The Tu dress our fashion editor says will 'go with everything' - and other stylish items from Sainsbury's new collection

Daily Mail29-04-2025
Hold on to your shopping trolleys – Tu at Sainsbury's has launched its summer clothing collection, and there are quite a few pieces that wouldn't look out of place much pricier fashion ranges.
From chic co-ords in on-trend butter yellow, to flattering dresses that could be dressed up or down according to the occasion, there's plenty to love in Tu's latest drop. The details make them look more expensive; from elegant tortoiseshell-effect buttons to linen-blend fabrics. The new collection also includes accessories, with a range of affordable shoes and bags.
You magazine's fashion bookings editor Lila Flint Roberts is among the fans of the brand, and has shared with us the pieces she'll be snapping up from the Tu at Sainsbury's supermarket range this spring, plus her thoughts on each piece...
The goes-with-everything dress
£22.50 Shop
'I have this in khaki from last year, and it's the perfect do it all dress. I love the white and the fun Pepto-Bismol pink shade that Sainsbury's has brought out this year.'
The waistcoat £26
Shop
'This linen co-ord absolutely screams high-end. I'd wear this outfit either for work, or on a fun city break with the girls. Price-wise, it comes in at under £50 for both pieces which is a real steal – especially for the high percentage of linen in the fabric composition.'
The perfect summer trousers
£20 Shop
'Worn as a co-ord, I think this outfit might be little too much like pyjamas. But the trousers alone are so fun – striped poplin trousers were huge last year and I imagine they will still be trending this year. I love Tu's green version.'
'Fisherman sandals are quite a divisive trend, but if you're a fan then you'll love Tu's faux suede iteration here. They're a brilliant summer shoe – more practical than a flip flop but not as claustrophobic as a trainer.'
'These heeled mules will carry you through all of your weddings/birthdays/batmitzvahs this summer.'

Sainsbury's shoppers are racing to buy £7 leather boots with 'premium' look

The new-in Chelsea boots from Tu at Sainsbury's are perfect for the upcoming transitional weather Those on the hunt for a new pair of boots to welcome autumn should make a beeline for Tu at Sainsbury's. The supermarket has just unveiled its Black Faux Leather Chelsea Boots, ideal for the impending change in weather. Available in sizes three to eight, these chic Chelsea boots are made from faux leather, offering a luxe look and feel. They feature elasticated side panels, decorative buckle detail, and a zip fastening for easy wear. Priced at £22, savvy shoppers can snap them up for less than £7 via TopCashback. It might sound complicated, but it's a straightforward and cost-free process. New Tu customers and TopCashback members will receive a complimentary £15 sign-up bonus and cashback on their purchase, bringing the boots down to a mere £6.45 after all discounts. To make use of this deal, simply purchase the Black Faux Leather Chelsea Boots through this unique link. In other fashion news, Next is selling its Black Patent Standard/Wide Fit Forever Comfort Lace-Up Boots for £40. Available in both brown and black, they boast a timeless chunky silhouette perfect for autumn and winter, reports the Manchester Evening News. Alternatively, Dr. Martens' Audrick Nappa Lux Platform Ankle Boots are currently half price, reduced from £200 to £100. These boots are crafted from soft, smooth leather and feature a lightweight yet chunky sole. At Tu, the Black Faux Leather Chelsea Boots are yet to boast any reviews from customers but are sure to become a staple style as the weather cools. One potential snag is that they don't come in half sizes, which could pose a problem for those in between sizes. The boots are also crafted from faux leather, so those who favour footwear made from natural materials may wish to steer clear. If this is the case, Dune London's Plotto Leather Ankle Boots, on offer for £42, reduced from £140 at Debenhams, might be a more suitable choice.

How to wear trousers and recreate the elegant summer look Spanish women love for keeping them cool in the 40C heat

