Bhool Chuk Maaf box office collection day 6: Rajkummar Rao, Wamiqa Gabbi's film surpasses Game Changer, The Diplomat
The Rajkummar Rao-starrer romantic comedy Bhool Chuk Maaf is no Stree 2, but it's progressing slowly and surely at the domestic box office. Despite the limited shelf life it has before its unusual two-week theatrical window runs out, Bhool Chuk Maaf continues to attract footfalls in theatres across India. The film earned Rs 3.25 crore on Wednesday, which was a drop from its Monday and Tuesday earnings. Ever since its collection rose to double digits on Sunday (Rs 11.5 crore), it's not been able to attain that level again. The film earned Rs 9.5 crore and Rs 7 crore on its first Saturday and Friday, respectively.
As per industry tracker Sacnilk, the current domestic box office collection of Bhool Chuk Maaf is Rs 40.5 crore. On Tuesday, it had already crossed the lifetime domestic earnings of Rosshan Andrrews' cop thriller Deva, starring Shahid Kapoor (Rs 33.97 crore), which was released earlier this year. Having surpassed the Rs 40 crore mark on Wednesday, it's now also beaten the Hindi dubbed version of S Shankar's action drama Game Changer, starring Ram Charan and Kiara Advani, which collected Rs 37.47 crore in India.
Since Bhool Chuk Maaf is expected to add another few crores to its earnings today, it will likely pass the domestic collection of Shivam Nair's thriller The Diplomat, starring John Abraham (Rs 40.75 crore). In the process, it's also beaten the re-release box office collection of Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru's romantic comedy Sanam Teri Kasam, which made Rs 35.55 crore.
Bhool Chuk Maaf has a clear field of about eight days before two major releases pose threat to its momentum. Firstly, Tarun Manshukhani's whodunit comedy Housefull 5 will hit cinemas on June 6, boasting of a huge ensemble with the likes of Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, and Jackie Shroff among others. A day prior to that, the Hindi dubbed version of Mani Ratnam's crime thriller Thug Life, starring Kamal Haasan, Simbu, and Trisha, will also hit the theatres.
Directed and written by Karan Sharma, Bhool Chuk Maaf marks the first on-screen pairing of Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi. It also stars Seema Pahwa, Raghubir Yadav, Zakir Hussain, and Sanjay Mishra among others. The film is presented by Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films along with Amazon MGM Studios.

Bhool Chuk Maaf was initially slated to release in cinemas on May 9. However, on the eve of its theatrical release, the makers announced they'll drop the film directly on Prime Video India the following week, given the heightened security drills across India following Operation Sindoor. However, leading multiplex chain PVR INOX sued Maddock Films for breach of contract, leading to a settlement that the film would release in cinemas on May 23, and will be followed by its digital release on Prime Video India on June 6 in just two weeks, as a one-off exception.

Akshaye Khanna's untold journey: From star kid setbacks to Bollywood's most underrated powerhouse
In the world of Bollywood, where nepotism often opens doors, not every star kid's journey is paved with gold. Akshaye Khanna , the son of legendary actor Vinod Khanna , had all the makings of a Bollywood success story — a powerful lineage, a grand launch, and early exposure to the film industry. But his story is far more complex — and far more compelling. A high-profile debut that didn't deliver Akshaye made his big-screen debut in 1997 with Himalay Putra, a film that was meant to establish him as the next big thing in Bollywood. Despite its promising setup and backing from an influential film family, the movie failed to leave a mark at the box office. Breakthrough with Border changed everything Later that same year, his fortunes took a turn with J.P. Dutta's Border. The war epic became a major commercial success and gave Akshaye the breakthrough he desperately needed. His restrained yet impactful performance stood out even in a crowded ensemble, marking the beginning of a career built on solid acting chops. Not just a hero — a versatile performer Over the years, Akshaye Khanna proved his range through diverse roles. He was the soulful romantic in Taal, the charming rebel in Dil Chahta Hai, the cunning husband in Humraaz, and the stylish antagonist in Race. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Southampton: £19.99 Will-Writing Service Legacy Wills & Estate Planning Undo He also delivered power-packed performances in critically acclaimed films like Mom, Ittefaq, Section 375, and the blockbuster Drishyam 2. In his most recent outing, Chhava, the film reportedly grossed over Rs 800 crore worldwide, yet again cementing Akshaye's status as a compelling on-screen presence. A personal life cloaked in mystery Despite his cinematic success, Akshaye's personal life has always remained a mystery. Few know that he was once romantically linked to Karisma Kapoor. Reports suggest that Randhir Kapoor had even proposed a marriage between the two, but Babita Kapoor allegedly declined, wanting Karisma to prioritise her booming career. Akshaye Khanna turns 48: Old video of actor dancing with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan goes VIRAL A bizarre what-if in Bollywood history Among the most bizarre rumours surrounding Akshaye is his reported desire to marry the late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, who was 27 years older than him. While unconfirmed, the story continues to circulate as one of Bollywood's strangest behind-the-scenes tales. The enigma of Akshaye Khanna Now in his 50s, Akshaye remains one of Hindi cinema's most elusive yet respected actors. With 'Raid 2', 'Mission Impossible', 'Bhool Chuk Maaf', May has been good at the box office with over Rs 300 crore; June looks promising with three big releases, find out!
