Court records indicate that the two years will be served after Ross finishes a sentence of three to four-and-half years in jail in Greene County.

They shared photos showing heavy damage to a blue pickup truck and a black car.
Fire officials also shared that there were multiple people trapped in their vehicles.

Atlanta PD chief reacts, judge defends YSL trial sentence as final defendant pleads guilty

Atlanta's police chief criticized the judge's ruling for Young Slime Life criminal street gang member Christian Eppinger. 'The sentence that we saw, it looks great on paper, but there is zero accountability in there. There is zero punishment,' Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum told Channel 2 Investigative Reporter Mark Winne. Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis indicated the issue is that Eppinger's sentence of 40 years in prison plus 35 years of probation is to run at the same time as the 45-year sentence handed down previously by another judge in a probation revocation. Fulton County Superior Court Judge Paige Reese Whitaker defended the sentence as appropriate. Eppinger was the last remaining defendant in the YSL gang racketeering case. Among his charges was attempted murder in the shooting of Atlanta officer David Rodgers in February 2022. Rodgers was attempting to arrest Eppinger for armed robbery. The officer was shot six times but survived. 'He's angry,' Schierbaum said of Rodgers. 'I think he is surprised what happened in the courtroom of Fulton County, that this is the sentence given to someone that tried to take his life.' [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] Whitaker told Winne by phone that her sentencing of Eppinger is by far the lengthiest sentence she has handed out in the massive YSL gang racketeering case. She also added that 'the safety of the community is a consideration in any sentence' she hands down, and this one will keep him behind bars for 40 years, a stiff sentence for a 25-year-old with one prior felony conviction. In crafting Eppinger's sentence in the YSL case, Whitaker said she considered that the lengthy probation revocation he was already serving was essentially already a punishment for the same crimes for which she sentenced him Monday. Fairness attorney Noah Pines said, 'There's no question that Judge Whitaker is tough on crime. She is a very fair judge, but she's a very tough judge when it comes to sentencing. There's not question about that.' Hylton said she played dashcam and bodycam video from Eppinger's shooting of Rodgers in the hearing Monday. Eppinger entered a non-negotiated guilty plea to attempted murder, RICO conspiracy and more as what's called an Alford plea, meaning he decided pleading guilty was in his best interest but he doesn't admit to the crimes. Sheriffs' Assoc. sues Judge Hatchett after sheriff's guilty plea for groping her

A Channel 2 exclusive in the sexual assault case filed by a prominent television judge against a Georgia sheriff. Judge Glenda Hatchett is being sued for damages by the Georgia Sheriffs' Association, after the Bleckley County Sheriff pleaded guilty to sexual battery in her case. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] The judge did not rule on the case Wednesday. Hatchett sued former Sheriff Kris Coody after she says he groped her in 2022 at a Georgia Sheriffs' Association event in a bar at a Cobb County hotel. 'He grabbed my breast,' she told Channel 2's Karyn Greer in a 2023 interview. 'Grabbed my breast, was squeezing on my breast and rubbing my breast.' Coody pleaded guilty to sexual battery, admitting he groped her breast at the event. The former sheriff resigned, received 12 months probation, 40 hours of community service and a $500 fine. He was also ordered to take an alcohol and drug abuse course. Hatchett filed suit against the former sheriff and the Sheriffs' Association for legal fees and damages, asking for a jury trial. But she dropped that suit in May 2024 after it was moved to Morgan County. In a turn of events, the Sheriffs' Association, which represents sheriffs across the state, has now filed a civil suit against Hatchett. It claimed it was a frivolous lawsuit, demanding she pay the group's legal fees and damages. Greer reached out to the Georgia Sheriffs' Association and left a message for a comment. She also reached out to the Gwinnett County Sheriff Keybo Taylor, who is a member of the association. 'The incident was inappropriate and should have never happened … and that's not how sheriffs anywhere should act,' Taylor said. 'It's below the standards of sheriffs. I don't feel her lawsuit was frivolous.' [SIGN UP: WSB-TV Daily Headlines Newsletter]

Man killed in shooting near Southside restaurant Copeland's Wednesday afternoon: JSO

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is investigating after a man was shot and killed on the Southside Wednesday afternoon. When Action News Jax arrived at the scene outside of Copeland's restaurant Wednesday afternoon, there were more than ten JSO vehicles on scene, with the entire perimeter blocked off. [DOWNLOAD: Free Action News Jax app for alerts as news breaks] JSO said it responded to the scene around 2 P.M., where officers found a man in his late 30s with one gunshot wound to the chest. Employees from a coffee shop next door told Action News Jax that they heard multiple gunshots while in the parking lot just before police arrived. The man was reportedly taken to a nearby hospital by fire rescue, but did not survive. JSO said Wednesday evening that its investigation revealed the man was there for a meeting of some kind. Three people of interest were detained for interviews, but it's unclear if any of them were the shooter. JSO said it was still looking for one vehicle of interest, a black four-door car that may be a Nissan. The car left the parking lot and drove southbound on Southside Boulevard. Anyone with information on the shooting or suspects involved is asked to reach out to JSO or Crime Stoppers. >>> STREAM ACTION NEWS JAX LIVE <<< [SIGN UP: Action News Jax Daily Headlines Newsletter]
