New £90,000 Mercedes engulfed by waves after hapless driver gets STUCK on beauty spot beach
A NEW £90,000 Mercedes was engulfed by waves after the hapless driver drove onto a beach for sunset and was caught by the tide.
The 25-plate black hire car was trapped for two days after driving too far onto Black Rocks Sands in Gwynedd, North Wales.

The shiny Mercedes-Benz coupe is the latest in a spate of vehicles to get caught by the tide on the beauty spot beach.
Several vehicles have succumbed to the sea already this year despite repeated warnings to steer clear.
The Merc was stuck and partially submerged for two days as its owners waited around for a low tide to try and retrieve it.
Only a fortnight earlier, an Audi met a similar fate at the opposite end of the beach near Porthmadog.
Whilst the strandings are a nightmare for the drivers, they at least provide some amusement and interest for beach regulars.
One revealed it is a common occurrence, saying: "I've lost count of how many cars have done this on Blackrock."
Someone else quipped on social media: "Oops. Try and explain that to the insurance company because it won't cover stupidity."
Another wrote: "What an absolute plonker."
A woman had more sympathy: "Omg I'd be devastated. Easy to make a mistake, I feel sorry for them."
And one more said: "It's the cars I feel sorry for."
Ford Recalls 148,000 Vehicles: Fire & Crash Risks Explained
Meanwhile, a van driver claimed last month that he had to fork out £43,000 after his vehicle was trapped in a posh car park for two years.
Furniture designer Mark Lucas, 48, left his Vauxhall Vivaro in an underground mechanical stacked car park on Rathbones Square in December 2022 as he worked at a nearby house.
However, later that evening he couldn't access his car because the stacker had "malfunctioned".
Mark said after speaking to the concierge he was told he could collect the van after the weekend, but alleges ongoing mechanical problems meant he couldn't get his van for two years.

The amount he eventually paid out - taking into account s fees, van depreciation and the hire of the temporary vehicle - was several thousand more than the £39,000 he paid for the vehicle just months before.
On January 31 2023, he was told in an email that the van was stuck and a new lifting platform would take 40 weeks to fit and repair, reports The Telegraph.
In the meantime, Mark hired a van for £800 a month.
Early last year he said he was informed repairs were unlikely until May and that any losses would be recovered by whoever had overall responsibility.
Mark told the newspaper: "Every time we thought we would get close to the date when we thought we could get the van back they pushed it back."

