Two products sold at Walmart have been recalled, with customers being urged to dispose of the items.
Guidance on the product recall page on Walmart's website reads: "Walmart and Sam's Club are committed to the health and safety of our customers and members and to providing products that are safe and compliant, all supported by our health and wellness, product safety, and food safety professionals."
"In the event of a product recall, we work swiftly to block the item from being sold and remove it from our stores and clubs."
Newsweek reached out to Walmart via an online contact form for comment.
Why It Matters
Using recalled products or consuming recalled food items can pose serious health risks. Recalls can be initiated for myriad reasons, including undeclared allergens or potential contaminants.
MaxKare Electric Blankets
The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced a recall of approximately 8,560 MaxKare Electric Blankets, sold exclusively online at Walmart.com, between June 2021 and November 2024, for $27 to $80.
The recall targeted models HB18A-7284-1, HB18A-8490-2, and HB18A-6284-1, which were available in three sizes (twin, full, queen) and two colors (brown and gray).
Yumo, which manufactures the blankets, received 34 reports of the blankets overheating, including two reports of blankets catching fire and three reports of burn injuries.
The affected blankets featured six heating levels and a nine-hour auto-off function. Shenzhen Yumo Commerce and Trade Corporation manufactured the blankets in China.
Consumers should immediately stop using the product and are advised to contact Yumo for instructions on how to dispose of it.
Newsweek reached out to Yumo via email for comment.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) issued a recall for FreshRealm's Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo products and is investigating an outbreak of Listeria connected to the recall.
In response to a request for comment, Fresh Realm directed Newsweek to a press release that read in part: "Out of an abundance of caution, FreshRealm is recalling the product while the investigation proceeds. The investigation will focus on how Listeria may have entered the product, and whether it entered from a FreshRealm facility, or through any of the ingredients that FreshRealm received from external ingredient suppliers."
"FreshRealm remains committed to the highest standards of food safety and is working closely with the Food and Drug Administration, the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to provide full transparency and access throughout the process."
The recall affected three different ready-to-eat products:
MARKETSIDE GRILLED CHICKEN ALFREDO WITH FETTUCCINE Tender Pasta with Creamy Alfredo Sauce, White Meat Chicken and Shaved Parmesan Cheese
Details: 32.8oz, best-by—date of 6.27.25, EST. P-50784

Consumers who purchased the product are advised to destroy it or return it to the place of purchase for a refund.
The FSIS said in their recall notice that they are "investigating an outbreak of Lm that currently includes 17 ill people in 13 states. As of June 17, 2025, there have been three reported deaths and one fetal loss associated with this outbreak.
"The outbreak strain of Lm was isolated from ill people on dates ranging from August 2024 – May 2025. The same outbreak strain was isolated from a routine chicken fettuccine alfredo sample collected by FSIS in a FreshRealm establishment in March 2025. The lot of chicken fettuccine alfredo represented by this sample was held during sampling, destroyed, and never entered commerce."
What People Are Saying
The FSIS, on its website: "Listeriosis can cause fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance and convulsions sometimes preceded by diarrhea or other gastrointestinal symptoms. An invasive infection spreads beyond the gastrointestinal tract.
"In pregnant women, the infection can cause miscarriages, stillbirths, premature delivery or life-threatening infection of the newborn. In addition, serious and sometimes fatal infections in older adults and people with weakened immune systems. Listeriosis is treated with antibiotics."
What Happens Next
Both recalls are ongoing.

