season 5 revival surprises fans with Jonathan Banks cameo and star-studded guest lineup

Phineas and Ferb is making a comeback next week with season 5, arriving on Disney Channel and Disney+ after a decade-long hiatus. The revival will continue to follow the adventurous Flynn-Fletcher family, along with their pet platypus's battles against evil. Known for its vibrant main cast, the show has also featured numerous high-profile guest stars over the years, including Ben Stiller, J.K. Simmons, and Seth MacFarlane. One of the standout moments in the new season is the cameo of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul actor Jonathan Banks. He voices the driving instructor overseeing Candace's driving test. In an interview with Screen Rant, creators Dan Povenmire and Jeff "Swampy" Marsh shared their excitement about Banks' role and other guest stars. Povenmire recalled a humorous anecdote from Banks about a scene in Beverly Hills Cop, while Marsh expressed admiration for Banks' extensive career and the joy guest stars experience by participating in an animated show that's family-friendly. The inclusion of such notable voices enhances the show's charm. Past guest roles have often played on the personas of the actors, like Seth MacFarlane's character Jeff McGarland. Side characters, known for their quirky humor, are a major strength of the series. With Povenmire and Marsh teasing even more surprising guest stars, fans can look forward to memorable new episodes. Overall, the new season promises to be full of fun and unexpected moments. The creators' enthusiasm and the involvement of acclaimed actors like Banks suggest this Phineas and Ferb revival could introduce some exciting twists, continuing to entertain old fans and new viewers alike.

The Last of Us composer narrowly avoided a 'terrible' mistake

The Last of Us composer, Gustavo Santaolalla, has shared that the show could have made a "terrible mistake" - but it was narrowly avoided. For those yet to see the HBO drama series, it follows smuggler Joel and teenager Ellie as they travel across a post-apocalyptic world in search of a cure to an infection that caused the collapse of society. It's based on the popular video game franchise developed by Naughty Dog. Avid gamers who have both played the game and watched the series will also know that the show remained loyal to the original source material. This was done through the game's director Neil Druckmann working closely with writers Craig Mazin and Halley Gross. Not to mention also using Santaolalla, who composed the music for the game and its TV adaptation. In a new interview with Screen Rant, Santaolalla revealed that it was important for them to keep the main themes of the game, as well as transition the original "sonic fabric" into the show. He said: "I think it was a great help to bridge this transition from one thing to the other. I think it would have been a terrible mistake to change that. The fact that we kept [the music] was a very good decision." The composer then delved into the difference between writing for video games and television. He explained that he separates his work into two categories: art and craft. While the art "involves the creation of the themes, melodies, harmony" (aka the sonic fabric), the craft deals with making it all fit together. Santaolalla also added that even though there is a lot of new music in the series, it doesn't feel like a leap away from the game. "We have lots of new music too, but that music, in a way, is siblings with what I created before," he concluded.

Stranger Things season 5 - What fans can look forward to, plus five predictions

The latest series of Stranger Things is due to be released later this year, with everyone talking about the highly anticipated release, including some predictions on how the horror series will finally come to an end Although the show's creators, the Duffer Brothers, haven't given too much away about what will happen in season five, they have dropped some exciting hints. But what exactly can Stranger Things fans expect in season 5? It's been almost 10 years since Stranger Things first graced our TV screens back in July 2016 becoming a huge Netflix hit but the show will be back for its fifth - and final - season later this year. ‌ We don't yet have an official date for the release of season 5, but we do know that well-known faces Millie Bobby Brown, Sadie Sink, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Winona Ryder, David Harbour, and Jamie Campbell Bower will all return for the last series. ‌ And while most details about Stranger Things season 5 have been kept under wraps so far, the creators have been teasing fans with a few clues about what they can expect. Though Holly Wheeler (Nell Fisher) has not been a huge character in the show so far, new Stranger Things set pictures have prompted audiences to speculate about her increased involvement. The pictures in question show Vecna standing near Holly, hinting that she could become integral to his final plan, according to Screen Rant. ‌ But perhaps even more interestingly, season 5, episode 2, is titled "The Vanishing of...", leading many long-time fans of the show to note the similarity to the season 1 disappearance of Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) and speculate that the title could refer to Holly. If Stranger Things season 5 does see Holly become Vecna's next victim, Karen could become a much bigger character as she tries to find her daughter. And if the theories about Holly are correct, the Wheeler family may finally get more screen time and a bigger storyline. Producer Shawn Levy previously revealed that the Netflix series will bow out on a high with a more than satisfying conclusion. He told Total Film: "We don't want to be one of those shows that is flailing while it searches for a way to stick the landing … We really want to stick the landing". ‌ The show still has a lot of questions to answer - in particular how its main characters will finally defeat Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower). Given that Stranger Things season 4 ended with Max (Sadie Sink) still in a coma and the Upside Down creeping into the real world, it seems likely that the group will face even more challenging circumstances than ever, Screen Rant adds. Meanwhile, fans have been coming up with their chilling predictions after a short video teaser was released ahead of the Netflix TUDUM event which takes place today, Saturday May 31. One Buzzfeed user predicts that Eddie comes back: "Kas died via bat bites, like Eddie, but was resurrected as a half-vampire to eventually defeat Vecna himself. He also wielded a sword and shield, like Eddie, and they thought Vecna was defeated until Will said that he still felt him JUST LIKE IN THE CAMPAIGN. ‌ "The Duffers don't add details like that for no reason. Plus, I'm just holding out hope that Eddie comes back somehow. I refuse to believe that they just left him in the Upside Down, but who knows." While another suggests: "Eleven will definitely have to sacrifice herself to destroy the Upside Down forever." A third thinks there will be a twist unveiled, predicting: "I read a theory that Vecna is actually Eleven's biological father, and I can't get it out of my head." Another Buzzfeed user suggests: "I think that Max is going to be used as some sort of go-between for Vecna and Eleven, either for communication or even used as a puppet for battle." ‌ Meanwhile, one fan predicts: "I could see those lost to the Upside Down (Barb, Chrissy, Billy, etc.) coming back in some sort of spirit form to help defeat the monsters in the final battle." Since the clip was released, fans have been scratching their heads over what it could mean. The clip is unclear but seems to feature several overlapping sounds, including banging and radio static waves. It also includes someone's voice, but it is hard to make out before the note "can't transcribe message" pops up. All we do know is that viewers can expect film-length episodes in the latest series as it concludes the fan favourite show, and that its creators say they won't be disappointed.

