Hulk Hogan 'paved the way for us to do what we love,' WWE star Alexa Bliss says
Hogan left a lasting legacy on WWE and the industry in general, helping to elevate it into the upper echelon of pop culture and sports entertainment. WWE paid tribute to Hogan with a 10-bell salute and a video montage showing his career in the ring.
Alexa Bliss, ahead of her tag-team match with Charlotte Flair at SummerSlam, spoke to Fox News Digital about Hogan's impact on pro wrestling.
"He obviously paved the way for what we do, and because of the impact that he's had on WWE, we're now able to do these huge shows," she said. "We're having a two-day SummerSlam. It's the first-time ever we're having a two-day SummerSlam. When you talk about WWE, one of the first names people talk about is Hulk Hogan.
"I had a moment with him at WrestleMania when I was hosting. He came out, and we did a surprise entrance and did the flex thing, and it was a lot of fun. He's made such an impact on our business — it's undeniable."
Bliss, whose real name is Alexis Kaufman, recalled her husband — singer Ryan Cabrera — showing off the Hogan video he captured at WrestleMania 35. Little did he know, Bliss was hosting the event and brought out Hogan.
"My husband had a video of that WrestleMania of me and Hulk Hogan at the entrance, not knowing it was me with him," she recalled. "He goes, 'Oh, I have this really cool video of Hulk Hogan because I went to this WrestleMania once.' I was like, 'Yeah, that's me.' And he was like, 'Wait, what? That's not you.' And I go, 'Yeah, that blonde right there, posing with Hulk Hogan…' He goes, 'No, it's a video of Hulk Hogan.' And I go, 'Right, but the person right next to him, that's me.' I was like, 'You have a video of Hulk Hogan and your future wife on that video.' I always thought that was kinda cool."
Ultimately, Bliss tipped her hat to how Hogan paved the way for her and others in the business.
"But obviously, yeah, it's super sad. Condolences to his family. He was such a big personality and a big character in our world, and he paved the way for us to do what we love."
Bliss and Flair will compete for the tag-team titles against Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez at SummerSlam. The premium live event will take place Saturday and Sunday.

'Yesterday, WWE and pro-wrestling lost one of its giants in Hulk Hogan, and I know emotions and feelings regarding it are complicated, but what is not complicated is his accomplishments and his contributions to WWE to sports entertainment, to pro wrestling, to entertainment as a whole,e they are staggering and they are indisputable,' Rhodes declared. 'So, as someone who gets to stand here and say that I'm a WWE Superstar, he was the original, and I just want to take a moment to say thank you, Hulk Hogan.' Did Rhodes and Hogan ever share the ring? Nope, but Hogan did wrestle his Cody's father Dusty a number of times back in the day, including eight matches in New Japan Pro Wrestling – if you can believe it – a Royal Rumble in WWE, and one final time on an episode of WCW Thunder in 2000, according to Cagematch. Despite being from very different generations, the way Rhodes and Hogan present themselves to the WWE Universe is remarkably similar, with the 'American Nightmare' taking more than a few cues from the 'HulkaManic' in his red, white, and blue babyface presentation post-AEW. While Rhodes' time as a babyface may rapidly be coming to a close, with Cena's redemption coming at some point, maybe as soon as SummerSlam, when that day comes, he will almost certainly take cues from Hogan there too, using the 'Hollywood Hogan' character as a template from which to tell his own story. Ron DeSantis declares ‘Hulk Hogan Day' in Florida with flags flown at half-staff
The Hulkster is getting his day in the sunshine. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced Thursday that he was declaring Friday 'Hulk Hogan Day' across the state in honor of the WWE megastar, who died at the age of 71 on July 24 at his home in Clearwater, Fla. DeSantis also said that the U.S. and Florida flags would be put at half-staff Friday at the state capitol and in Pinellas County, which includes Clearwater, where Hogan lived for the final 13 years of his life. Hulk Hogan to be cremated, memorial service plans revealed
Memorial plans have been set for Hulk Hogan a week after the legendary wrestler died at age 71. Hogan will be laid to rest in a memorial service on Aug. 5, set to take place at a church in Tampa, Florida, a source told Us Weekly. Documents obtained by the outlet on Thursday also revealed that Hogan's body will be cremated. The Pinellas County Forensic Science Center in Largo, Florida, approved the cremation on Wednesday. Hogan's death was confirmed on Thursday to be the result of an acute myocardial infarction, more commonly known as a heart attack. His manner of death was listed as natural. Although few other details were provided, official records cited by Us Weekly said the wrestling star also had a history of leukemia CLL, a type of cancer that usually impacts older adults and affects white blood cells called lymphocytes. It's unclear when Hogan was diagnosed with CLL or if he was battling the cancer in the days before his death. At the time of his passing, the World Wrestling Federation Hall of Famer was reportedly in the midst of filming a Netflix documentary about his life and career. Sources associated with the doc told CNN the previously unannounced project has been in the works since 2024. Producers reportedly culled more than 20 hours of unseen sit-down interviews with Hogan, in addition to 30 hours of scenes already shot. According to an insider, viewers are promised to 'see a side of (Hogan) they haven't seen before.' The plan is still to complete the film as production remains ongoing, though certain portions will have to be reworked, sources said. A release date has not yet been set.
