Bradley Chubb's return to Dolphins practice field has excitement level at '10 out of 10'
Miami Dolphins outside linebacker Bradley Chubb is eager to return to action. After missing all of 2024 due to a knee injury suffered at the end of the 2023 season, Chubb told reporters Wednesday that his excitement level is, '10 out of 10. 10 out of 10, man.'
'Being around last year and trying to lead from the background is one thing, but when you're actually going through the fire with guys and you're actually putting the blood, the sweat and the tears in with the guys, it's a little different," Chubb said.
While Chubb is back on the practice field at organized team activities (OTAs) along with Jaelan Phillips, neither are participating fully at this point.
"Someday, depends on what day you're out there, you'll probably see one, if not both," Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said. "There will be a day or two where we're going to have to back off that, but very happy with where they're at and know that they're as excited as ever."
But Chubb says he doesn't expect to be limited at all when training camp begins in July
'I feel good. I'm moving along good and that's the plan, to be 100 percent," Chubb said. Like I said, be out there as much as I can and continue to lead from out front.
"I'd say I'm about 95-99 percent in terms of just feeling good, feeling better and feeling like myself. For sure high 90s – I would say that last 10 percent is just game reps. Actual game reps, actual tackling just to see where I'm at in that aspect, but that's going to come when it comes and for right now, I'm good where I'm at.'
Once Chubb returns officially, he will finally get a chance to play alongside 2024 first-round pick Chop Robinson.
'Man, I've been smiling ear to ear every time I get a chance to look at the tape,' Chubb said. 'From the jump that Chop (Robinson) has made over his growth – guys get 6.0 sacks and get in the Defensive Rookie of the Year [conversations] and they take the foot off the gas, but Chop has put pedal to the metal.'
He'll also be reunited with Phillips, who suffered a serious knee injury of his own last season.
"To see 'JP' attacking his rehab as hard as he has – just the back-to-back injuries he dealt with and his mindset is still, 'I'm still the best out here. I'm still going to do this and do that,'" Chubb said. "So I know that if I've got those two guys in my corner, I'm going to be good for life.
'We were in [rehab] a lot, man, getting after it, pushing each other, keeping each other's spirits up. At the end of the day, we all know we're hard workers, but it's just about that mental and making sure that mental is right each and every day to attack the day. That's what we did for each other, so it was good.'
Prior to his 2023 injury, Chubb had 11 sacks and six forced fumbles along with 11 tackles for loss and 22 quarterback hits. Can he be just as effective in 2025?
'I don't want to put any numbers on it," Chubb said. "I just know that if we all go out there and do what we know we're capable of, the sky is the limit. We have a lot of great talent, a lot of hard-working men that go in each and every day.'

CBS shares prediction for Dolphins CB Jalen Ramsey's landing spot
CBS shares prediction for Dolphins CB Jalen Ramsey's landing spot Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey didn't take part in Miami OTAs and was an excused absence from last week's mandatory minicamp as the franchise continues to seek a Ramsey trade partner. One of the most popular names has been the Los Angeles Rams and for good reason. The Rams have an aging, veteran quarterback in Matthew Stafford and the franchise wants to win right now. And, for Ramsey, reuniting with the Rams makes sense. Ramsey and Stafford and Co. won Super Bowl LVI together over the Cincinnati Bengals to cap the 2021 NFL season. The veteran corner is familiar with the Rams and with head coach Sean McVay. Plus, Ramsey was a Pro Bowler every season in Los Angeles and was a first-team All-Pro in 2020 and in 2021. But, in its look at the big-name holdouts and free agents during minicamps, CBS predicted a different landing spot for Ramsey. Just one year after landing a $74 million extension from the Miami Dolphins, Ramsey is fully anticipating a breakup as his AFC East squad rebuilds its defense. The seven-time Pro Bowler will likely fetch little more than a mid- to late-round draft pick in a trade given his age (30) and financial demands, but his wealth of both experience and attitude will convince someone to slot him in as a "missing piece" for 2025. A reunion with the Los Angeles Rams makes the most sense from a title-chasing perspective, but if it's compensation that ultimately seals the deal here, a move to Sin City feels right up Ramsey's alley; the Las Vegas Raiders are flush with salary cap space, and coach Pete Carroll is all about physical defense. - Cody Benjamin, CBS. Benjamin's projected compensation for the Dolphins was a 2026 fifth-round pick. Ramsey has said in the past that the Raiders were at the top of his list of potential destinations when he first left Jacksonville. The Raiders still have $36.1 million in effective cap space for the 2025 season and it wouldn't be shocking to want to pair superstar pass-rusher Maxx Crosby with a star like Ramsey on the back end. Ramsey signed a three-year, $72.3 million extension in September of last year. The 30-year-old defensive back is under contract through the 2028 NFL season when he carries a base salary of $21.1 million and a cap hit of $36.1 million.

