CAST ANNOUNCED For The New Zealand Premiere Of The West End Hit Peppa Pig's Fun Day Out LIVE!
Press Release – Blackout Music Management
An all-Australian cast has been confirmed for Peppa Pig's Fun Day Out LIVE! with Zoe Crisp (Avenue Q, We Will Rock You) cast as Peppa Pig in the upcoming tour this June/July school holidays.
The New Zealand premiere follows a smash hit season in London's West End, and is the first time Peppa Pig has graced New Zealand stages since 2018.
The rest of the multi-talented, infectiously fun cast includes Romy Juliette Glass (Legally Blonde; Universal Studios Singapore roles) as Daisy; Maddison Price (Queensland Pop Orchestra, QPAC's The Wizard of Oz in Concert) as Suzy Sheep; Jake Waterworth (Tigger in Disney's Winnie the Pooh: The New Musical Adaptation) as Danny Dog.
Joining them are Zuleika Khan (PAW Patrol Live, Offspring, Please Like Me) as Mummy Pig and Miss Rabbit; Jacqui Dwyer (Disney's Winnie the Pooh: The New Musical Adaptation) as George; with Daddy Pig played by Benjamin Richards (Heathers, Cry Baby).
Titular star Zoe Crisp remembers growing up watching the Peppa Pig TV show with her twin brother: 'My brother and I related very much to Peppa and George's sibling relationship. I was a tiny bit bossy and he didn't have a lot of words,' says Zoe.
A WAAPA graduate with a range of professional credits, Zoe recently toured with the National Theatre for Children, playing various characters with lots of silly voices (an evil cat, a dopey dog and plenty more!). In her free time, Zoe passionately supports causes to conserve our wildlife for future generations.
'Peppa Pig has captured hearts for so many years. The characters are so loved and iconic – I can't wait to bring the magic that is Peppa Pig to life on stage!' says Zoe.
New Zealand audiences are proving just how much they really adore Peppa Pig and her oinktastic adventures, with the tour adding extra shows for Auckland since the first extension was announced in March before Peppa Pig and Friends hit Wellington, Christchurch and finally, Hamilton.
Presented by TEG Life Like Touring and Fierylight, the stage show is based on the much-loved animated series. Peppa Pig is currently the #1 kids show on Nick Jr. and #2 on ABC Kids Australia, while the show's theme song received a whopping 165 million views in just six months of 2024.
Packed with fun, games and special new puppets, this new live show will see small audience members squealing with delight.

Halfway Release Matches, The 2nd Single From Their New Album The Styx
Halfway have been a band for quarter of a century, and across that time they've made eight studio albums, each of which has received a wealth of critical acclaim. From their origins in 2000, Halfway have developed their style and songs into cinematic soundscapes, lush with pedal steel, densely layered guitars, and driving rhythms. Halfway's new album, The Styx, features the return to the fold of band co-founder Chris Dale after a six-year absence, and contributions from guests including Chris Abrahams (The Necks, Midnight Oil) and Adele Pickvance (The Go-Betweens). ' The Palace ' was the first taste of the new album and now they reveal the second single ' Matches ', written by John Busby and bassist Ben Johnson. The song creaks and shimmers to life courtesy of its gently sparkling guitars and atmospheric keys. Drums enter the fray as the music swells and expands into an evocative sound akin to the best of Mercury Rev, where musical dreams and memories coexist. " The coals of a fire are neither flame nor ash. 'Matches' sits in the space between ignition and extinction, rooted in uncertainty," says Johnson. " The stories of The Styx inhabit that uncertain ground where nothing is fully on or off, alive or gone. What begins as fire ends as cinders and lingers softly afterward." A concept album of sorts, The Styx is situated in a remote Australian coastal town during the Christmas of 1986 and explores themes of family, isolation, love, and betrayal. " Growing up, my family would spend time at Stanage Bay in Central Queensland, which is a small fishing village situated to the southeast of the Styx River. It was a remote and beautiful place," reflects Busby. He didn't know anything about Greek mythology but saw the beauty and the danger there just the same. On fishing trips with his father and a cast of characters who might have walked out of the pages of a John Steinbeck story, he must have heard a hundred times: 'People drown in here.' Seeds were planted. ' The whole Stanage Bay / Styx River area, and the people there, are a big part of this record. When some of the band and our friends started to inform the songs, I knew I had to set it at the bay,' says Busby. ' It's a place full of beauty and mystery. I had been wanting to base a story there for a long time.' There is nothing mythic about these stories