Dubbed the 'most expensive hotel in Dubai' by hospitality group Aman CEO Vlad Doronin, Aman Dubai is set to arrive on the Jumeirah 2 beachfront in 2027. The hotel will feature an expansive private beach, branded residences, a spa, private pools, greenery and high-end products. Expect unobstructed panoramic views of the Arabian Gulf, the Dubai skyline and the Burj Khalifa.

Akala

The 'world's first precision wellness destination' is scheduled to be completed in Dubai's DIFC by the end of 2029. The hotel and residences will comprise two 220-metre-tall towers with 534 branded residences. Guests can expect a best-in-class spa, fitness and clinical wellness facilities. The hotel is by Dubai-based property developer Arada and draws its name from the ancient Sanskrit word for 'beyond time'.

Baccarat Hotel and Residences

New York brand Baccarat is bringing its brand of cool to the UAE with this project, which is expected to debut in 2026. The tall tower is being designed by Studio Libeskind and 1508 London, and it's expected to have a glass façade with brilliant views of the city's landmarks, including the Burj Khalifa, Al Fahidi Fort, the Dubai Frame, and the Dubai Creek. Tower One will have the hotel, with 144 rooms and suites. The residences will comprise 49 rooms and four dining concepts.

Set to be part of the Las Vegas-inspired construction project The Island Dubai, the Bellagio will be a key addition to the project. While not much has been revealed about the Dubai version of the iconic Nevada hotel, we should expect high-end entertainment and luxury amenities throughout.

Buddha-Bar Hotel and Floating Villas

The Buddha-Bar Hotel is one of several big projects coming to The Heart of Europe on World Islands. This one will only be accessible by boat and will feature a dreamy beach club, new lounges and restaurants. The hotel and floating villas will have 162 rooms and suites, as well as a luxury spa to pamper yourself on the island retreat.

The world's tallest hotel is getting closer to completion by the day, and we can't wait to get inside. Towering over the Marina at a staggering 365 metres, the building will also boast a rooftop infinity pool and bar overlooking Palm Jumeirah. As if that's not enough, we're sure the 360-degree glass observation deck, all-day dining or state-of-the-art gym will also impress.

Corinthia Dubai

Standing at more than 500 metres, Corinthia Dubai is set to be the latest landmark hotel to come to the city. The hotel will be set within a two-tower structure on Sheikh Zayed Road and be placed near the Museum of the Future. It will feature a contemporary architectural style and be conjoined by a cantilevered sky lobby standing 200 metres above the ground – around 100 metres higher than The Link at the One Za'abeel. The hotel will also feature the world's highest outdoor sky pool. This pool is set to soar over 500 metres in the sky and boast panoramic 360-degree views of the city.

Côte d'Azur Nice Hotel

Another Mediterranean-inspired hotel set to open at The Heart of Europe, you can expect more high-end luxury at this hotel. It'll have direct access to the largest pool in the region, a dozen authentic French dining options and its own beach club. Expect this one to open soon, as it was awarded a completion certificate back in March.

Floating Venice

The five-star Floating Venice (otherwise referred to as the Floating Lido) is set to become the world's first five-star on-the-water accommodation with multiple underwater cabins, paying tribute to the culture of Venice to Dubai, also found in The Heart of Europe.

Built over the water, the self-proclaimed 5-star island destination will include 121 'floating seahorses', a series of elegant villas with boardwalks and floating jetties connecting each to the main resort. Surrounded by a white sandy beach and landscaped gardens, the Honeymoon Island Dubai will, of course, be built in the shape of a love heart. This Maldivian-inspired project is another one coming to The Heart of Europe on World Islands.

Inspired by the Danish concept of hygge, the Hygge Hotel will bring a laid-back, cosy vibe to The Heart of Europe. Hygge is a Danish word for the quality of cosiness that comes from doing simple, everyday things. With a warm, comfortable and understated design, the hotel aims to create a happy place for guests to slow down and reconnect with what matters in life.

InterContinental Resort Portofino
The InterContinental Resort Portofino will be built following an agreement between IHG Hotels and The Heart of Europe on The World Islands. It is expected to open early in 2026 on the beachfront with 466 rooms and suites and include authentic Italian food and floor-to-ceiling aquariums on all six floors. The new hotel will be part of The Heart of Europe Coral Institute, which protects and rehabilitates marine life as part of its environmental sustainability goals.

Ultra-luxury development Janu Dubai is scheduled to open in DIFC by 2027. Expect a members' club, outdoor terraces, balconies and green spaces. This is another project by Aman, the group behind 'Dubai's most expensive hotel', Janu will feature a skyscraper with 150 rooms and residences and skyline-changing design.

