Viper Power: Widebody Honda S2000 Gets A Real Engine
Read the full story on Backfire News
Normally, a Honda S2000 is pretty cute little toy for the wife to drive around, but they're not a serious threat on the track. However, this one with a Dodge Viper V10 crammed under the hood is something else entirely. This is the roadster Honda not only was afraid to build, but couldn't pull it off had it wanted to.Donated by a 2006 Dodge Viper, the V10 engine is rated at 510-horsepower and 535 lb.-ft. of torque, well beyond the little four-banger Honda used. With that big power boost, plus a number of other modifications like the flared out fenders, this little car can really move.
One would think dropping a big, heavy engine like a Viper's V10 into the S2000, a car known for being incredibly well balanced would make it handle like garbage. But the owner says that's not even close to true. According to him, the front-to-rear weight distribution is 47-to-53. In other words, it's not quite perfect but still good enough to handle quite well.
What's hilarious about this build is the owner bought it from someone who already had the engine in the car. He became aware of it after seeing people on an S2000 forum mocking the unfinished project. Instead of laughing at the ridiculousness of such a thing, he saw potential and ran with it.
However, he says he had to rip everything out and start over, including fabricating a number of parts. It's not like there are online guides for doing a Viper V10 engine swap into a Honda S2000. He also added Penske adjustable shocks and installed a close-ratio steering rack out of Mustang, not the mention a rear differential from a Ford Expedition.
The body is made up of different aftermarket parts modified to fit, if not fabricated by the owner himself. He is a true trailblazer with this build, that's for sure.
Watch the video to see and hear just how much a fire breather this heavily modified Honda S2000 is.

Here's What Honda's Doing for the LA Olympics for 2028
Honda will donate $1 million over four years to the Los Angeles Olympics, coming in 2028, and to the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics next year. Numerous Honda vehicles will be part of the deal, from minivans and SUVs to ATVs, SxSs, motorcycles, and even Motocompactos. The donations will also cover the Paralympics. Honda has contributed much to various charities and good causes over the years, including donations and loans of vehicles. You can't make an illegal left turn in Pasadena without running into a Honda Tournament of Roses Odyssey, for instance. The brand will continue that wheeled goodwill when the Olympics comes to Los Angeles in 2028, with a fleet of all manner of Honda vehicles to be used by organizers and others in support of the Olympics and Special Olympic Games getting under way in three years. 'Honda will help the world's greatest athletes pursue their dreams in 2028 as a Founding Partner of the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games,' the carmaker announced yesterday at its Torrance, California, headquarters, just a half hour's freeway drive south of the very Coliseum that hosted the Games in 1932 and 1984—and will host them again in '28. Exactly which Hondas will be involved has not been sorted out yet. 'It'll be a lot of Honda and Acura EVs,' said Phil Hruka, senior manager of marketing and brand strategy for Honda and Acura. 'It won't just be cars and SUVs. Look for our ATVs, motorcycles, side-by-sides, marine engines, and Motocompactos, too.' Honda's sponsorship of the Paralympic Games was highlighted by the presence of paralympic wheelchair athlete Susannah Scaroni, who has been working with Honda on her racing wheelchair since the company started building them in 2021. Scaroni showed me photos of her race chair, with a carbon-fiber seat that had been created from scans of her body, and tuned for aerodynamic efficiency. The front wheel has properties that keep it centered while moving, but with her form-fitted seat she can turn it just by leaning her body. 'It's a lot better,' she said of the Honda wheelchair's performance. Honda's $1 million investment allows it to serve as the Official Automotive Partner of Team USA, supporting the United States Olympic and Paralympic teams during the LA28 Games and the upcoming Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in Milano Cortina 2026. Honda's by no means the only automaker involved in charitable giving: Toyota USA Foundation is known for its support of K-12 STEM education; General Motors supports STEAM education wherein the A stands for Arts; Hyundai's Hope On Wheels supports pediatric cancer research; and the Ford Foundation supports causes too numerous to name here. That's just a few automotive charities. And yes, there are probably tax benefits and good PR. Nonetheless… Look for Honda vehicles starting at the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in Milano Cortina next year, and all over LA in 2028. Do charitable donations sway your buying choices? Olympics get Honda as auto sponsor for 2028 Summer Games in Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES -- The organizing committee for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles signed Honda as a 'founding partner' Monday, giving the upcoming Summer Games their sixth new sponsor this year and their first tier-one sponsor since 2021. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Price tags for this level of sponsorship have been reported to start at around $200 million. The deal fills a hole for LA28 in the automotive category, which is considered one of the most important in the Olympic world. Toyota had been the Olympics auto sponsor before declining to renew its deal after 2024. Delta and Comcast are the other top-level sponsors for LA28. John Slusher, the CEO of U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Properties, told Sports Business Journal that the new deal brings the operation to more than $1.5 billion in sponsorship sales, with a goal of $2.5 billion. Part of this deal calls for Honda to work with the organizing committee on a vehicle fleet to help move athletes and officials around Southern California during the games.