Last month ETimes had reported how the period between April 10 to May 10 has been absolutely a fruitful period for the box office with releases like 'Jaat', 'Kesari 2' and 'Raid 2'. However, the trend has continued to stay all through May with some numbers coming in at the box office. While 'Raid 2' continued to dominate at the screens after releasing on May 1, the momentum continued with 'Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning' which released on May 17 followed by 'Bhool Chuk Maaf' on May 23. Here's a detailed box office analysis of May and these movies: Raid 2 is a HIT 'Raid 2' is now nearing its lifetime run at the box office and the film has collected Rs 168.74 crore till its Day 33 now which is Monday, June 2. It collected much more than the lifetime collection of 'Raid'. This is the number in India. The worldwide number is much higher. The total collection of the first part was Rs 103 crore net in India. Thus, the second installment has done much better and can be called a hit now. According to Box Office India, the collections of 'Raid 2' were 10 percent better than 'Shaitaan' though collections in South India and Odisha will remain less. Mission Impossible nearing the Rs 100 crore mark Just as 'Raid 2' was beginning to lose its steam, one saw the release of Tom Cruise starrer 'Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning'. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Promoções imperdíveis de voos baratos Voos | Anúncios de Pesquisa Saiba Mais Undo The movie has collected Rs 91.1 crore net in India which is a huge number and soon it's nearing the Rs 100 crore mark. Out of this, the maximum collection has come from the English version followed by the Hindi version. The film released on May 17 in India and turned out to be one of the biggest Hollywood openers. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh told ETimes, "Good films will always find an audience. Mission Impossible and Final Destination - one came on Thursday and the Tom Cruise film came on Saturday. Both the films have found an audience, of course Mission Impossible has found a bigger audience. But it's a good sign as people are coming back to theatres." Film trade expert Girish Wankhede opined, "The release of 'Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning' has marked a significant resurgence for Hollywood in India, signaling a potential revival of interest in Hollywood amidst a landscape increasingly dominated by South Indian films. Paramount's strategic decision to debut the film six days ahead of its U.S. release has paid off handsomely, as Indian audiences eagerly anticipated this latest installment of the iconic franchise. It is the highest opening day of a Hollywood film in 2025, surpassing even the much-anticipated 'Captain America: Brave New World.' 'Bhool Chuk Maaf' emerges strong after all the conflict There was a huge conflict around the release of 'Bhool Chuk Maaf' as the makers got into a legal battle with PVR Inox. Eventually, the film didn't release on OTT and hit the theatres on May 23. It had a great opening number on Day 1 owing to the discounted ticket prices, however, it continued to remain decently well even after the opening day. The total collection of the film so far, by the end of 11 days, is Rs 60.63 crore according to Sacnilk. PVR Inox CEO had rubbished reports that the film is doing well only because of discounted ticket prices and said that it's genuinely doing well. He also spoke about how May is good month for cinemas. He wrote on X (formerly Twitter), "Some wrote off #BhoolChukMaaf citing 'discount offers' or 'lack of appeal'😇 The box office tells a very different story — it's a genuine HIT💥 May has revived theatres, audiences are back in big numbers, and the big screens are booming all over the country." Summing up May! Clearly, with three big releases, May has been a great month for the box office. A cumulative number of these three biggies comes when added together comes to Rs 320.47 crore which is huge! Taran Adarsh agrees that May has been a massive month for the movies and highly encouraging. Wankhede explains that the Month has been good at the box office, also considering the south movies. He says, "May 2025 has proven to be an exceptional month for the Indian film industry, showcasing a remarkable blend of Bollywood, South Indian cinema, and Hollywood productions, all of which have achieved impressive box office results. The month kicked off with a blockbuster opening week, highlighted by the film 'Raid 2' which garnered a staggering ₹231 crores worldwide. This film's success set a positive tone for the month, drawing in audiences with its compelling storyline and