Bhool Chuk Maaf box office collection day 6: Rajkummar Rao, Wamiqa Gabbi's film surpasses Game Changer, The Diplomat
The Rajkummar Rao-starrer romantic comedy Bhool Chuk Maaf is no Stree 2, but it's progressing slowly and surely at the domestic box office. Despite the limited shelf life it has before its unusual two-week theatrical window runs out, Bhool Chuk Maaf continues to attract footfalls in theatres across India. The film earned Rs 3.25 crore on Wednesday, which was a drop from its Monday and Tuesday earnings. Ever since its collection rose to double digits on Sunday (Rs 11.5 crore), it's not been able to attain that level again. The film earned Rs 9.5 crore and Rs 7 crore on its first Saturday and Friday, respectively.
As per industry tracker Sacnilk, the current domestic box office collection of Bhool Chuk Maaf is Rs 40.5 crore. On Tuesday, it had already crossed the lifetime domestic earnings of Rosshan Andrrews' cop thriller Deva, starring Shahid Kapoor (Rs 33.97 crore), which was released earlier this year. Having surpassed the Rs 40 crore mark on Wednesday, it's now also beaten the Hindi dubbed version of S Shankar's action drama Game Changer, starring Ram Charan and Kiara Advani, which collected Rs 37.47 crore in India.
Since Bhool Chuk Maaf is expected to add another few crores to its earnings today, it will likely pass the domestic collection of Shivam Nair's thriller The Diplomat, starring John Abraham (Rs 40.75 crore). In the process, it's also beaten the re-release box office collection of Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru's romantic comedy Sanam Teri Kasam, which made Rs 35.55 crore.
Bhool Chuk Maaf has a clear field of about eight days before two major releases pose threat to its momentum. Firstly, Tarun Manshukhani's whodunit comedy Housefull 5 will hit cinemas on June 6, boasting of a huge ensemble with the likes of Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, and Jackie Shroff among others. A day prior to that, the Hindi dubbed version of Mani Ratnam's crime thriller Thug Life, starring Kamal Haasan, Simbu, and Trisha, will also hit the theatres.
Directed and written by Karan Sharma, Bhool Chuk Maaf marks the first on-screen pairing of Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi. It also stars Seema Pahwa, Raghubir Yadav, Zakir Hussain, and Sanjay Mishra among others. The film is presented by Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films along with Amazon MGM Studios.

Bhool Chuk Maaf was initially slated to release in cinemas on May 9. However, on the eve of its theatrical release, the makers announced they'll drop the film directly on Prime Video India the following week, given the heightened security drills across India following Operation Sindoor. However, leading multiplex chain PVR INOX sued Maddock Films for breach of contract, leading to a settlement that the film would release in cinemas on May 23, and will be followed by its digital release on Prime Video India on June 6 in just two weeks, as a one-off exception.

Last month ETimes had reported how the period between April 10 to May 10 has been absolutely a fruitful period for the box office with releases like 'Jaat', 'Kesari 2' and 'Raid 2'. However, the trend has continued to stay all through May with some numbers coming in at the box office. While 'Raid 2' continued to dominate at the screens after releasing on May 1, the momentum continued with 'Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning' which released on May 17 followed by 'Bhool Chuk Maaf' on May 23. Here's a detailed box office analysis of May and these movies: Raid 2 is a HIT 'Raid 2' is now nearing its lifetime run at the box office and the film has collected Rs 168.74 crore till its Day 33 now which is Monday, June 2. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh told ETimes, "Good films will always find an audience. Mission Impossible and Final Destination - one came on Thursday and the Tom Cruise film came on Saturday. Film trade expert Girish Wankhede opined, "The release of 'Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning' has marked a significant resurgence for Hollywood in India, signaling a potential revival of interest in Hollywood amidst a landscape increasingly dominated by South Indian films. Paramount's strategic decision to debut the film six days ahead of its U.S. release has paid off handsomely, as Indian audiences eagerly anticipated this latest installment of the iconic franchise. 'Bhool Chuk Maaf' emerges strong after all the conflict There was a huge conflict around the release of 'Bhool Chuk Maaf' as the makers got into a legal battle with PVR Inox. Eventually, the film didn't release on OTT and hit the theatres on May 23. Meanwhile, another Hollywood title, 'Final Destination,' also performed admirably, securing ₹55 crores in its run. Adarsh says, "I'm not considering the dubbed versions but there are three major releases in June - 'Housefull 5', 'Sitaare Zameen Par' and 'Maa'. So, one only hopes that June should be even bigger. We can be optimistic." 'Housefull 5' has really high expectations as it's set to release on June 6. The film stars Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Nana Patekar, Sanjay Dutt, Jacqueline Fernandez, Fardeen Khan, Sonam Bajwa, Nargis Fakhri, Johnny Lever among many others. 'Sitaare Zameen Par' is Aamir Khan's big comeback after 'Laal Singh Chaddha' and the hopes from this one are also really high. Meanwhile, Kajol will be seen in a mythological horror film 'Maa' and it's from the house of 'Shaitaan'. The trailer has got a great response. Apar from the new releases, 'Mission Impossible' also continues to spill over in June and will now inch towards the Rs 100 crore mark, thus will contribute to the June numbers as well.
