Another former LIV golfer will make a return to the PGA Tour this week.
James Piot, who competed for LIV Golf in 2022 and 2023, received a sponsor exemption into the 2025 Rocket Classic on Monday after a series of field shuffles allowed him into the field. Piot, who grew up outside of Detroit and played collegiately at Michigan State, will make his first PGA Tour start in more than three years and his first at Detroit Golf Club.
Piot won the 2021 U.S. Amateur at Oakmont Country Club and joined LIV Golf for the league's inaugural season, competing for Phil Mickelson's HyFlyers GC. His contract was not renewed after the 2023 season. Since then, a majority of his schedule has been played in Asia, though he did Monday qualify for a Korn Ferry Tour event, the Lecom Suncoast Classic, earlier this year.
He was in the Rocket Classic Monday qualifier before he received a spot in the field this week.
In March, Laurie Canter became the first former LIV golfer to play in a PGA Tour event when he teed it up at the Players Championship.

"So I've learned over the course of my career to focus a little bit more on the rest side of things, especially when I get home," Scheffler told reporters on June 10. "Early in my career I was -- I've always been the guy that I think works the hardest, and if something is not the way that I feel like it should be, I'm going to go out there and figure it out, and that's just kind of how I've always approached things. Advertisement "Early in my career I was able to come out to courses and spend as much time as I wanted to out here, and that's just because I didn't really have any other obligations," Scheffler continued. "I'd just come out and practice, practice, practice and do whatever I wanted to do, but now things are a little bit different with having a wife and a son and some other obligations at tournaments, as well. The schedule is just a bit different." Despite the slow start at the U.S. Open, it looks like this balance is paying off as Scheffler finished T7 at Oakmont. Scheffler is pushing for his fourth win of 2025 as the golfer aims to win another trophy at the Travelers Championship.