Abdul Carter tabbed as New York Giants' best schematic fit from 2025 draft class
Abdul Carter tabbed as New York Giants' best schematic fit from 2025 draft class The New York Giants selected Penn State linebacker Abdul Carter with the third overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft. He was high on their board and it appears to be a perfect match. Carter will join an already formidable Giants front seven that includes players such as Dexter Lawrence, Bobby Okereke, Brian Burns, Kayvon Thibodeaux, and Micah McFadden. Rob Rang of FOX Sports recently named Carter the top schematic pick out of the Giants' seven-player draft class. Carter is admittedly very low-hanging fruit as the Giants' biggest rookie contributor, but he has to be included in this article as my current top pick for Defensive Rookie of the Year honors. Carter is electric off the edge, and he's joining one of the better defensive lines in the NFL, providing an ideal runway for Carter to vault into superstardom. Burns was asked last week about how Carter was fitting in as a pro and with the veterans on the defense. "As a person, cool kid," Burns said. "At first, he was quiet. He's starting to loosen up a little bit. But as far as a player, so far, he's everything that I expected, very twitchy, and explosive. He does have an array of moves." "I think he's all ball," said defensive coordinator Shane Bowen. "You can tell he perks up when you start talking football with him. I think just his demeanor, how he carries himself. There is an edginess to him that we have seen translate out here in these few practices that we've had." The Giants will toy with the front seven as the season nears, and beyond. Carter appears to be the chess piece that unlocks this defense and makes it elite.

ESPN dissects what Dolphins need to answer about QB situation in 2025
ESPN dissects what Dolphins need to answer about QB situation in 2025 Sixth-year Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has demonstrated moments of brilliance as Miami's starting signal-caller. During the 2023 campaign, Tagovailoa passed for 4,624 yards and 29 touchdowns en route to his lone Pro Bowl nod. Tagovailoa was the NFL's passing yards leader that season as Miami made a second straight playoff appearance with an 11-6 regular season mark. In 2023, the Dolphins boasted the NFL's No. 1 total offense, the No. 1 passing offense, the No. 2 scoring offense and the No. 6 rushing offense. But, Tagovailoa has battled the injury bug throughout his career and his absences during the 2024 season directly led to the Dolphins' disappointing 8-9 finish. In ESPN's 32 questions for 32 NFL quarterbacks, Dan Graziano asks if this is a make-or-break year for Tagovailoa. Not really, since he has $54 million in guaranteed money coming in 2026. But the Miami offense took a step back last season, and the Dolphins missed the playoffs for the first time in three years under coach Mike McDaniel. Tagovailoa's 60.3 QBR ranked 15th. How and whether Tagovailoa and McDaniel recover from a down year will go a long way toward determining how pointed next offseason's questions will be about Tagovailoa. - Graziano, ESPN. Tagovailoa inked a four-year, $212.4 million contract extension in July of 2024 that ties him to South Florida through the 2028 NFL season. That 2028 campaign would just be Tagovailoa's age-30 season. The best-case scenario for the Dolphins is that Tagovailoa does a better job mitigating injury risks and resembles that 2023 version of himself as a byproduct. With one of the league's top duos at receiver in Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, the expectation should be that Miami morphs back into one of the NFL's best offenses with a healthy Tagovailoa pulling the strings. But, if the 2025 campaign goes sideways, there's no telling what the collective front office might think about the direction the franchise is headed in and whether or not Tagovailoa is the Dolphins' quarterback of the future.
