2 people hurt, 13 displaced after apartment fire in Vandalia

A fire broke out at a Vandalia apartment complex overnight, displacing over a dozen people. When crews got to the scene, there was heavy fire coming from a second-story window, according to the Vandalia Division of Fire. In a social media post, the department said one female occupant jumped from the second-story window as police and bystanders were trying to rescue her. One person was transported from the scene to an area hospital in serious condition, and another was treated for injuries at the scene. In total, 13 people were displaced by the fire. A 24-year-old man has been sentenced after pleading guilty to driving impaired in a 2023 Vandalia crash. This comes after he pleaded guilty to one count of vehicular assault and another count of OVI back in December. Court records indicate that the two years will be served after Ross finishes a sentence of three to four-and-half years in jail in Greene County. Brown School Road on reports of a crash. Dispatch records showed four vehicles were involved, but the Vandalia Division of Fire shared on social media back in 2023 that three vehicles were involved. They shared photos showing heavy damage to a blue pickup truck and a black car. Another person was treated at the scene for minor injuries. Online jail records show that Ross is incarcerated in the Noble Correctional Institution for a drug-related conviction in Greene County.
