Hyundai Hope On Wheels Commits $27M More For Pediatric Cancer Research
Emmy and Jackson, Hyundai Hope on Wheels ambassadors and cancer survivors.
Hyundai Hope on Wheels was founded in 1998 by the automaker and its 850-plus U.S.-based dealerships. For the last 27 years, the nonprofit has focused on providing grants to eligible institutions pursuing critical research to solve the devastating problem of pediatric cancer; so far, that amount has swelled to $277 million.
This week, Hyundai announced it would be adding a cherry on top of that generous sundae: an additional $27 million, one million for each of its years of service. This level of funding is critical to medical research, and the Hyundai Hope on Wheels organization is finding ways to distribute it as much as possible.
Emmy Cole, ambassador for Hyundai Hope on Wheels.
Two young cancer survivors, Emmy Cole and Jackson Trinh, are traveling around the country representing Hyundai Hope on Wheels as ambassadors for the nonprofit. Cole and Trinh are 12 and 10 years old, respectively, and they've been through tough journeys in their young lives.
Cole was only two when doctors told her parents she had High-Risk Neuroblastoma and spent many, many nights in the hospital. She has been in remission for six years and is upbeat and hopeful about her future, using her voice to share her story and help others. Albuquerque, New Mexico resident Trinh was seven when he started experiencing intense pain in his leg. At first, doctors thought he was having growing pains but when the fevers started he was diagnosed with B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. He's also in remission and enthusiastic about helping other kids going through cancer treatment.
'As a parent, I can only imagine the challenges families endure when a child is battling cancer,' said President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Group José Muñoz.
Hyundai Hope on Wheels says it's focusing on not just the treatment but 'survivorship' for kids going through cancer treatment onto recovery. Parents and families navigating the process need support throughout, the organization says.
Hyundai Hope on Wheels has contributed $277 million to pediatric cancer research, with another $27 ... More million earmarked for 2025.
Hyundai is celebrating the organization's outreach by expanding its program even further. Hyundai Hope on Wheels launched in Canada in February and will follow with Mexico later this month.
'Hyundai Hope on Wheels has been a driving force in pediatric cancer research for nearly three decades, and we are proud to expand its reach beyond the U.S. to support children throughout North America,' said CEO of Hyundai Motor North America Randy Parker.
As grants across the country are currently limited and shrinking from a federal perspective, private company support like the millions of dollars coming from Hyundai Hope on Wheels will make a big difference. The automaker's support allows researchers to focus on the critical work in the lab and not be distracted by the seemingly endless cycle of applying for grants, explained Norman J. Beauchamp Jr., MD, MHS, executive vice president for health sciences, Georgetown University Medical Center.
Hyundai Hope on Wheels is making a difference in the fight against pediatric cancer and putting its money to good use for a better future for kids and their families.

Hyundai Ioniq 6 N Teaser Is Our Best Look at the New Hi-Po EV Sedan
The 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 6 N is just around the corner, as the automaker today released several teaser photos. The images show the high-performance electric sedan's side profile, rear wing, taillight design, and more. While Hyundai hasn't released any powertrain details, the Ioniq 6 N is expected to share the 641-hp all-wheel-drive setup that powers the Ioniq 5 N. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, our reigning EV of the Year, is about to get a baby sister. Hyundai has just released a handful of teaser photos that give us our best look at the forthcoming Ioniq 6 N, which was hinted at earlier this year when the Korean automaker shared details about the refreshed 2026 Ioniq 6. Hyundai While the various photos only show shadowy elements of the racy sedan, we now have an up-close look at its prominent rear wing and ducktail spoiler. Hyundai also says that the Ioniq 6 N will feature flared fenders that accompany a wider stance. Under those wheel arches will be a set of lightweight wheels, which, in the picture above, are more than willing to do smokey burnouts. As with the Ioniq 5 N, we expect the 6 to come with bigger brakes and stickier tires than the version that your local librarian drives. Hyundai The Hyundai Ioniq 6 N will feature pixel-like elements in its taillights, as seen below, but there also appear to be individual pixels that dot its trunklid, like a reverse version of a Ford Raptor's grille-mounted clearance lights. Hyundai also says the I6N will emphasize a trio of performance pillars, our favorite being "Corner Rascal." The other two names are boring by comparison: "Everyday Sports Car" and "Racetrack Capability." Yawn. Still, there should be nothing yawn-inducing about an electric sedan with more horsepower than a V-8-powered Mustang. Hyundai Hyundai didn't release any concrete details about the upcoming Ioniq 6 N. However, it did say earlier this year that the hi-po EV sedan will be revealed sometime in July. When that happens, we expect to find out that it features the same 641-hp all-wheel-drive powertrain as the Ioniq 5 N. That model currently starts at just over $67K—a performance bargain, if you ask us. The 6 N will likely come in under the $70K mark, but we'll have to wait and see. 2ND N EV: Hyundai Teases Upcoming 2026 Ioniq 6 N High-Performance Sedan
