Yankees Named 'Dream Landing Spot' for Guardians Superstar Jose Ramirez Trade
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources.
The New York Yankees are in the midst of a surprising slump after performing as one of the best offensive teams in all of baseball this year.
After another defeat at the hands of the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday, the Yankees have suffered three-straight shutout losses for the first time since 2016. Now the team is left to search for answers at the plate from stars like Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton, but with the trade deadline looming just a few weeks away, an external candidate could come into play as well.
Offensively, the Yankees seem most likely to look for a right-handed bat to add to their offensive, particularly one who can bring a boost to their infield.
"The Yankees are aggressively searching for a right-handed bat, preferably a third baseman, while also looking for another starter," Bob Nightengale wrote for USA Today.

That will probably mean the addition of some kind of peripheral option, given that the Yankees face a significant luxury tax burden on their payroll and already have one of the best batting orders in the sport, outside of the last week.
But in the wake of the Boston Red Sox's shocking Rafael Devers trade, Bleacher Report's Zachary Rymer listed the Yankees as the "dream landing spot" for Cleveland Guardians' third baseman Jose Ramirez.
"Ramirez, 32, is another guy with full no-trade protection, and thus another guy who will go anywhere only if he wants to," Rymer noted in the article. "That said, the Yankees' contention outlook is a heck of a lot better than Cleveland's, and that is even with a hole on their infield. He would fill that by playing third and bumping Jazz Chisholm Jr. back to second base, though he'd also partner with Aaron Judge to again give the Yankees the best duo in the American League."
Ramirez has been one of the best players in baseball in recent seasons, earning four consecutive All-Star nods for the Guardians, and there's no real indication he could be available in a trade. But the Guardians do sit just above .500 and nearly 10 games back from the Detroit Tigers in the American League Central division, suggesting there's a possibility they become sellers by the deadline.
That being said, this trade idea seems destined to remain in "dream" territory, no matter how much the Yankees might like to see it become a reality.

Celtics rival listed in preferred Kevin Durant trade destinations (report)
The Kevin Durant trade sweepstakes are starting to get momentum ahead of the 2025 NBA Draft as three teams are at the top of his list. Per ESPN's Shams Charania, the Heat, Spurs and Rockets are Durant's preferred trade destinations. Charania reports that Durant would sign long-term extensions with each of those franchises. Durant, 36, is on an expiring $54.7 million deal. So teams looking to trade for the All-Star could be looking to keep him beyond just the 2025-26 season. Durant averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists last season in 62 games, so even though he's getting older, it's clear he can still impact the game at a high level. Advertisement Charania originally reported several teams were hoping to trade for one of the best scorers of all-time. He also reported that the Suns "have made clear to six-to-eight seriously interested teams that they will make the best deal for the franchise." So, Durant could still end up on a separate team outside of his preferred list. The Heat could make a big swing if they landed Durant, though it could get costly. Miami was mediocre last season, finishing 37-45 after trading Jimmy Butler midseason. While they showed some life to earn the No. 8 seed in the playoffs by getting through the play-in tournament, all they got was a sweep at the hands of the No. 1-seeded Cavaliers in the first round. While there have been other trade rumors, where Durant ends up is the big early question mark of the offseason. He's still shown to be a game-changing player, so contending teams could view him as a potential last piece. More Celtics content Read the original article on MassLive.

How the Jaire Alexander signing impacts Ravens young cornerbacks
How the Jaire Alexander signing impacts Ravens young cornerbacks With the Jaire Alexander signing official, we're looking at how the move impacts the Ravens' young secondary, including the cornerback position. One day after Lamar Jackson made a public plea to the national and local media, the Baltimore Ravens listened, signing former Green Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander. The addition of Alexander gives Baltimore one of the most talented secondaries in the NFL and reunites the two-time Pro Bowler with Jackson, a close friend and former teammate at Louisville. It also adds elite depth and talent to a Ravens secondary that had been retooled this offseason with the addition of Chidobe Awuzie in free agency and two sixth-round draft picks. Alexander, 28, played in just 34 of a possible 68 games since the start of the 2021 season and was scheduled to make $17.5 million this season, with none guaranteed. The Packers released the All-Pro cornerback on June 9 following two straight injury-filled seasons. With the signing official, we're looking at how the move impacts the Ravens' young secondary, including the cornerback position. Cornerback depth If Alexander can remain healthy, Baltimore will have one of the strongest defensive backfields in the league. Alexander joins a secondary that has first-round picks at cornerback (Marlon Humphrey and Nate Wiggins) and safety (Kyle Hamilton and Malaki Starks). The Ravens will likely line up Alexander and Wiggins on the outside and use Humphrey as the slot cornerback. They now have a top 4 of Marlon Humphrey, Nate Wiggins, Jaire Alexander, and Chidobe Awuzie. Rookies impact Long before Alexander was released, Baltimore made it clear that they'd be selecting a cornerback in April's draft. The Ravens selected Bilhal Kone (Western Michigan) in Round 6, pick No. 178, and Robert Longerbeam (Rutgers) in Round 6, pick No. 212. Before the Alexander signing, the No. 4 cornerback spot was up in the air between T.J. Tampa, Jalyn Armour-Davis, and now Kone, who primarily plays on the outside but has spent some time in the slot. Last season, Kone led Western Michigan with nine passes broken up. He added 70 tackles and one interception. Longerbeam has ball skills, leading the Big Ten with 30 passes broken up since 2021. He won't be as impacted, as the former Scarlet Knights star was projected to play slot cornerback because he's 5 feet 11, 174 pounds. Longerbeam is only the second player from Rutgers to get drafted by the Ravens, joining running back Ray Rice (second round in 2008). Others impacted T.J. Tampa quickly becomes a player in need of a breakout training camp, or he'll risk landing on the practice squad or being released before the final cuts. Armour-Davis has been getting snaps at safety this spring, and he'll need a breakout performance to remain on the roster.

Phillies 'Want to See' Kyle Schwarber Test Market Without Extension, per Insider
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. The Philadelphia Phillies have managed to stay afloat even without franchise star Bryce Harper in the lineup. Since Harper was placed on the injured list, the Phillies have managed a 6-4 record as their starting rotation shines and their other hitters make due. Alec Bohm and Trea Turner have been particularly good in Harper's absence, but the injury has also been a reminder of just how important Kyle Schwarber is to the offense. Schwarber has been a big reason for the team's success so far this season as he's logged the second-most home runs in the National League, behind only Shohei Ohtani. But this could be the final year the Phillies can count on Schwarber because he has the chance to become a free agent at the end of the season. Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reported that the two sides had begun talks about a contract extension, but those have apparently failed to advance. Now, Rosenthal's colleague Matt Gelb has indicated that the team is holding off on an extension in hopes that it can get a better sense of Schwarber's value on the free market. (Photo by) More Howard/Getty "I do not believe anything has changed since spring training," Gelb wrote. "From Schwarber's perspective, he wants to bet on himself this close to reaching free agency. Fair. And, from the Phillies' perspective, they want to see how many clubs are interested in a DH who will be 33 next season. As good as Schwarber is — on and off the field — it's a profile that hasn't generated a ton of demand in recent years." The Phillies could avoid a higher price for retaining Schwarber by locking him into a below-market extension before he ever tests the market. But Gelb believes they will bet on the hunch that his next contract's ceiling won't be too high. "My feeling is the Phillies will let the market for Schwarber develop, then match it," he predicted. Gelb added that several of the other big market teams, like the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees, already have designated hitters. That could give the Phillies some confidence that they can let their star hit free agency and bring him back on a reasonable contract when the time comes.