of love, lust, longing, and leaving, which feel as real as an errant fishhook deep into flesh. Brothers George and Lennie are the kind of hard-bitten characters who might be found in stories by Steinbeck or Richard Flanagan, battling the elements and themselves and always with an eye out for the fishing inspectors. Just before daylight, Lennie goes to check the nets. He doesn't return. The recording of the album took on a different form for the band, who recorded themselves in Brisbane before Mark Nevers (Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, Lambchop, Calexico, George Jones) shaped the mix of the songs at his South Carolina studio, with Busby alongside him. ' We usually just record live in a room, but this one started quietly. Just my guitar and vocals, layering it track by track, and then recording the drums last. A weird back-to-front album, but it gave us the chance to put the story / songs first rather than concentrate on how the songs would work live.' The sound the band has concocted is one of sweeping beauty and sonic grace, both heartfelt and tragic. Guitar strings and keys wash across the speakers, like the ocean breeze and the river tide. Drawing on the influence of bands such as The Triffids and Phosphorescent, Halfway seamlessly blend alt-country and indie rock sensibilities, providing the songs with a hypnotic and compelling backdrop to these poetic tales from the Australian coastline. As in their songs, as in life. Love lost and found, the pain and the hope, the past and the landscape ever-present. Great songwriting often finds a way to make the deeply personal feel universal. Few bands navigate that path as surely as Halfway across their nine timeless albums.

Courtnay & The Unholy Reverie Drop New Contemporary-Country-Pop Single ‘1988'
Press Release – Blackout Music Management Blending shimmering acoustic textures with rich harmonies, melodic hooks, and a warm sing-a-long chorus, '1988' is infused with a wistful, sentimental vibe. Steeped in 90's nostalgia in its drum and guitar tones, the chord phrases and even an omnichord, this track is a true labour of love that showcases the band's softer sonic palette. The poppy, light-hearted vibe of the song disguises its darker lyrical content, and reveals the more reflective side of the bands' strong musical synergy. '1988' marks the first release in a series of singles that will roll out over the coming months, building toward a full-length album later this year. A sensitive, contemplative track, '1988' is a highly relatable and empathetic reflection on the journey to finding oneself. Written as a tender love letter to lead singer-songwriter Courtnay Low's childhood self, '1988' is an evocative tune about her deeply personal struggle to identify and hold space for herself through the lens of a broken family unit. Recorded at Oakura's Rhythm Ace Studio with acclaimed producer Sam Johnson, and mastered by Chris Chetland at Auckland's Kog Studios, '1988' features the masterful talents of Courtnay Low on lead vocals, acoustic and electric guitar; Chad Williams on drums, acoustic guitar and backing vocals; Keith Parker on bass and backing vocals; and introducing Riley Smith on lead guitar; and Liana Hart on backing vocals. Low consistently expresses her artistry with lyrics that delve into stories of heartache, resilience, and the vast continuum of raw emotions that define the human experience, and once again she demonstrates her song-writing prowess and remarkable voice as she sings: '…Where do we go, when the night comes And takes away our hope? Who do we tell, that it cuts the mould All those secrets that you hold…' About the song, Low says: 'In essence, it's a love letter to my childhood self. I had to grow up quite fast in my family unit and I think I carried a whole lot of weight that a child shouldn't have to carry. The song is a bit of a juxtaposition though, as the lyrics are pretty dark and heavy but the overall tone of it is quite poppy and happy. That's life though right? The good and the bad!' Esteemed journalist and music writer Graham Reid had this to say about the inimitable Courtnay Low in his fantastic Elsewhere review of the bands' fiery 2024 debut EP MERCY: '…her range and delivery puts her among the best singers we have…[Mercy is]…consistently impressive, not just for her singing and playing but her lyrical ability.' Courtnay & The Unholy Reverie are without a doubt, the real deal. At their core, the band remain immersed in the mystique of alt-country swamp-blues vibes, a hypnotic and magic blend of that will leave music aficionados hungry for more and eager to witness the rise of this exceptionally talented band. With '1988', they reveal another aspect to their versatility and musical depth. Stay tuned and listen out as there's much more to come from one of our most sensational rising local talents.
