Nile Rodgers to guest-curate display at new David Bowie Centre
Photographs of Bowie, Rodgers and guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan recording Let's Dance in New York will also feature.
The David Bowie Centre will open within the museum's new East Storehouse in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, in Stratford, east London, on September 13, where it will host items including costumes worn during the singer's Ziggy Stardust period.
Rodgers said: 'My creative life with David Bowie provided the greatest success of his incredible career, but our friendship was just as rewarding.
'Our bond was built on a love of the music that had both made and saved our lives.'
Rodgers produced Bowie's single Let's Dance and the 1983 album of the same name, as well as his 1993 album Black Tie White Noise, with the personal correspondence in the exhibition relating to the latter.
Brit Award-winning indie rock band The Last Dinner Party have also curated part of the exhibition, describing Bowie as a 'constant source of inspiration to us'.
Their items include Bowie's elaborate handwritten lyrics for his song Win, and notes and set lists for his 1976 Isolar tour.
The band said: 'David Bowie continues to inspire generations of artists like us to stand up for ourselves.
'It was such a thrill to explore Bowie's archive, and see first hand the process that went into his world-building and how he created a sense of community and belonging for those that felt like outcasts or alienated – something that's really important to us in our work too.'
Access to the David Bowie Centre will be free, with tickets released nearer its opening.
The David Bowie archive, which boasts more than 90,000 items, was acquired by the V&A with the help of the David Bowie Estate, the Blavatnik Family Foundation and Warner Music Group.
The centre will be spread across three zones, which will include curated displays, audio visual installations and quieter study areas, allowing visitors to view the Bowie archive on their own, from musical instruments to stage models.
Small displays will tell the stories behind the singer's albums and also look at his multi-dimensional creative approach, including unrealised projects, collaborations and influences.
The East Storehouse opened at the end of May, and features the Order An Object initiative, allowing visitors to pre-book to see an item from its entire collection.
The V&A will also open the V&A East Museum in spring 2026, in an area named East Bank.
Its main museum is in South Kensington, west London, and it also runs the Young V&A in Bethnal Green, east London.

Take a vintage ride with the New York Transit Museum this fall
All aboard, train enthusiasts and history buffs. This fall, the New York Transit Museum and MTA New York City Transit invite New Yorkers and visitors to go back in time and experience the city's history of transit with two unforgettable Nostalgia Rides on October 4 and November 8. The New York Transit Museum is the largest museum in the United States devoted to urban public transportation history with dedication to preserving the subway cars that once carried millions of passengers through the five boroughs. Starting in October, the museum is giving New Yorkers the rare opportunity to ride in these vintage trains once again. On Saturday, October 4 you can take a historic ride uptown to Woodlawn Cemetery on their WWI-era IRT Lo-V (Low Voltage) subway cars. More than 1,600 of these train cars were built for New York's first subway line company, which featured safer electrical systems and durable steel construction. The cars also appeared in classic films like King Kong and The Incident. The trains were retired by 1969—and fewer than 10 survive today, with six preserved in the Transit Museum's fleet. After the 60-90 minute ride on the IRT Lo-V, explore the Gilded Age Mausoleums and Monuments of Woodlawn Cemetery with a guided tour. Discover Woodlawn's art, architecture, stained glass and gravesites of some of the most famous jazz musicians, suffragists, civic leaders and business moguls who "reside" there. Keep an eye out for these secrets of Woodlawn while you're there. The Nostalgia Ride will depart from Old South Ferry Station at noon and return at approximately 5pm. Guests are welcome to bring a picnic lunch for the two-hour visit. If you can't make the October date, no problem—on November 8, the New York Transit is pulling out R32 Brightliner cars for a round-trip run beginning and ending at the 96 St-Second Avenue station, including a turnaround through the East New York Yard. The stainless steel Brightliner cars became a familiar sight for generations of New Yorkers when they debuted in the 1960s on almost every lettered subway line. The Brightliners retired in 2022, but remain the longest operating subway cars in the world (58 years!) and are always a nostalgic crowd favorite. See these historical trains up close and immerse yourself in the history of New York's public transit system. Sit on the original seats, grip old handholds and leather straps, read vintage advertisements and time travel to another era for a few hours.

Pokémon fans want a horror game after Resident Evil-style Legends Z-A trailer
A new mega evolution has been revealed in a bizarre trailer for Pokemon Legends Z-A, which takes cues from Resident Evil 7. Pokémon Legends: Z-A looks set to be Nintendo's big Christmas game for this year, unless the company has a trick up its sleeve beyond Kirby Air Riders or Metroid Prime 4. The title is a sequel to 2022's Pokémon Legends Arceus and translates the same real time monster-catching formula to Lumiose City from Pokémon X and Y. We already know a lot about the title, including its new action-orientated battle mechanics, but The Pokémon Company has more to show when it comes to the return of mega evolutions. In a trailer released on Thursday (August 21), a new mega evolution was revealed for Victreebel. This is the second new mega evolution in Pokémon Legends: Z-A after Mega Dragonite. While Victreebel is a surprising choice, the creepy found-footage trailer has become the real talking-point. In the clip, two Pokémon trainers are seen breaking into an abandoned Resident Evil 7-style house, complete with P.T. style corridors and ominous music to match. After a small jump scare involving a Spinarak, the mega evolved Victreebel bursts through the wall Mr. X style before spraying his purple gunge everywhere. Sign up to the GameCentral newsletter for a unique take on the week in gaming, alongside the latest reviews and more. Delivered to your inbox every Saturday morning. The horror vibes end on a semi-comedic note, as the Victreebel's trainer bumbles down the stairs in the aftermath, but it's left many fans wanting a horror experience from Pokémon. 'Watch the Mega Victreebel reveal video and tell me there shouldn't be a Pokémon survival horror game for Switch 2,' one X user wrote. 'A Pokémon 'horror' game would be so sick,' another added. 'Doesn't have to be Silent Hill, you could make it as 'scary' as Luigi's Mansion or something.' Unrelated but they should release a soft horror game that has something to do with rumors about Pokémon or something cuz this trailer was pretty fire — ˗ˏˋ Deims ˊˎ˗ ❤️🔥 (@Dei0710) August 21, 2025 'I need a Pokémon horror game asap! Wow that trailer was soo amazing,' another stated. More Trending This isn't the first time Pokémon has done a horror-inspired trailer. A similar found footage clip was done for Pokémon Legends: Arceus, while a number of videos for Pokémon GO have echoed the same style. The chances of a horror Pokémon game may seem slim but considering the franchise has practically covered everything else, including a sleeping app, they might lean into the genre eventually. Pokémon Legends: Z-A is set to launch worldwide on October 16, 2025 across the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Email gamecentral@ leave a comment below, follow us on Twitter.
