Oman expo in Russia attracts over 400,000 visitors
MUSCAT: As many as 414,481 visitors turned up at an exhibition titled 'Omani Empire between Asia and Africa', held at the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia, from December 2023 to January 2025.
The exhibition, the second of its kind to be organised as part of Oman Hall Initiative, was applauded by visitors from different countries of the world. The visitors expressed their great appreciation for the unique collections which, they said, reflected the deep-rooted history of the Sultanate of Oman.
The exhibition included a selection of artefacts that represented Al Yaruba Dynasty and Al Busaidi Dynasty, which established two maritime empires in the 17th century. The artefacts indicate important aspects of Oman's historical identity as a role model for a prosperous, global, multicultural and tolerant nation. — ONA

Oman marks World Oceans Day, renews pledge to protect marine environment
Muscat - On the occasion of World Oceans Day (which falls on 8 June every year), the Sultanate of Oman highlights efforts on protecting the marine environment and promoting ecological sustainability. Oman is considered a leading country in this field. Oman boasts a long coastline of approximately 3,165 kilometres that makes the country home to a rich biodiversity of coral reefs, seabirds, fish and rare and endangered species like sea turtles. As part of its efforts to promote marine sustainability, Oman keeps implementing a variety of projects, including the "Artificial Coral Reefs" project, which aims to rehabilitate damaged coral reefs, enhance biodiversity, support sustainable fishing and protect coastal areas. Oman has also established a number of marine reserves like Ras Al Jinz Marine Reserve, the Daymaniyat Islands Marine Reserve, and Al Khor Marine Reserve, which all provide safe sanctuary for endangered marine species. Oman's efforts also include awareness campaigns and workshops aimed at raising and developing the knowledge of citizens and residents about the importance of preserving marine life. In particular, such initiatives target younger generations, encouraging them to actively contribute to environment conservation efforts. Oman also accords attention to international cooperation in the field of marine environment protection. HM the Sultan congratulates the king of KSA on the success of the Hajj season
Muscat : His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik sent a cable of congratulations to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, on the success of this year's Hajj season 1446 AH. His Majesty the Sultan praised the great efforts made by the Kingdom's government each year to serve the Guests of God and provide all necessary conditions and services for the smooth, safe, and easy performance of the Hajj rituals. HH Sayyid Fahd offers Eid Al Adha prayers at Al Khor Mosque
Muscat — HH Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers today offered Eid Al Adha prayers at Al Khor Mosque in Muscat. Alongside HH Sayyid Fahd, the prayers were performed by some members of the Royal family, ministers, advisors and officials. The prayers were led by Sheikh Dr. Kahlan bin Nabhan Al Kharusi, Assistant Grand Mufti of the Sultanate of Oman, who delivered the Eid sermon. On this happy occasion, HH Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers expressed greetings to all citizens and residents. He prayed to Allah the Almighty for the return of this happy occasion on His Majesty the Sultan and the Royal family at a time they enjoy good health and happiness. He also prayed to the Almighty to grant His Majesty and the government success to achieve further growth and prosperity for this dear homeland.