Walmart (WMT) Shares Near All-Time High Ahead of Earnings

Walmart headlines what is undoubtedly a critical week for retail earnings. The largest retailer in the world based on corporate revenues, Walmart is set to report its fiscal second-quarter earnings results on Thursday before the opening bell. Wall Street remains bullish on the company's bottom line. Analysts are expecting Walmart to deliver quarterly earnings of 73 cents per share, marking an 8.96% jump relative to the same quarter in the prior year. Leading into the announcement, analysts' estimates have increased 1.39% in the past 7 days. Image Source: Zacks Investment Research Walmart has either met or exceeded estimates in twelve consecutive quarters. The leading retailer delivered a trailing four-quarter average earnings surprise of 5.27%. Our proprietary Zacks Earnings ESP (Expected Surprise Prediction) indicator sits at +1.26% for the upcoming announcement; this means that our proven model conclusively predicts another earnings beat for Walmart. The combination of a positive Earnings ESP and a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy), #2 (Buy) or #3 (Hold) increases the odds of an earnings beat. Walmart stock remains a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy) at the moment. The Zacks Consensus Estimate for Q2 revenues is pegged at $175.51 billion, which would mark a 3.65% improvement versus the year-ago period. Walmart hasn't missed on the top line since 2020. Walmart shares are slightly outperforming the market this year, currently up around 13%. However, the stock has been lagging off the April lows. With Wall Street maintaining a bullish outlook, a positive earnings surprise could drive the stock higher. Image Source: StockCharts Walmart Set to Deliver Steady Revenue Growth in Q2 The Bentonville-based retailer is expected to show solid growth despite tariff-related headwinds. Management anticipates net sales to rise between 3.5% and 4.5%, building on momentum from its core U.S. business and expanding global operations. In terms of same-store sales, the expectation for U.S. comps (ex-fuel) is 4.17%, which will compare to a 4.8% gain in the preceding quarter and a 4.3% gain in the year-earlier period. We expect Walmart to continue to post impressive comparable sales growth, supported by its ongoing expansion initiatives and strong e-commerce performance. Walmart benefits from the inherent strength of its highly diversified business model. Its value pricing strategy has boosted market share in the grocery business and is likely to have resulted in higher shopping frequency and stronger unit volumes in the second quarter. Walmart's core business is thriving in regard to grocery and essential home items, which make up roughly 60% of its sales. Along the same lines, Walmart's e-commerce platform – driven by store-fulfilled pickup, rapid delivery, and robust advertising growth – is likely to remain a vital driver of the company's sales momentum. In the first quarter, Walmart's Global e-commerce sales rose 22% as the digital mix increased across all segments, while U.S. e-commerce sales rose 21%. The retailer emphasized that its omni-channel strategy continues to gain relevance in today's dynamic retail environment. Membership fee income is also climbing across the company. In the first quarter, Walmart's membership fee income rose 14.8%, driven by double-digit growth in Walmart+ subscriptions and strong renewals at Sam's Club amid a rapid international expansion. We expect the strong membership fee growth resumed in the second quarter, boosting sales and reinforcing Walmart's membership-driven strategy. Tariff Woes to Remain in Focus Despite a strong start to the year, Walmart WMT expects potential hurdles in the coming quarters. The company withheld its fiscal second-quarter earnings outlook, citing uncertainty related to tariffs and a highly fluid economic environment. These tariff costs are expected to push prices higher in the near-term. However, Walmart noted earlier in the year that roughly two-thirds of U.S. sales were from domestically-sourced products, which provides the company with a degree of insulation relative to competitors. We anticipate that second-quarter results likely benefited from pulled-forward demand, particularly in specific categories like electronics. Still, Walmart faces mounting headwinds that could impact its near-term financial performance. The company acknowledged that it is not fully immune to the short-term effects of ongoing tariffs. While Walmart believes it is well-positioned to manage these challenges better than its peers, elevated tariffs remain a notable risk. Macroeconomic concerns and currency fluctuations also pose potential challenges to profitability. Final Thoughts Digital and brick-and-mortar operators have been converging for some time now, with Walmart a growing online vendor. The leading retailer is steadily becoming a heavy advertising player thanks to its beaming digital business. Market participants will be looking to Walmart for clues regarding how consumers and retailers are responding to President Trump's tariffs. After a slump in consumer spending this spring, retail sales ticked up 0.9% in June and 0.5% in July. It will be interesting to see if the stock can regain its momentum after the company delivers its quarterly results. Want the latest recommendations from Zacks Investment Research? Walmart is due to report earnings on Thursday. Here's what analysts say to expect