Hyundai's N Division has released the first images of its coming new 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 6 N sedan, the next vehicle in Hyundai's portfolio to get its performance sub-brand's monster makeover. Aiming to build on the smashing success of the Ioniq 5 N, we expect the sedan version to be just as potent, if not more so, than the existing 5 N. Hyundai's N Division teases the 2026 Ioniq 6 N, a high-performance EV sedan with over 600 horsepower, dual motors, and advanced software features. It features aerodynamic design updates, aggressive styling, and promises enhanced stability and performance akin to the successful Ioniq 5 N. This summary was generated by AI using content from this MotorTrend article Read Next What that means exactly we don't know for sure quite yet, but it's a good bet that the Ioniq 6 N will come loaded with just about everything that made the 5 N such a hit with our staff and the public at large. Expect in excess of 600 horsepower out of what should be a dual-motor arrangement that helped propel the 5 N to a blistering 2.8 second to 60 mph number, making it one of the quickest SUVs we've ever tested, regardless of powertrain. Also expect all the innovative software wizardry and likely more of it that the N's engineers coded up for the Ioniq 5 N, including the N E-Shift that mimics an 8-speed dual clutch transmission—a feature that blew our minds and subsequently helped score Hyundai an inaugural MotorTrend Best Technology Award. It was one of a raft of digitized dynamics we lauded as borderline revolutionary. As for what we can make of the first images of the Ioniq 6 N, it sports several evolutionary design cues that are rolling out as part of the broader 2026 Ioniq 6 lineup, including a reworked front end and some significant updating of the present sedan's controversial rear spoiler arrangement, with new lighting elements at both ends. The enhancements look be just as aerodynamic at first glance, if not more so as those of the present car. Hyundai says the Ioniq 6 N itself will be getting a prominent rear wing that's clearly depicted in the images, along with more aggressive fender work and other performance-based enhancements including a set of special, lighter wheels. It will no doubt be lower and wider than the base Ioniq 6 models as well. Given it's a sedan, we expect the 6 N to be more stable at higher speeds than its higher-riding 5 N SUV cousin, and indeed Hyundai is saying just that in its press release teasing the car. It's all part of what N has been pushing as its three core performance pillars: corner rascal (corny, but we like corner-y), racetrack capability (if the 5 N is any indication, this will be a given), and everyday sports car livability (the 5 N is indeed an SUV you can also drive in a civilized, non-punishing way). We'll be getting behind the wheel of a prototype version of the 2026 Ioniq 6 N very soon, so it won't be long before we find out what N has wrought for its second N EV. If the Ioniq 5 N is any indication, it should be another dynamite electrified dynamo.

Watch Out For Driverless Tesla EVs On The Streets Of Austin
Watch Out For Driverless Tesla EVs On The Streets Of Austin originally appeared on Autoblog. Tesla cancelled (or at least shelved) plans for an affordable EV to slot in below the Model 3 in price so that it could focus on launching its autonomous robotaxi service, something company CEO Elon Musk said would happen in June. Indeed, Bloomberg recently reported that Tesla would aim to launch its self-driving taxis on June 12 in Austin, Texas. History has taught us to take Musk's promises (and unconfirmed rumors) about self-imposed timelines with a large grain of salt, but as noted in a video spotted by CarScoops, Tesla may actually be on track for the ambitious launch. Therein, what a new Model Y makes a left turn as pedestrians are about to cross the intersection, and the car stops, allowing us to see that the driver's seat is unoccupied. The video shared on X (formerly Twitter) is embedded below and shows a dark-colored Model Y that seems to be perfectly in control of self-navigation, while another, white Model Y without a 'Robotaxi' decal is following close behind. The quality, angle, and lighting of the video make it difficult to see inside this second Model Y, but it's safe to assume that a Tesla employee is driving this to monitor anything unusual from the self-driving prototype. In addition, Tesla has confirmed that humans will be remotely supervising all unmanned autonomous vehicles in its robotaxi fleet, thereby adding a failsafe that should keep Tesla from being embroiled in another scandal. Things seem to be on track on the regulatory side, too. Teslarati reports that Tesla has been approved as an official operator of autonomous vehicles in the state of Texas, which shows on the state's website as of Monday. That said, the site notes that Tesla is still in the testing phase, as are most other autonomous vehicle operators in Austin. Waymo is listed as still in the development phase, though it already launched driverless ride-hailing services in the city in partnership with Uber. Meanwhile, Hyundai-owned Motional is said to be in the mapping phase. Amazon's Zoox is also preparing to launch soon. On X, Musk indicated that the robotaxi launch may not be an invitation-only event, which supports the belief that Tesla is on schedule. We'll see tomorrow if Bloomberg's date was correct. If not, we'll be back soon to explain what happened.
