Microsoft to report Q4 earnings as Wall Street looks for continued AI growth
Microsoft (MSFT) will report its fiscal fourth quarter earnings after the bell on Wednesday. Wall Street is looking for the software giant to offer up solid growth in its AI and cloud business as its customers explore further AI use cases. The Windows maker's earnings come a week after Google (GOOG, GOOGL) posted better-than-anticipated second quarter results on the strength of its cloud revenue growth, sending shares higher. The company also said it is pouring an additional $10 billion into its AI buildout, bringing the year's total from $75 billion to $85 billion. But investors were unperturbed by the increase and instead focused on CEO Sundar Pichai's commentary indicating that Search volume grew double digits in the quarter. Those results could bode well for Microsoft as investors look toward further AI sales gains. For the quarter, Wall Street is anticipating Microsoft to report adjusted earnings per share (EPS) of $3.37 on revenue of $73.89 billion, according to Bloomberg analyst consensus estimates. The company saw adj. EPS of $2.95 and revenue of $64.72 billion in the same period last year. Intelligent Cloud segment revenue, which includes Microsoft's Azure business, is expected to top out at $29.09 billion, up 22% from the $23.78 billion the company saw last year. Microsoft attributed 16 percentage points of growth in its Azure business to AI sales in Q3. For Q4, analysts are anticipating 17.25 percentage points of growth, up from 11 percentage points in Q4 2024. Part of the reason for that, Microsoft said, was growth in non-AI services, as well as more server capacity coming on line faster than anticipated. Still, the company expects demand to continue to outpace supply on the AI side for Q4. Despite Microsoft's solid growth, Wedbush analyst Dan Ives wrote in a recent investor note that the company's AI investments will truly take off in fiscal 2026. 'While AI use cases are building markedly in FY25, [it's] clear FY26 for Microsoft remains the true inflection year of AI growth as CIO lines build for deployments behind the velvet ropes in Redmond,' Ives wrote. BofA Global Research's Brad Sills, meanwhile, said that Microsoft's AI-powered Copilot software could serve as its next growth catalyst. 'While an inflection quarter is unlikely, we believe Copilot has potential to drive incremental growth as we move through FY26,' Sills wrote in an investor note. Shares of Microsoft were up more than 21% year to date as of noon Monday. Google's stock price was up just 13%, while Amazon's stock was up more than 27%. Microsoft is an AI leader thanks to its early investments in ChatGPT creator OpenAI ( But the companies are at odds over OpenAI's plans to transform its for-profit arm into a public benefit corporation and how much equity Microsoft will get in the new business. Without Microsoft getting onboard, OpenAI could lose out on $20 billion in investments, hurting its future growth prospects. Email Daniel Howley at dhowley@ Follow him on X/Twitter at @DanielHowley. Pixel 10 leak hints it's getting the magnetic Qi2 charging you've been waiting for
TL;DR A leak has provided new renders and details about the Pixel 10 series and some of its accessories. One of the renders shows a caseless Pixel 10 with a Qi2 charger attached. This would suggest that the Pixel 10 series will have magnets built in. With all of the Pixel 10 leaks that have surfaced in the last couple of weeks, you would think that there wouldn't be anything left to spoil. But it turns out that belief was wrong. Another leak has popped up, and it appears to support the existence of a feature Pixel fans have been hoping for. Trusted leaker Evan Blass took to X (formerly Twitter) today to release new renders and details on the Pixel 10 series and its accessories. The first part of this leak provides another look at the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold. Those renders are joined by their corresponding specs. Pixel 10 Pixel 10 Pro Pixel 10 Pro Fold In addition to the phones, this leak also delivers renders of the Pixel Watch 4, the Pixel Buds Pro 2, and a case for the Pixel 10 Pro. These renders show off the new Moonstone and Iris colorways, as well as Obsidian for the Pixel Watch 4. However, the juiciest part of this leak has to do with the Pixel 10's charger. Last month, Android Authority revealed that Google was working on an ecosystem of Qi2 accessories dubbed 'Pixelsnap.' This led to speculation that the new Pixel phones may have magnets built in. Some doubt later fell upon that hope after a report hinted that Google may only put magnets in its cases. Among the collection of images Blass shared today is this render of a caseless Pixel 10 with a Qi2 charger connected to the back. This strongly suggests that the Pixel 10 may indeed have built-in magnets after all. And if the Pixel 10 has this feature, there's a good chance the feature has been applied across the entire series. Of course, we'll find out everything about the Pixel 10 series when it launches. The tech giant has scheduled its Made by Google event for August 20, so we're only weeks away from the reveal. Shipments are said to start on August 28. Follow

Google is rolling out a fix for Home smart light voice control
TL;DR Google Home has been suffering from multiple connectivity issues going back about a week. Users have complained in particular about not being able to control smart lights via voice command. Google is currently deploying a fix for that smart light issue, but it sounds like others might remain. Google has a smart home problem. When you've got an entire household of smart devices all configured and running through Google Home, it's no surprise that glitches will occasionally pop up. Any while many of us will tolerate Google Home frustrations for years, things definitely feel like they've all of a sudden gotten much worse. But even as lawyers solicit users for a possible class-action response, the situation may finally be shifting back towards the better, as Google shares word of a new fix headed out. This most recent spate of incident reports started up about one week ago. Users described Home failing to control their devices, and Google was reasonably quick to acknowledge that this was, indeed, a new problem affecting Home. While that was a great start, and Google said that it would be working on a fix, that solution was not immediately available. Over the next few days, the problem only seemed to get worse, with controlling groups of lights emerging as a particular point of failure. We can't say yet just if this will resolve all the overarching issues impacting Home, but Google has finally shared that a fix for the glitch 'impacting the ability to target and control some lights using voice commands' has been created and is currently being distributed. In fact, the company itself seems uncertain just how effective this measure might be, and in its comments revealing the fix on Reddit, Google asks that any Home users still experiencing problems either reply there or submit feedback through the app. Even if Google does manage to resolve this current buggy behavior, will you still stick with Home, or are you tempted to drop it for an alternative like Alexa? For as annoying as setting everything up all over again sounds, at least we live in a world where we have our pick of multiple smart home solutions. Follow