Take a look at the supermarket pair that are flying off the shelves HEATWAVE HERO How to wear trousers and recreate the elegant summer look Spanish women love for keeping them cool in the 40C heat LETS face it, us Brits are known for getting hot and bothered in the heat, be that abroad or in the UK. And when it comes to dressing we can often find ourselves a little stuck. Advertisement I find looking towards countries who have a lot more sunshine helps. And of course the Spaniards are classed as one of the chicest and stylish nationalities around. So why not take some inspiration from what their city-dwellers wear during the hottest months? It may seem backwards but sometimes covering up can actually make you cooler. Advertisement And this certainly applies with trousers. A pair of wide leg trousers in thin, cooling fabrics such as linen and cotton, will keep the heat off, plus leave you looking put together and extra stylish. And whilst these kinds of trousers come in lots of different colours, it is a well known fact that lighter colours repel the light - making beige a great neutral option that will go with everything in your wardrobe. Here, Deputy Fashion Editor Abby McHale gives you the low down on the seven best pairs of beige trousers - perfect for summer. Advertisement 7 Trousers, £45, M&S Credit: M&S, £45 - BUY NOW It's no secret that linen is a great fabric for summer, but finding the right pair can be tricky. M&S has some great options that you can wear everyday, like this pair for £45. I'm a petite mum & found the dream trouser co-ord for my short gals, it's only £15 Coming in four different leg sizes, it also has pockets and a zip fastening to give them more structure, but an elasticated back to give extra stretch and keep the comfort factor. Advertisement 7 Trousers, £29.99, Zara Credit: This pair from Zara is all about the comfort factor. With a full elastic waist and super light flowy fabric, these are the perfect pair for a warm summer day. With crinkle material it also means you don't have to worry about ironing, so if you're packing them to head away they're fuss free. Advertisement 7 Trousers, £18, Tu at Sainsbury's Credit: Tu at Sainsbury's, £18 - BUY NOW For just £18 this pair from Tu at Sainsbury's is a bargain. Floaty fabric, elasticated waist and the wide leg style makes these comfortable, stylish and flattering. Coming in sizes 8-24, this also comes with a matching beige top if you want to wear as a co-ord. Advertisement 7 Trousers, £24, Primark Credit: These poplin style trousers are part of Primark's The Edit range, a more premium collection but still with a great price tag. Made from cotton-rich fabric that will still keep you cool, the sturdiness of the fabric means that these are also great to wear day to day and can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. With pleats down the front to give a structured feel, as well as pockets for an extra detail. Advertisement 7 Trousers, £26, Next Credit: Next, £26 - BUY NOW Next has some great floaty trouser options for summer, like this pair for just £26. With a tie waist, meaning you can give yourself as much shape as you like, the crinkle fabric also means no ironing needed. With pockets to go with, this pair is the perfect, easy throw on thing you need to have in your wardrobe. Advertisement 7 Trousers, £24.99, H&M Credit: H&M, £24.99 - BUY NOW A pair that will keep you cool in the summer but also a great transitional trouser as we head into autumn, H&M has ticked the box. With seam detailing, back and front pockets as well as a double tie belt - this pair has a lot going on for all the right reasons. Wear with everything from vests and t-shirts to shirts and blouses. Advertisement 7 Trousers, £49.99, Mango Credit: Mango, £49.99 - BUY NOW You may not expect this pair from Mango to be lightweight and breathable, but made from cotton, it certainly is. Buttons, zips, pockets and belt loops make this a high spec pair of trousers and whilst for £49.99 may be one of the pricier pairs in the lineup it's certainly worth it. As this is a pair you will certainly be able to wear all year round.

The perfect dress for ‘sticky' hot days has landed in Sainsbury's for just £22.50 & it's a must-have for summer holidays

IT'S that time of year again when many of us are preparing for a holiday in the sunshine. From making sure you have the right luggage to filling it with summer staples, and Sainsbury's has just the thing. 2 Shoppers are going wild for The Lobster Printed Strappy Midaxi Dress that is currently available in stores and online. The print features mosaic tiles each filled with different Mediterranean-inspired themes. Printed on the tiles are an array of summer items such as lemons, starfish, chillis, crabs and lobsters, making you reminisce about sitting by the beach enjoying a plate of fresh seafood. The dress features hints of blue, yellow and sunburnt orange to add to the summer vibe. It comes in a midaxi length and it's loose fit makes it classy and comfortable all at the same time. It features a low V-neck front and back with thin straps, making it an effortless style you can dress up or down. The dress is perfect for the beach with a pair of sandals and can also be styled with heeled shoes for the evening. It comes in an inclusive size range starting at a 6 and going up to a size 24. The best part is that the dress is super budget-friendly coming in at just £22.50. TU bosses say: "Designed in a orange lobster print for a distinctive summer look, this sun dress is a chic choice for beach days and sun-soaked getaways. I'm 5ft3 & a size 12-14 - my 7 Tesco dresses are an absolute bargain & perfect for a last-minute wedding guest outfit "Cut to midaxi length, it comes in a loose, flowing silhouette - finished with shoulder straps and a v-neckline." Shoppers who already bought the dress raved about it online, scoring it 4.9 out of 5. One person wrote: "Absolutely beautiful dress, lightweight and perfect for this hot sticky weather! Get lots of compliments when wearing this dress." Another commented: "I'm very happy with this purchase, really cool and easy to wear for our recent heatwave." "I love this dress! It's so comfortable to wear which is perfect for summer days and evenings. I really love the fact that it has pockets," penned a third. Is supermarket fashion the new high street? DEPUTY Fashion Editor Abby McHale weighs in: The supermarkets have really upped their game when it comes to their fashion lines. These days, as you head in to do your weekly food shop you can also pick up a selection of purse-friendly, stylish pieces for all the family. Tesco has just announced a 0.7 per cent increase in the quarter thanks to a 'strong growth in clothing' and M&S has earned the title of the number one destination for womenswear on the high street. Asda's clothing line George has made £1.5 million for the supermarket in 2023, 80 per cent of Sainsbury's clothes sold at full price rather than discounted and Nutmeg at Morrisons sales are also up 2 per cent in the past year. So what is it about supermarket fashion that is becoming so successful? Apart from the clothing actually being affordable, it's good quality too - with many being part of schemes such as the Better Cotton Initiative. A lot of the time they keep to classic pieces that they know will last the customer year after year. Plus because they buy so much stock they can turn around pieces quickly and buy for cheaper because of the volumes. Meanwhile a fourth said: "Love this dress! Flatteringly flowy and cool and too nice to just be saved for holidays!" "Very comfortable to wear. May buy another one to put away for my holiday!' claimed a fifth
