Reddit users came up with some funny responses they could share next time someone pried

They took to Reddit to reveal their unusual moniker - Rat.
"I'm doing a lot of introductions at the moment, and people are always intrigued by my name, they keep asking the history behind it or what it's short for," they explained in the viral post.
The only problem was the name isn't short for anything, so there was nothing to tell.
And although they did have one funny comeback to the constant questions, the same response was getting a bit old, they explained.
"Aside from the jokey answers like 'Ratatouille', I don't have anything to tell them, my name has always just been R-A-T, it's my full first name," they said.
They continued: "I'm getting kind of sick of having the same conversation if I'm real, so does anyone know a name that Rat could be realistically short for?
"It would certainly make introductions a bit less painless for me. I just moved to a new job, and they're more of a posh crowd who are very nosy lmao. I can see the questions brewing."
Luckily, the fellow Reddit users had some incredible responses lined up for any further prying questions.
One said: "You gotta hit 'em with the ol' Rat-a-tat-tat."
And a second came up with a whole list of potential names including Ratthew, Rattlesnake, Ratorichal question, and Ratasha.

A third took a different approach and said: "An answer like 'Rattus rattus' could help drive the full name point home in a slightly sarcastic way."
Another joked they should tell people the name is short for 'Mouse'.
"My parents called me 'Brat' but I dropped the first letter," was another suggested response.
But others though telling people another backstory was a better idea as one said: "It's your nickname from prison. You ratted everyone out and got early release. Better to not ask why you were in."
"It is short for Raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat, obviously," someone else joked.
Meanwhile, some Reddit users were more focused on why Rat didn't know where their name really came from.
They said she never asked when they were younger, but have now missed the opportunity to find out from their parents.
"I've never asked. I think maybe it was after a musician or artist back when they were kids, but then again, my best friend growing up was also a boy called Badger," they explained.
"I'm not even the first Rat I've met, we both thought each other were taking the piss though when we first met because it's a bit rare.
"I'm White British, so as far as I know there's no cultural meaning to it."

Their first Group D game is against France in Zurich on July 5. They then play the Netherlands in the same city on July 9 and Wales in St Gallen on July 13. A spokesman for William said: 'He is looking forward to supporting the team and wishing them good luck.' The Prince of Wales — who is patron of the FA — is also set to meet the squad in person to give them his best wishes before they depart for the tournament. Wills is often seen supporting the men's and women's national sides, and his beloved Aston Villa. He was pictured experiencing the highs and lows of the England men's Euros final loss last year. And speaking to the women's squad last year, he revealed of daughter Charlotte: 'She wants me to tell you she's really good in goal . . . a budding star.' England are reigning Euro champions but endured an unsettling few weeks with the retirement of stars Mary Earps and Fran Kirby. While 88-cap defender Millie Bright pulled out on the eve of the squad announcement.

Mum stunned to find ‘shock' item in box of McDonald's chicken nuggets – and it left her daughter ‘scared'

Nafize said: 'I said, 'Oh my God, that's a giant nugget'. "The kids were shocked — they thought I was playing a prank. 'When they saw it, my two sons said, 'It's a golden nugget', thinking it was a special one and they'd won a prize.' But when the boys, aged ten and eight, realised it was dinner they began to fight over the freakish fried food until Nafize cut it in half to keep the peace. The married mum, of Bromley, South East London, added: 'My daughter was a bit scared of it, so she didn't eat any, but the boys said it tasted more like a chicken wing than a nugget.' Nafize reckoned it could be the first of its kind. One Brit did share a photo of a giant nugget to Reddit in 2022 – but critics said it looked more like two nuggets stuck together. The world's largest chicken nugget weighed more than 45lb. McDonald's was asked to comment on Nafize's find. 'Oh my God!' I found an insane dupe for McDonald's chicken nuggets in Home Bargains, they're not even £3 for a bag Unlock even more award-winning articles as The Sun launches brand new membership programme - Sun Club.