Jumeirah Asora Bay

Looking out over the water, Jumeirah Asora Bay will be 'discreetly' blended into the surroundings and boast 103 rooms as well as 20 villas. The site will be made up of both a hotel and plush residences, located on the peninsula of La Mer South. If you love the trip so much that you can't bring yourself to leave, then you can consider a permanent move into one of the 29 residences, with anywhere from four to six bedrooms.

Kempinski Floating Palace

What it says on the tin, this new hotel will be floating on the Arabian Gulf. The five-star 163-key hotel will be located on the water off Jumeirah Beach Road, and feature high-end restaurants, boutique shops and a spa.
Those with yachts will also be able to dock up here and make use of the five-star amenities.

Mandarin Oriental Downtown

Located on Sheikh Zayed Road, Mandarin Oriental has announced it will be opening its second Dubai hotel inside the new Wasl Tower. Announced in 2022, the mega tower is set to be over 300 metres tall when complete and an official opening date has now been set for October 2025. The new hotel will have 259 rooms and suites, as well as a spa and 10 new restaurants and bars.

Marbella Resort

Getting ready to wow guests, the Marbella Resort is set to be a Spanish-inspired haven by early 2026, and looks seriously impressive. Boasting 150 rooms, the five-star hotel will be surrounded by nature, as over 500,000 square metres of coral reefs will be introduced. Allowing you to go snorkelling around the island, guests will be able to spot over nine different types of coral and 30 species of fish, according to developer the Kleindienst Group.

MGM Hotel Dubai

The centre piece of the Island Dubai project, it's set to bring Las Vegas-style luxury to Dubai. Details on this one are scarce, but if it's anything like the iconic MGM Grand in Las Vegas then we're likely to get a new iconic hotel. Expect this one to open in late 2027.

Rixos Dubai Islands

Those lucky enough to check in or live at Rixos Dubai Islands, Hotel & Residences can expect a prime waterfront location with the same level of service the Rixos brand provides in its other hotels. One, two and three-bedroom apartments with terraces will be available as well as four-bedroom duplexes with private pools, beach houses including gardens plus ten luxury villas.

Rosewood

Rosewood Hotels & Resorts has confirmed it will be making its official Dubai debut, as it confirmed plans for a huge new hotel and residence site. The iconic hotel chain has locations spanning from Abu Dhabi to London and soon Dubai, calling Jumeirah Beach its next home. Set to open in 2029, Rosewood Dubai will consist of a hotel and residences, with both overlooking the waterfront.

Six Senses Residences Dubai Marina

Announced in 2024 as the latest addition to Dubai Marina, the tower will be the world's tallest residential building upon completion.
The first part of the skeleton structure has already been constructed, and design images of the project have shown the new building standing well above the likes of Marina 101 (425m) and Princess Tower (414m).
Expected to have 122 floors and a series of 251 luxury apartments, the building will have a wellness theme, with a crystal sound healing room and a huge 25m lap pool.
If you're lucky enough to call this place home, residents will benefit from amenities such as its Sleep With Six Senses bedrooms filled with everything wellness, including bespoke features like a wellness wardrobe (yes please) stocked with home fitness equipment and mood-enhancing sensory art.

The first Six Senses property in the UAE, this new opening on Palm Jumeirah's West Crescent will have 61 hotel rooms and 162 branded residences. One of the big draws to the new opening is the 60,000 sq ft social and wellness club. Inside, you'll find a longevity clinic, IV lounge, biohacking room, massage circuit pool, squash court and the Six Senses Spa. Elsewhere in the hotel, there will also be restaurants, bars, pool, kids' club, a games room, and even a library to get a few pages in.

Trump International Hotel and Tower

Collaborating with Dar Global, the Trump Tower mega project is set to be packed with exclusive hotel suites and residences, meaning you could visit for a staycation or drop your bags there permanently. Set to reach an impressive 350m height when completed, the lavish fit out will be complete with suites, private lounges and an exclusive members-only club. Crowning the skyscraper will be two huge penthouses, complete with their own sky pools, and another impressive pool will be created for other residents. Inspired by the Trump Tower penthouse on 5th Avenue in New York City, the new hotel will be located next door to the Shangri-La Hotel on Sheikh Zayed Road, close to Financial Metro Station.

