Cape Town City's Premiership fate is no longer in their hands.
They have run their race and finished on 27 points – one point above the relegation zone.
But instead of celebrating after their goalless draw with Stellenbosch FC in the Western Cape derby at the Cape Town Stadium on Saturday afternoon, they will have to wait until the SuperSport United and Golden Arrows replay 45 minutes – effectively one half – of their abandoned clash due to loadshedding back in February.
SuperSport United are a point behind City on 26 points after losing 2-0 to Richards Bay, but still have their get-out-of-jail card available after the PSL's ruling last week.
Stellenbosch, meanwhile, have secured third place after Arrows beat Sekhukhune United 3-2, to ensure Steve Barker's team will compete in the CAF Confederation Cup again next season.
Stellies reach the semi-finals of the continental competition in their first effort this season.
City may yet rue not taking advantage of a host of opportunities in the Cape derby, with Gabriel Amato creating an early chance with a right-footed volley skimming the Stellenbosch crossbar.
The Citizens' desperation was evident as they continued to pour forward in search of a much-needed goal.

Experienced midfielder Thulani Serero also found space on the edge of the box, rifling in a shot that forced a double save from Oscarine Masuluke.
Central defender Lorenzo Gordinho also had an opportunity immediately after the halftime break when his glancing header nestled into the bread basket of the Stellies goalkeeper.
But with City foraging forward, they also left themselves exposed at the back, and against a team with the quality that Stellenbosch possess, they were fortunate not to be punished.
Stellies weathered the storm and began creating opportunities of their own, with striker Ashley Cupido working his way down the right touchline before sending in a good cross that found Andre de Jongh unmarked.

Stellies a surprisingly long shot to beat the Bucs

Orlando Pirates and Stellenbosch both probably didn't expect to go into Wednesday evening's Betway Premiership clash looking for their first league win of the season. Yet that is exactly how it stands as last season's runners-up (Pirates) take on last season's third-place finishers (Stellenbosch) at Orlando Stadium. Pirates' new coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has got off to an inauspicious start to his reign at the Buccaneers, losing his first two Premiership games to Sekhukhune United and Marumo Gallants. Stellies, meanwhile, haven't fared much better, losing at home to Kaizer Chiefs and then only managing a point away to Magesi FC. Both sides do come into this match on the back of more encouraging results on the weekend. Pirates drew 1-1 at home to Sundowns in the first leg of their MTN8 semifinal. But a draw with the might of Masandawana is a creditable result and Ouaddou was happy with the way his side fought back against Sundowns, Kamogelo Sebelebele grabbing a late equaliser. Steve Barker's Stellenbosch, meanwhile, beat Sekhukhune 2-0 in the first leg of their MTN8 semi. This result is even more impressive in light of the fact that Babina Noko have made such a good start to the season, winning all of their other four matches. Stellies edged this corresponding fixture last season 1-0, with Devin Titus getting the winning goal. Titus was also on the scoresheet against Sekhukhune on Saturday and could again be a thorn in the Buccaneers side. Given Pirates' shaky start, it is perhaps surprising that Stellies are such outsiders to win on Wednesday. According to Betway's latest odds, Stellies are priced at 5.00 to win, with Pirates at 1.80 and a draw at 3.15. If you are looking for an outside bet, Stellies may be worth a punt, with Ouaddou also seeming not entirely sure what his best side is yet. Having such a large squad to choose from can come with its own set of problems. For anyone seeking out an even longer shot, meanwhile, Magesi are priced at 9.80 to win at home to Sundowns on Wednesday. Chances are that won't happen, but if it does, you will certainly get bang for your buck. Please note that Betway odds are correct at the time of writing and subject to change.

Chiefs coach explains absent trio

'Shinga is ready, he received his card to play but still has fitness to work on,' said the Chiefs assistant coach. Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef has explained exactly why new signings Flavio Da Silva, Ethan Chislett and Nkanyiso Shinga are still yet to play an official game for Amakhosi this season. Chiefs' players are clear to play The trio were all heavily involved in pre-season, but have not featured in any of Chiefs' first three Betway Premiership matches of the campaign. 'Shinga is ready, he received his card to play but still has fitness to work on,' said Ben Youssef on Tuesday, after Chiefs had beaten Richards Bay 1-0 to make it three wins out of three. 'Silva received his card yesterday, but it was late for us. We had already made our plan for this game. 'Ethan was sick last week, he had no training sessions. But he is ready to play.' Chiefs introduced three more signings to the crowd at half time at FNB Stadium against the Natal Rich Boyz. Winger Asanele Velebayi, striker Etiosa Ighodaro and forward Luke Baartman have all now been announced by the club. Ben Youssef said that he did not know who Velebayi was at the pre-match press conference this week. But this time he appeared to have done his research. 'We have seen the quality of these players, we need these kinds of players,' he said. 'They must come and fight to take their position at Chiefs. It is very tough to be in this team. The mentality of the player has to be that they … fight to help the team.' Nabi on the way back to SA? Chiefs are hopeful, meanwhile, that they will have head coach Nasreddine Nabi back in the country in time for the game against Sundowns at FNB Stadium. 'Nabi will be with us I hope this week to prepare for the next game against Sundowns,' added Ben Youssef. Nabi had to head home to Tunisia before the start of the season after his wife was involved in a serious car accident. Kaizer Chiefs news: Nasreddine Nabi and Thabo Cele

Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef has played down concerns over Nasreddine Nabi's absence, insisting the technical team is running smoothly in his absence. Amakhosi have started the 2025/26 Betway Premiership with three wins from three, beating Stellenbosch 2-0 away, Polokwane City 1-0 and Richards Bay FC 1-0 at home. The bright start has occurred without Nabi on the bench, who is in Tunisia to support his wife after a household accident. 'We are a technical staff and all of us are familiar, and we work together,' Youssef told the media…Full story here. The 28-year-old, who spent nine years playing in Europe with clubs like Real SC, Benfica B, and Fakel Voronezh, has become a key presence in the Kaizer Chiefs midfield since joining on a free transfer.