star-studded cast. Following closely was the Tamil film 'Tourist Family,' which made an impressive mark by raking in around ₹87 crores." He adds, "In addition, the Telugu film 'Hit 3' continued the momentum by achieving a commendable ₹119 crores, further underscoring the strength of regional films in the Indian market. Another Tamil release 'Retro' also made headlines by generating approximately ₹97 crores, demonstrating the diverse tastes of Indian audiences and their willingness to embrace quality storytelling, regardless of the language. " Wankhede continues, "As the month progressed, two major Hollywood franchises debuted in the third week, further enriching the cinematic offerings available to Indian viewers. 'Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning' managed to captivate audiences, amassing around ₹90 crores despite facing limited screen availability. Meanwhile, another Hollywood title, 'Final Destination,' also performed admirably, securing ₹55 crores in its run. The fact that it achieved such numbers with fewer screens speaks volumes about the draw of established franchises and the loyalty of their fanbases." June to be even bigger? Adarsh says, "I'm not considering the dubbed versions but there are three major releases in June - 'Housefull 5', 'Sitaare Zameen Par' and 'Maa'. So, one only hopes that June should be even bigger. We can be optimistic." 'Housefull 5' has really high expectations as it's set to release on June 6. The film stars Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Nana Patekar, Sanjay Dutt, Jacqueline Fernandez, Fardeen Khan, Sonam Bajwa, Nargis Fakhri, Johnny Lever among many others. 'Sitaare Zameen Par' is Aamir Khan's big comeback after 'Laal Singh Chaddha' and the hopes from this one are also really high. Meanwhile, Kajol will be seen in a mythological horror film 'Maa' and it's from the house of 'Shaitaan'. The trailer has got a great response. Apar from the new releases, 'Mission Impossible' also continues to spill over in June and will now inch towards the Rs 100 crore mark, thus will contribute to the June numbers as well. Mani Ratnam Backs Deepika Padukone Over Spirit Exit: ‘Glad She's In A Position To Ask'
Last Updated: Mani Ratnam defends Deepika Padukone after her reported Spirit exit, calling her demands rightful and reasonable amid backlash over her work terms. Deepika Padukone's reported exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit has triggered massive online debate. Anonymous sources claimed that the actor made several 'unprofessional" demands, including working only eight hours a day, a fee of Rs 20 crore, a profit-sharing clause and allegedly declining to deliver dialogues in Telugu. Now, acclaimed filmmaker Mani Ratnam has come forward in support of Deepika amid the backlash. Without mincing words, he addressed the criticism the actor has been facing over her demands. 'I think it is a rightful demand," Ratnam told us. 'I'm glad she's in a position to ask for it. I think as a filmmaker, you will take that into consideration when you cast. It is not an unreasonable thing to ask, but an absolute necessity. I think that should be the priority. You have to acknowledge that, understand it and work around it," the filmmaker added. Earlier, actor Ajay Devgn also weighed in on the controversy. When asked about the 8-hour shift requirement reportedly made by Deepika, he said, 'It's not that it's not going down well with people. Most of the honest filmmakers will not have problems with it. And apart from this, being a mother and working for eight hours, most people have started working eight-nine hours shifts." Deepika was signed opposite Prabhas in Spirit, marking her second Telugu-language pan-India film after Kalki 2898 AD. However, reports of her opting out of the film surfaced recently, with speculation suggesting that her terms were not met. The actor has not publicly commented on the development. Following the buzz, the makers announced that Triptii Dimri has been roped in to play the female lead opposite Prabhas. This reunites Triptii with director Sandeep Reddy Vanga after their successful collaboration on Animal. Soon after, Vanga appeared to address the situation indirectly on X (formerly Twitter). Without naming anyone, he expressed disappointment over a leaked script and questioned the motivations behind it. 'When I narrate a story to an actor, I place 100% faith. There is an unsaid NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement) between us. But by doing this, you've 'DISCLOSED' the person that you are…. Putting down a younger actor and ousting my story? Is this what your feminism stands for?" he wrote. First Published: June 02, 2025, 20:48 IST
