
Police watchdog investigating man's death at James Smith Cree Nation in Saskatchewan
Saskatchewan's police watchdog says it is investigating a man's death after he was arrested on a First Nation northeast of Saskatoon on Monday.
The Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team says Mounties were called to the James Smith Cree Nation for reports that the man was using bear spray in a home.

In a written statement about the incident, the agency said the 29-year-old fled after officers told him he was going to be arrested under the Mental Health Services Act.

It says a brief foot chase ensued before 'the man was taken into custody without the use of force and was handcuffed.'

The statement said a conducted energy weapon (stun gun) 'was drawn during the pursuit but was not discharged during the encounter.'
The man went into medical distress and died after they attempted life-saving measures, including administering naloxone several times.

Regina police investigate reports of rampant vandalism in Wascana Centre
Not once but twice this week has the finish tower on Pine Island in Wascana Centre being the victim of vandalism. On Saturday night, multiple windows and panes of glass were smashed at the facility, leaving major damage. Volunteers from the Canoe and Rowing Club were quick to clean the mess and replace the broken panels, but just days later, the building was hit again. Car drives into Pacific Coliseum doors during Cirque du Soleil show
No one was injured but it was a startling scene for hundreds of people attending a Cirque du Soleil show at the Pacific Coliseum on Thursday night. Vancouver police say that just after 8 p.m., a car was driven into the front doors of the arena, sending glass and debris flying. The fast-moving car crashed into the Coliseum lobby at the start of the intermission for the show but police said that thanks to a concrete pillar in the way, the car didn't make it beyond the doors.