Walmart is slated to report second-quarter earnings before the opening bell on Thursday, and several analysts are optimistic about the retailer heading into the print, even after the stock's outperformance since the start of the year. Analysts surveyed by LSEG expect Walmart to earnings per share to rise by more than 10% compared to the same period a year ago. Revenue is estimated to expand by 4% versus last year. Analysts will watch for any insights into how President Donald Trump's tariffs have affected the country's largest retailer in the past three months. Walmart Chief Financial Officer John David Rainey in May said that higher duties could lead the company to start raising prices . The Bentonville, Arkansas-based chain also declined to give second-quarter EPS or operating income growth guidance, citing shifting tariff policy. Since then, Walmart has moved to increase prices on certain items , such as baby gear and home goods. "Perhaps more important for Walmart and the broader retail space will be commentary on its relative price strategy (which we think has been aggressive), along with early consumer responses to price changes (likely modest elasticity but expectations to worsen)," Barclays analyst Seth Sigman wrote this week. Sigman (overweight, $108 price target) also said he "would not be surprised" if Wal-Mart's outlook stays the same, even against what he expects will amount to a "strong" second quarter. "While there is potential upside to FY guidance based on 1H, there is a case to not raise guidance right now," he wrote. "Actual tariffs are still fluid given delays, and it's very early in price increases across the retail space." In 2025, Walmart has outperformed the S & P 500 , rising more than 12% through Tuesday's close, against the index's 9% gain. Sigman's view is also consensus on Wall Street. Of the 43 analysts covering Walmart, all but one rate it buy or strong buy, according to LSEG. Here's what some had to say before Thursday's results: TD Cowen: buy rating and $115 price target Analyst Oliver Chen's target implies more than 14% upside from Tuesday's close of $100.69. "The investor bar is set for a continuation of 1Q's momentum with 2Q U.S. comps of at least +4% vs. 4.5% in 1Q. WMT previously communicated an expectation for a temporary retail inventory accounting lift (related to tariffs) to 2Q gross margins and a corresponding reversal in 3Q. The investor bar for 2Q gross margin is at least +15-20bps Y/Y … We expect a 2Q beat but reiterated FY guidance given uncertainty around consumer sentiment and the macro backdrop ahead of 2H." Bank of America: buy, $120 Analyst Robert Ohmes' target reflects more than 19% upside over the coming 12 months. "WMT did not provide 2Q EBIT or EPS guide in light of the dynamic backdrop (tariffs & inventory accounting), though we see WMT well positioned to manage tariffs given its scale with suppliers, advanced pricing, automation, & inventory management, potential to shift imported [first party] goods to [third party], & lower import exposure vs. many peers … We maintain Buy on WMT as share gains continue across product categories & incomes (esp. $100k+) as its strong value offering & digital convenience resonate. WMT's outlook for [long-term] profitability continues to improve with support from digital advertising, [third party] marketplace & improvements in core [e-commerce] losses. Despite WMT's current 34x P/E near 20+ year highs, we see support for cont'd expansion." Morgan Stanley: overweight, $115 Analyst Simeon Gutman's price objective also calls for more than 14% upside. "While tariffs remain a source of uncertainty around 2FH26e earnings, WMT should continue to play to its strengths to negotiate these challenges, thanks to its superior supply chain, increasing eCommerce reach and profitability, and alternative, high margin revenue streams. We see modest upside to current 2Q consensus expectations, with F'26e guidance to remain unchanged for now, reflecting the uncertainty around the impact of tariffs and price increases required during 2FH26e. We don't think this will be negatively perceived so long as eCommerce, Retail Media and Walmart+ Membership — the key drivers in WMT's flywheel — maintain momentum, which we believe is the case." Wells Fargo: overweight, $108 price target Analyst Edward Kelly's target would amount to more than 7% upside over the next year. "Q2 is trickier than normal given the absence of guidance amid [Retail Inventory Method] accounting/tariff pricing volatility, but we expect a similar underlying story ... share gains (incl. 4%+ U.S. comp); margin progress; reiterate FY guidance despite uncertainty; fly wheel narrative intact. More important may be color on the consumer (possibly cautious) and tariff pricing (talk about playing offense); both could fuel investor caution on the 2H retail outlook." Oppenheimer: outperform rating and $115 price target Analyst Rupesh Parikh's target for the stock would equal more than 14% appreciation over the next 12 months. "Following a more difficult backdrop to start the year due to unexpected tariff and expense headwinds, we believe a positive guidance revision cycle could again materialize soon … We expect a solid all-around top-line delivery about consistent with the high-end of management's Q2 constant currency sales guidance of +3.5-4.5% … We believe management could raise FY25 (Jan. 2026) full-year targets with either the upcoming Q2 release or with the Q3 print. Amid ongoing tariff uncertainty, we would expect management to maintain conservatism and believe it is unlikely to fully flow through first half upside."