The new BMW X7 is getting the Neue Klasse treatment
We only got confirmation last month that BMW's largest SUV, the X7, will return for a second generation, but we've caught it testing on the road already as it's prepared for an expected launch in 2026. BMW subtly announced the new model during its Q1 financial results call earlier this year, during which the company revealed it had incurred the research and development costs for the upcoming Neue Klasse line-up (which will launch later this year with the new iX3) as well as 'successor models to the BMW X5 and BMW X7'. Advertisement - Article continues below News of a fifth-generation X5 was no surprise, as we've also spotted it testing with some clear design influences from the Neue Klasse concepts. As with the new X5, due in 2026, the X7, which may also arrive next year, looks like it'll borrow styling from the Neue Klasse line-up. What is immediately obvious from the shots of this camouflaged test car is that the X7 will retain its position as BMW's biggest SUV. The sheer proportions will surely give it seven-seat capacity once more, ensuring it remains a close rival to the Mercedes GLS (which will soon be updated) and the full-size Range Rover. Skip advert Advertisement - Article continues below At the front end, it looks like the new X7 will continue with the split headlight design that appears on the current car and the 7 Series limousine flagship. Here we can see a chunky headlight cluster below a thin LED strip. In the middle, there's a vertical kidney grille arrangement – we'll have to wait and see if this merges into the headlights, as per the Neue Klasse concept models. Also visible are some tabs on top of the doors to the side, which is something we've seen on other prototype BMWs, including the next-generation X5. At the rear, the design is less radical, with a quad-tip exhaust system on this car suggesting it could be a hot M50 or M60 variant, plus an overhanging roof spoiler. Underneath, the new X7 is expected to sit on a revised version of BMW's existing Cluster Architecture (CLAR). This platform is able to cater to both internal-combustion and pure-electric powertrains. While BMW hasn't suggested the new X7 will gain a pure-electric variant, the German firm has at least trademarked the 'iX7' nameplate. An all-electric iX7 wouldn't be too surprising, however, given that BMW is in the process of creating EV variants of its core models. The Neue Klasse programme will see the introduction of the X3-sized iX3 first, followed by the all-electric 'i3' 3 Series and at a later stage an electric 'i1' 1 Series. It's possible the electric components for the iX7 could be taken from the i7. Powering the CLAR-underpinned i7 is a 105.7kWh battery with three different power outputs – a single-motor rear-wheel-drive 449bhp unit, a dual-motor four-wheel-drive 537bhp version and a top-rung dual-motor with 650bhp. Given the X7 is an SUV, we'd expect only the dual-motor all-wheel-drive layouts to be offered. Can't wait for the new model? Check out the best BMW X7 deals right now... Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo Interior Layout & Technology
Interior What is it like on the inside? A 405-litre boot that expands to 1,171 litres with the seats folded means two things. It's actually shrunk about 40 litres during the facelift and is about two-thirds the size of equivalent estates from Audi and Merc. You do notice. The tailgate's slope limits load capacity and the boot is actually quite narrow. Don't forget about the area under the nose though. Another 81 litres and just the place for the bulky cables. Advertisement - Page continues below There's more. Although this can be partially alleviated by raising the air suspension, elderly relatives aren't going to enjoy dropping down into the low seats – conversely, elderly dogs are less likely to need assistance into the boot and if you do wreck the 0.25Cd drag factor with a roof box you should be able to access it easily. But yeah, for good or ill, a roof height of 1,392mm (100mm lower than an RS6) does mean this is a low-slung car. How is it for those in the back? A bit dark and lacking in legroom. The front chairs are big and dominant in your view, but the Sport Turismo does at least benefit from an extra 36mm of headroom compared to the saloon. Two people will fit, the third will complain. And you'll be able to hear them because it will come as no surprise to learn that this is a very quiet and refined car. It's beautifully built and attractively designed and laid out inside. Advertisement - Page continues below Does the driver have the best of it then? Emphatically. It may be an estate, but this is still a Porsche - it's all about the driver. The GTS comes with Race-Tex Alcantara upholstery as standard. Have it, it's great. Lovely driving position, small, tactile steering wheel, you sit low and feel snug. On the whole the screens are good to interact with. The dash display is operated logically via the steering's clickwheel, while the twin-stacked central screens don't bury things too deep in the menus. Which means less jabbing to disable the speed bongs and lane keep. And you'll want to do that as Porsche's lane keep isn't that impressive. Can you have paddles? Funny you should ask, because yes, post-facelift you can now option paddles in a Taycan. No gearbox obviously, they're there to adjust the regen braking. At last. Until now Porsche has always insisted braking should be done with the brake pedal, but has now relented. And charged you £394 if you want it.

Team boss Vowles signs long-term Williams F1 contract
LONDON, June 19 (Reuters) - Williams team principal James Vowles has signed a new long-term contract, the former Formula One world champions said on Thursday. Vowles, 45, joined Williams from Mercedes in 2023 and has helped turn around their fortunes with the British-based team fifth overall after 10 of 24 races. Williams, who gave no details about the contract, have scored more points (55) this season with drivers Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon than in the last three combined. Vowles said in a statement the team had "felt like home from the moment I walked through the door." "We are all united in our ambition to build on our legacy and win World Championships again. Over the past two years we have focused on fixing the foundations, and now have a platform to go for glory in the years to come."
