National service is part of wider endeavour to invest in human capital — Momani
AMMAN — The reactivation of the national service programme was driven by HRH Crown Prince Hussein's conviction in the importance of this national project in building a generation of disciplined and loyal young Jordanians, Government Communications Minister Mohammad Momani said on Wednesday. He noted that the programm enjoys the direct follow-up of His Majesty King Abdullah, reflecting the leadership's determination to channel youth energy into a productive force for national development. Speaking on a programme, broadcast by the Jordan Armed Forces–Arab Army (JAF) Radio, Momani, who is also the government spokesperson, said the government had worked for an entire year to translate this vision into practical steps, restoring national service as a key tool for shaping Jordanian identity and instilling the values of discipline and social responsibility. He stressed that national service is a long-term programme that reflects Jordan's approach to investing in human capital and shaping youth capable of making meaningful contributions to society and the national economy. The programme, he added, will continue under an institutional framework, away from short-term influences, to ensure sustainable impact. The JAF has full responsibility for implementing the programme, overseeing all logistical, administrative, and training aspects to ensure the highest standards of discipline and professionalism, he noted. He said that the programme combines specialised military and field training with interactive cultural and awareness sessions, designed to deepen participants' national consciousness and strengthen their ties with national institutions, foremost among them the army. Momani emphasised that the programme will undergo continuous evaluation, led by the JAF, to measure progress in achieving its goals. Its impact, he said, will gradually be reflected in strengthening young people's sense of commitment and belonging.

Egyptian Sources: Negotiations According to Witkoff Proposal as Only Way to Release Hostages - Jordan News
Egyptian sources reported that Israel has not responded to the mediators' proposal, which Hamas accepted, even after 24 hours of receiving it. The sources stated that the proposal accepted by Hamas is guaranteed by the United States. They noted that the Israeli government faces a real test to secure the release of the hostages, emphasizing that negotiations based on the U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff's proposal are the only path to their release. اضافة اعلان According to the sources, the proposal ensures a comprehensive deal that would lead to the release of all hostages. Hamas informed the Egyptian and Qatari mediators on Monday of its acceptance of a ceasefire proposal in Gaza, according to a Hamas source speaking to the press. Negotiations are ongoing to reach a potential agreement for a 60-day truce and the release of half of the Israeli hostages still held in Gaza. Over the past 22 months, mediators' efforts have failed to achieve a lasting ceasefire since the war began on October 7, 2023. The new proposal follows the Israeli Security Cabinet's approval of a plan to take control of Gaza City in the northern sector, amid international warnings of widespread hunger in the devastated and besieged territory, which is on the brink of famine. Currently, 49 people remain held in Gaza, including 27 deceased, according to the Israeli army. Hamas had taken 251 individuals into Gaza during its attack on Israel, releasing most of them in two batches. (Al-Mamlaka)
