Controversy related to the India vs Pakistan match
In the wake of the Pahalgam Terror Attack, tensions have boiled between India and Pakistan, leading to a culmination of all the ties. In the aftermath, the public sentiment insists on boycotting Pakistan from all ends. Therefore, the popular opinion is that India should not indulge in any cricketing activity with Pakistan. In this aspect, BCCI has come under flak, and questions on its stand on cricket with Pakistan have emerged.
A similar case emanated in the second season of the World Championship of Legends, where the team of India legends pulled out of playing against the Pakistan Legends team. Big names like Harbhajan Singh, Shikhar Dhawan, Yuvraj Singh, and Suresh Raina, all backed out of playing Pakistan in the eleventh hour. Later, the team abdicated its contention to play in the final as well just because they were drawn against Pakistan in the semi-finals.
Given the grave situation, it will be interesting to note what will eventually transpire when the date when these two teams are scheduled to clash draws close.

Harry Brook capitalises on Mohammed Siraj's schoolboy error at Oval, joins Sir Don Bradman for huge milestone

Harry Brook capitalised on Mohammed Siraj's schoolboy error to slam his 10th Test hundred on day 4 of the fifth Test against India at the Oval on Sunday. Riding on Brook's hundred, England inched closer to another huge victory over India and a series victory in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. England are already leading 2-1 in the series. After coming in the middle after the dismissal Ollie Pope, Brook got a second life when Siraj stepped on the boundary line after completing the catch, much to the dismay of all Indians in the ground. Getting a top-edge off Prasidh Krishna's short ball, the red cherry went straight to the Indian pacer on the boundary. Just after Siraj completed the catch, one his legs touched the boundary rope, in an attempt to balance himself. Brook was on 19 at that time. As a result, Brook forged a 195-run stand with Joe Root to take the game away from the Indians. The partnership by Root and Brook was also the second highest for England against India in the fourth innings. An unbeaten 269 runs by Root and Jonny Bairstow at Edgbaston in 2022 still tops the list for England. Brook's hundred also made him the first batter after legendary Sir Don Bradman to complete 10 Test hundreds in 50 innings or less. Bradman completed the feat in 23 innings. Brook was finally dismissed for 111 off 98 balls when he holed out to Siraj at mid-off. His innings consisted of 14 fours and two sixes.

Joe Root Creates New Record, Becomes 1st Player In Tests To Score...

Last Updated: Root entered his name in the history books on Sunday by becoming the first cricketer to score 500+ runs in a Test series against India three times. Joe Root is arguably England's best batter of all time, and on Sunday (August 3) he entered his name in the history books by becoming the first cricketer in the world to score 500 runs in a Test series against India three times. Root needed 68 runs in the second innings of the fifth Test at The Oval to complete 500 runs in the ongoing series against India, and he achieved the objective during the second session of the fourth day's play. Root, who made his Test debut for England against India in Nagpur on December 13, 2012, amassed a total of 737 runs in five matches of the 2021-22 India-England Test series in England, and in the 2014 edition of the India-England Test series, he scored 518 runs in seven innings of five matches. Wally Hammond, Jack Hobbs, and Ken Barrington also scored more than 500 runs four times for England in a Test series. 500+ totals by England batters in a Test series (4 times) Root would like to convert his start into a big score now and help England successfully chase down the target of 374 runs to secure a memorable win over India and win the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy with a scoreline of 3-1. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