China slaps temporary duties on Canadian canola
BEIJING/SINGAPORE, Aug 12 (Reuters) - China on Tuesday announced preliminary anti-dumping duties on Canadian canola imports, a fresh escalation in the year-long trade dispute that began with Ottawa's imposition of tariffs on Chinese electric vehicle imports last August. The provisional rate will be set at 75.8%, effective from Thursday, the Ministry of Commerce said in a statement. ICE November canola futures fell 4% to a three-month low after the announcement. China, the world's largest importer of canola - also known as rapeseed - sources nearly all of its supplies of the product from Canada. The steep duties would likely all but end imports if they are maintained. "This is huge. Who will pay a 75% deposit to bring Canadian canola to China? It is like telling Canada that we don't need your canola, thank you very much," said one Singapore-based oilseed trader. China's Ministry of Commerce said on Tuesday an anti-dumping probe launched in September 2024 had found Canada's agricultural sector and particularly the canola industry had benefited from "substantial" government subsidies and preferential policies. China has until September, when the investigation formally ends, to make a final decision on the duties, though it has the option of extending that deadline by six months. A final ruling could result in a different rate, or overturn Tuesday's decision. The decision marks a shift from the conciliatory tone struck in June when China's Premier Li Qiang said there were no deep-seated conflicts of interest between the countries during a phone call with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. "This move... will put additional pressure on Canada's government to sort through trade frictions with China," said Trivium China agriculture analyst Even Rogers Pay. The Canadian embassy in Beijing did not respond to Reuters' request for comment. Separately, China also launched an anti-dumping investigation into Canadian pea starch and imposed provisional duties on imports of halogenated butyl rubber, according to ministry statements. Replacing millions of tons of Canadian canola is likely to be difficult at short notice, say analysts. China primarily uses imported canola to make animal feed for its aquaculture sector. A separate duty on Canadian canola meal imports in March has already put these supplies at risk. The move provides an opportunity for Australia, which looks set to regain access to the Chinese market with a few test cargoes this year after a years-long freeze in the trade, Pay said. Australia, the second-largest canola exporter, has been shut out of the Chinese market since 2020 due mainly to Chinese rules to stop the spread of fungal plant disease. However, even if Australian imports increase, "fully replacing Canadian canola will be very difficult unless import demand drops sharply," said Donatas Jankauskas, an analyst with commodity data firm CM Navigator. New charges to be applied to electronic items bought on Amazon and eBay New rules are coming in a bid to protect the environment New charges will be applied to online electronics Online marketplaces must now report the electronic items they sell to UK consumers as part of new rules aimed at ensuring more firms share the burden of recycling costs. Currently, UK firms such as Currys, Argos, Apple Retail UK, Tesco, and Microsoft contribute to an Environment Agency fund for the collection and treatment of products like washing machines, radios and vacuum cleaners. However, foreign companies selling electronics to British shoppers via online platforms like Amazon and eBay have avoided this expense. As of Tuesday, these firms must now register with the Environment Agency and report sales of household electrical products made by sellers in the UK. This data will then be used to calculate the amount of recycling companies must finance annually. The online platforms will start paying this money from January 2026. The Environment Department (Defra) said the funds generated will go towards improving recycling of items collected by local authorities, and help drive investments in waste services and infrastructure. Additionally, vapes will no longer be lumped with 'toys, leisure and sports equipment' from Tuesday but instead will be recognised in a new category of electrical waste. This move, according to ministers, will ensure vape suppliers are responsible for financing the disposal and treatment of their products as waste. Environment minister Mary Creagh said the new rules aim to 'level the playing field' for British businesses who are already shouldering the costs and therefore at a disadvantage to online rivals based abroad. More widely, it is hoped the regulations will support Government ambitions to tackle the country's throwaway culture and the growing amount of waste littering communities, nature and the oceans. Ms Creagh said: 'We are committed to moving towards a circular economy in which we keep electricals from laptops to toasters in use for longer. 'Ensuring online marketplaces pay their share for managing the cost of the electrical waste they generate will increase recycling and level the playing field for UK-based retailers, boosting growth and making the system fairer.' Paula Coughlan, chief people, communications and sustainability officer at Currys, said: 'It is important that the responsibility to safely dispose of electronic waste is shared fairly, and we're pleased the Government has listened to us and other industry leaders. 'We believe with the right skills and infrastructure in place, the UK can build a thriving circular economy – enabling lasting and sustainable change.' John Boumphrey, UK country manager at Amazon, said: 'We welcome the Government's focus in this critical area and look forward to continuing our work with the Circular Economy Taskforce to drive further innovation, supporting the UK's transition to a more circular economy. 'We believe retailers have an important role to play in reducing waste, which is why we prioritise reselling, refurbishing, donating or recycling products wherever possible.' Scott Butler, executive director of circular economy campaign group Material Focus, said: 'We welcome the new vape category announced today, which provides a further opportunity to tighten up the environmental enforcement of vapes. By understanding how many vapes are being sold, Defra can set targets to ensure that vape producers make their fair contribution to the costs of recycling these products.' The new rules come as part of wider Government efforts to generate a circular economy in which electricals are kept in use for longer. Ministers have convened a taskforce of experts to help develop a circular economy strategy for England, which will include a roadmap to increase the reuse and recycling of electrical equipment.
