AEW star Dustin Rhodes has made it clear that his iconic "Goldust" character is permanently retired. He also stated that he has no desire for another match against his brother, WWE's Cody Rhodes.
Rhodes delivered the news to fans on social media. He responded to suggestions about bringing back the "Bizarre One" and stepping in the ring with his brother one more time.
'Goldust Is Retired'
A fan on the social media platform X suggested a unique faction idea. The fan proposed a team-up of Goldust, Cody Rhodes' old "Stardust" character, and AAA star Mr. Iguana.
Dustin Rhodes politely but firmly shut down the idea. He noted he is happy with his current position in AEW.
"Goldust is retired. Sorry. Happy where I am at," Rhodes responded.
Dustin famously shed the Goldust persona for his emotional debut match in AEW against Cody in 2019. He currently holds the ROH World Tag Team Championship with his "Sons of Texas" partner, Sammy Guevara.

No More Matches With Cody Rhodes
Dustin also addressed calls for a third match against his brother. He has recently expressed great pride in Cody's success since his return to WWE.
When a fan suggested their story wasn't over until they had another match, Dustin disagreed. He explained that their classic 2019 encounter should not be revisited.
He stated that he has no interest in having another match because he doesn't want to "touch something so magical."
The Legacy Of Rhodes Vs. Rhodes
The match Dustin refers to is his bloody and emotional battle with Cody at the inaugural AEW Double or Nothing event in 2019. The match was critically acclaimed and is considered by many to be one of the best in AEW history.
That performance helped establish the tone for the new promotion. It also served as a major career-defining moment for Dustin outside of the Goldust character.

The Goldust character is one of WWE's most enduring and versatile gimmicks. Debuting in 1995, the provocative and androgynous "Bizarre One" used psychological mind games and unsettling mannerisms to get under the skin of his opponents and the audience, pushing creative boundaries during the Attitude Era.
Over several decades, the character evolved dramatically. He became the comedic "Artist Formerly Known as Goldust" and later formed a beloved, fan-favorite tag team with Booker T. This ability to transform from a controversial, boundary-pushing heel to a comedic babyface cemented Goldust as a truly unique and legendary gimmick.

Ex-Eagle Jason Kelce Delivers Hype Promo for Taylor Swift
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Jason Kelce's still got it. The ex-NFL center, who went viral for screaming at critics of the Philadelphia Eagles during a post-parade speech after the Super Bowl LII victory, put together another viral-worthy promo this week. As Kelce co-hosts the 'New Heights' podcast with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, the two welcomed Taylor Swift onto the show for the first time. Although Swift needs no introduction these days, she still got one, as Jason Kelce cut another WWE-Esque promo ahead of her 'New Heights' debut. "Our guest today is a singer, songwriter, producer, and director from Nashville, Tennessee—that's [expletive] she's from Reading, Pennsylvania—she is the most awarded artist in the history of the American Music Awards, Billboard Musical Awards, and iHeart Radio Music Awards," Kelce started. "She has 14 Grammy Awards and is the only artist in history to win album of the year four times! Last year, she wrapped up The Eras Tour, which spanned 149 shows across 51 cities, five continents, and was the most attended tour of all time! I'm still going, hold up! Her last album, The Tortured Poets Department, set a record with 1.76 billion streams globally within the first week alone! ... 92 percenters! Are you ready for it?! Making her podcasting debut, the most requested guest in the history of shows, Taylor Swift!" Oh man, that was mouthful! — Jason Kelce (@JasonKelce) August 13, 2025 Admittedly exhausted and cramping after going on his rant, Kelce received thanks from Swift, who clearly got a kick out of the introduction. "That was so good! Thank you! Thank you for screaming for like 47 seconds for me, that was so nice," Swift responded. Wednesday will mark the first time Swift joins the 'New Heights' show, which debuted in 2022. At the time, both Kelce brothers were active NFL players. Jason Kelce was reaching the end of his career with the Eagles, while Travis Kelce was at the height of his career with the Chiefs. ESPN analyst Jason Kelce looks on prior to the game between the Atlanta Falcons and Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field on September 16, 2024 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. John Cena vs Brock Lesnar to headline unnamed Indianapolis WWE PLE in September: Reports
WWE is reportedly returning to Indianapolis for another Premium Live Event less than eight months after the Royal Rumble came to the Circle City. And the main event is apparently a big one. According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, John Cena will headline the show with Brock Lesnar. "It can change, but the main event for this show is Brock Lesnar and John Cena," Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio. "So it's a big one. Which is why Brock's not in Paris, is because of this. They wanted him for this show, not for the Paris show. And that's where Logan Paul got the gig." Lesnar returned to WWE on the second night of Summerslam in August to attack Cena. Cena was the runner-up at the Royal Rumble match in Indy after being eliminated by Jey Uso. WWE has yet to announce the September show in Indianapolis or what the name will be. In 2024, a multi-year deal between Indiana Sports Corp and WWE was announced. It included the 2025 Royal Rumble and a future Wrestlemania and Summerslam at Lucas Oil Stadium. The deal also ensured Gainbridge Fieldhouse as the host of yearly Monday Night Raw and Friday Night SmackDown tapings, as well as other select events and WWE NXT shows.