Keegan Bradley is fiery US Ryder Cup captain who still hasn't unpacked suitcase from last appearance 11 YEARS AGO
Bradley is set to become the Ryder Cup's first player-captain in 62 years CUP FOR IT Keegan Bradley is fiery US Ryder Cup captain who still hasn't unpacked suitcase from last appearance 11 YEARS AGO FIRE-BREATHING US Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley may just have given himself the chance to finally unlock the suitcase that has remained off for limits nearly 11 years. After experiencing a second successive Ryder Cup defeat at Gleneagles in 2014, Bradley vowed never to unpack his case until he finished on a winning USA team. Advertisement 4 Keegan Bradley won the Travelers Championship on Sunday Credit: Reuters 4 After losing the Ryder Cup in 2014, Bradley vowed never to unpack his case until he finished on a winning USA team Credit: Getty That looked increasingly unlikely as the man from Vermont failed to play his way back onto the team, was controversially snubbed for a wild card in 2023, and was then installed as US captain a year ago. But exactly a year to the day after he was asked if he wanted to take on the Ryder Cup captaincy, he clinched a victory that handed him a whole new dilemma. Bradley, who jumped at the chance to do the job Tiger Woods had already turned down, has spent the last year playing down his chances of becoming the Ryder Cup's first player-captain since Arnold Palmer doubled up in 1963. But after his dramatic win in the Travelers Championship, he admitted he would have to take a 'pretty hard look' at whether he should be on his own team. Advertisement READ MORE IN GOLF LINA ON ME Golf Wag Gretzky stuns in lacy lingerie in loved-up pics with DJ before US Open In front of a Connecticut crowd chanting 'USA, USA', Bradley took advantage of Tommy Fleetwood's three-putt bogey on the final hole by sinking a six footer for birdie - and a one shot victory. That propelled him to a career high seventh in the world rankings, and catapulted him from 17th to ninth on the Ryder Cup qualifying list. Only the top six qualify automatically. But the question now is whether Bradley, 39, can afford NOT to pick himself, unless his form falls off a cliff between now and September 26, when the battle with Europe begins at Bethpage Black in New York. No-one can doubt Bradley's passion for the Ryder Cup. Or anything else. Advertisement CASINO SPECIAL - BEST CASINO BONUSES FROM £10 DEPOSITS 4 Bradley is set to become the Ryder Cup's first player-captain in 62 years Credit: Reuters He has become famous for the sort of frenzied celebrations that followed his latest win - letting out a massive roar, screaming a few obscenities at the adoring New England crowds and chest bumping caddie Scott Vail. When he calmed down, a sheepish-looking Bradley confessed: 'I kind of lost it again there, didn't I? I might be in trouble with my mom for using some bad words.' Advertisement Keegan Bradley set for Ryder Cup job that hasn't existed for 62 years after stunning PGA Travellers Championship win It would not be the first time. Despite being known for his fiery nature, Bradley shocked plenty of people with his outburst in the USA's President Cup team room, shortly after holing the winning putt in their victory over the Internationals last year. He roared: "I've been doubted my whole f***ing life, That's when I do my best work. We are gonna go to Bethpage to kick their f***ing ass." Bradley later claimed he was surprised that comment was broadcast on Netflix's Full Swing series. Really? Advertisement They did not hold back from showing the stunned reaction of the entire Bradley family when he missed out on a wild card pick from Zach Johnson two years ago, with the out of form Jordan Spieth and Rickie Fowler picked ahead of him. Maybe the memory of how the Scottish crowd taunted Bradley over his exaggerated pre-shot routine - a dozen or more club twirls, and backing away from his ball a few times before pulling the trigger - counted against him. And his volatile on-course antics, which once saw him in a World Match Play face-off with Migel Angel Jimenez that had to be defused by a rules official, has also raised a few eyebrows. Off the course, Bradley is a completely different animal - a devoted family man who dotes on wife Jillian and their two sons. Advertisement 4 Bradley has formed a close friendship with basketball legend Michael Jordan Credit: Getty And he has formed a close friendship with basketball legend Michael Jordan. Bradley was their original brand ambassador when the range of Jordan golf shoes was launched, and he still wears them now. Do not be surprised if golf nut Jordan is one of the US cheerleaders at Bethpage Black in September. Bradley, 39, insists he will not surrender the US captaincy, 'under any circumstances'. Advertisement But he admitted the possibility of doubling up - and leaning more heavily on vice-captains Webb Simpson, Brandt Snedeker, Kevin Kinsner and Jim Furyk to look after the off course stuff - is now a real possibility. He said: 'This changes the story a little bit. I never would have thought about playing if I hadn't won. This definitely opens the door to play. 'I don't know if I'm going to do it or not, but I certainly have to take a pretty hard look at what's best for the team and we'll see. 'I never really planned on playing. I really wanted to just be the captain. I really felt strongly about that. I want to serve the guys. They asked me to do a job. I want to do it to the best of my abilities. Advertisement 'Now, with the amazing vice captains that I have, and I have a better perspective of playing in the Presidents Cup and being around a lot of the guys, I feel a lot more comfortable if I went that route.' 'It's still only June, so we've still got a long ways to go. This definitely changes things a little bit, and we'll all get together and figure out the best way to do this.'
