Stuttgart reject 2nd Bayern offer of $64mn for Woltemade
Berlin
Bayern Munich have had a second offer for Germany forward Nick Woltemade of 55 million euros ($64 million) rejected by his club VfB Stuttgart, the Bild paper and Sky TV reported on Wednesday.
The reports said that Bundesliga champions Bayern had offered a fixed sum of 50 million euros, 5 million euros in add-ons, and 10 percent for Stuttgart from a fee should Bayern sell him on.
Stuttgart will reportedly not start discussing a transfer until Bayern have offered at least 65 million euros for the 23-year-old who has a contract until 2028, without a release clause.
They are said to have rejected a first Bayern offer of 45 million euros last week.
Woltemade had his breakthrough in the past season. He helped Stuttgart win the German Cup, earned his first two senior caps in June, and was top-scorer at the under-21 Euros where Germany reached the final.

Italy's Girelli vows to cause England trouble
dpa Berlin Italy captain Cristiana Girelli vowed to cause Euros title holders England some trouble in their semi-finals at the women's Euro 2025 on Tuesday in Geneva. 'They're the reigning European champions, so they're a really strong team. But, as with any team, they have their weaknesses,' Girelli told 'First of all, we'll try to make the most of our skillset as best we can, so we'll try and play football our way and cause them some trouble,' she added. Girelli was Italy's quarter-finals hero, scoring the two goals in the 2-1 win against Norway. Twice champions Norway had won all of their group matches but it was Italy, who advanced with just one victory from the group stage, to reach the semis for the first time since 1997 - after failing to advance into the knock-outs at the last two editions. Girelli, however, still believes Italy are the underdogs among the four teams left in the tournament. 'We are (the underdogs). It's true, because, on paper, we might be. Out of the four semi-finalists, we're talking about the world champions (Spain), the European champions (England), and Germany, who have the most titles in Europe. 'I agree with those who see us as the underdogs. But football is decided on the pitch, not on paper. We'll be ready to give it our all. And when Italy give our all, it's always harder for everyone else,' she said.

Frankfurt's Ekitike heading to Liverpool for $110 mn: Reports
dpa Frankfurt Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike is set to join Liverpool in another big-money transfer, according to media reports. The 23-year-old Frenchman will move to the English champions with immediate effect, TV broadcaster Sky Germany and transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano reported on Sunday. The transfer fee is said to be around 95 million euros [$110.4 million), with Ekitike is signing a six-year contract with the Reds. The two clubs have yet to confirm the transfer. Ekitiké would become Liverpool's next major signing from the Bundesliga this close season, following the acquisitions of Germany playmaker Florian Wirtz and Dutch wing back Jeremie Frimpong from Leverkusen. The death of Diogo Jota, uncertainty over Darwin Nunez's future and Bayern Munich's pursuit of Luis Diaz appear to have prompted Liverpool to continue their massive spending spree. Ekitiké would be the latest big-money sale by savvy Frankfurt. Earlier this year, the club sold striker Omar Marmoush to Manchester City for 75 million euros. Nearly two years ago, forward Kolo Muani was transferred to Paris Saint-Germain for 95 million euros. Ekitike joined Eintracht Frankfurt from PSG at the start of 2024, initially on loan, before being permanently signed last year for a reported ?16.5 million. In the past season, he contributed 22 goals and 12 assists across all competitions. Liverpool's league rivals Newcastle United had also shown interest in Ekitiké. The reported deal once again highlights the negotiating skills of Frankfurt sporting director Markus Krösche, whose side finished third in the German top flight last term but must now deal with more squad upheaval. As a potential replacement for Ekitike, Germany international Jonathan Burkardt has already been signed from local rivals Mainz - for just 23 million euros.