Nissan's New Leaf EV Comes With a Low Price Tag But a Steep Cost

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. For years, automotive industry executives have calmly and patiently explained that as advances in battery technology occur, and as battery-electric vehicles become more prevalent, the cost of batteries will come down and the price tags of EVs will follow. In the last decade, many automakers have promised lower-cost EVs but failed to deliver. Tesla, Chevrolet, Hyundai, Kia and Fiat are the closest to that proposition. The cheapest EV that can be purchased outright today in the U.S. is the Fiat 500e with a manufacturer's suggested retail price starting at $30,500. Last week, Nissan announced that the redesigned, next-generation 2026 Nissan Leaf will be priced to start at $29,990, nearly $3,000 less than the price of the first-generation Leaf when it was introduced in 2011. "Nissan is committed to making EV mobility accessible to all. That commitment is reflected in the pricing of the new 2026 Leaf," Michael Arbuckle, senior manager of the chief marketing management department at Nissan, told Newsweek. While the Nissan's cost may be low, the automaker is running into challenges from both the government and consumers. The Trump Administration's evolving tariff policies and a lack of charging infrastructure build out related to the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program haven't boosted customer opinions about EVs. Prospective EV drivers frequently cite cost and lack of charging capability as two of the main reasons for being hesitant about pulling the trigger on a model. "While tariffs remain a dynamic and evolving situation, Nissan remains committed to offering competitive vehicle pricing while strategically managing inventory to meet consumer demand," Arbuckle said. Nissan has shuffled its EV plans in recent years, scrapping the timeline for bringing electric U.S.-made sedans to market and pushing back the launch of the Leaf toward the end of this year. "Nissan has a larger problem than the Leaf's pricing or basic strategy," Stephanie Brinley, principal automotive analyst and associate director of AutoIntelligence at S&P Global Mobility, told Newsweek. "Delaying new EVs in the U.S. saved money and the idea of trying to time the market for when there is more volume to be had from EVs makes sense. Nissan doesn't need to be first to market to be credible in the EV space by the end of the decade. Delays and changes impacted the overall product plan over the past four years; the next four should look better for product cadence, but a lot of ground was lost," she said. With a new Chevrolet Bolt on the horizon and a more budget-friendly EV from Ford in the works, Leaf will face increasingly tough competition as it ages. Nissan needs a success. The company has around $54 billion in debt and has struggled to find a buyer. Ivan Espinosa, the automaker's fourth CEO in six years, aims to turn the company around. Interior of the 2026 Nissan Leaf. Interior of the 2026 Nissan Leaf. Nissan "The internal combustion engine vehicle lineup was allowed to age, and new generations have not stoked notable sales gains in the U.S. yet. Nissan is an automaker which has not been able to recover from the external impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2018, global sales were 5.0 million units. The low point was in 2022 with 2.9 million. Nissan increased to 3.1 million units in 2023, but our forecast shows Nissan will continue falling through the rest of the decade," Brinley said.