Stranger Things' Caleb McLaughlin On Wrapping Up Final Season: ‘I Was Like…'

Last Updated: The fifth and final season of Stranger Things will release this year, with the Hawkins residents taking centre-stage. Netflix's Stranger Things Season 5 is all set to wrap up the beloved sci-fi saga, bringing an end to all the unanswered questions and mysteries of the Upside Down. As the series draws to a close, fans are excited about the core characters reuniting for one last time to defeat Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower). While the details of the finale season are still scarce, the makers as well as the actors never forget to keep us updated. In a recent instance, Caleb McLaughlin, known for portraying the character of Lucas Sinclair, recently opened up about what fans can expect in the upcoming season. He also shared his emotions about bidding farewell to the journey. 'Man, I mean, I've kind of gone through those emotions already. So now it's for the fans to take that in and digest. I feel great," he told ScreenRant. Noting that playing the character of Lucas for the past decade has been a 'blessing," McLaughlin revealed being on the verge of crying on the last day of the shoot. 'I've known the cast and crew for so long, and they're my family. And last year, of course, on the last day, I was like, 'I'm not going to cry. I'm not going to cry." And then ended up just bawling, man. Ten years of just love, laughter, sadness, and peace. So I was able to get all those feelings out," he added. Caleb McLaughlin also spoke about the bond he shares with the cast members, sharing that he felt happy to be a 'part of just something so amazing, and that has touched a lot of people." On being asked how Stranger Things has touched fans over the past years, the actor continued, 'It's gotten people past a lot of their trauma or things that they've experienced, and they watch the show and it's helped them escape, you know what I mean? It's helped them see a different way to live and find new friends and believe in friendship and believe in people… So I just feel great. I feel great." What To Expect In Stranger Things 5? Season 4 ended on a bittersweet note as the gang managed to defeat Vecna, only to lead to a 'brief" death of Max that opened a gateway to the Upside Down. The next part is expected to pick up on the following events. The fifth and final season is expected to return later this year, with Millie Bobby Brown, Sadie Sink, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Winona Ryder, David Harbour, and Jamie Campbell Bower reprising their roles. 'The Boys' Colby Minifie on Series Finale: ‘Extremely Satisfying'

If you weren't excited enough about how one of television's most chaos-loaded shows opts to bid farewell in its series finale, this should do the trick. Among the characters in the hit show The Boys, who dislikes (anti) superhero Homelander the most outside of the core group of Butcher, Hughie, Annie and the gang, Ashley, played by Colby Minifie, is high up on the list. Ashley has been bullied and pushed around by Homelander, among others, in Vought since Season 1, so when Minifie spoke about how the season finale plays out, it turned a few heads. This is mainly because she summed it up in a way that could tease what many fans of The Boys are hoping to see—the end of Homelander's reign. During an interview with ScreenRant, two words effectively summed up Minifie's thoughts after learning how the series finale plays out. "Extremely satisfying." "I just read the finale last night. It's an extremely satisfying finale," Minifie said. "That's what I will say. It's extremely satisfying. I was getting emotional reading it." Considering Ashley took Compound V at the end of Season 4, the same thing that has sent Butcher into a tailspin, but also allowed him to go toe-to-toe with Homelander and other superheroes, it makes the comments even more interesting. Fans will have to continue speculating for a good bit longer before we finally receive an answer on how the creators will end the series, as the expected premiere for Season 5 is in 2026. However, if the first four seasons are any indication, the last hurrah won't disappoint.'The Boys' Colby Minifie on Series Finale: 'Extremely Satisfying' first appeared on Men's Journal on May 26, 2025
