BBC spends £61,00 after scandals

Daily Mail2 hours ago
The BBC has spent £61,000 on office accessories to encourage staff to call out bad behavior in the wake of recent scandals. The corporation has bought 10,000 pin badges, 7,000 mugs and 6,000 lanyards for the new 'Call It Out' campaign, according to a Freedom of Information request by Sky News .
The campaign was launched by director general Tim Davie in April, in response to its Workplace Culture Review. The review was commissioned in the wake of the Huw Edwards scandal and found that there were 'powerful figures' at the BBC who made their colleagues' lives 'unbearable'.
The new initiative hopes to 'encourage open feedback, celebrate positive behavior and deal promptly with concerns', as well as help staff to raise workplace concerns. In the past year the BBC has been engulfed in multiple scandals including its highest paid presenter Gary Lineker being forced out of Match of the Day after he shared an anti-semitic social media post.
Opera singer Wynne Evans lost his job at BBC Radio Wales after he was found to have used a vile sexual slur during the Strictly tour. In February, the BBC apologized for DJ Tim Westwood's 'bullying and misogynistic behavior' while he worked as a presenter on Radio 1.
Announcing the Call It Out initiative in April, Davie said: 'We're rolling out a new 'Call it Out' campaign: This is designed to be highly-visible, high-impact and we're all going to be seeing a lot of it in the coming weeks. 'We want to build confidence and that really came through in the staff survey. And we want that confidence throughout the organization to call out bad behavior and challenge whatever falls short of our standards, and to play their part in building a positive culture that we are proud of.
'That includes recognizing exemplary behavior – an important part of the report's recommendations. ' 'And we'll be asking everyone to download our 'Call it Out' guide to help them flag the good, call out the bad, and encourage a more open and transparent discussion around our culture. Dare I say we need to be a little less British sometimes and speak in a way that is a little less British sometimes.'

Despite viewer's concern, the regulator will not be taking any further action. A spokesperson said."We carefully assessed the complaints we received about this series of Love Island. "We recognise that emotionally charged or confrontational scenes can upset some viewers. "But, in our view, negative behaviour in the villa was not shown in a positive light, and contestants were seen supporting or apologising to each other. "We also took into account that the format of this reality show is well-established, and viewers would expect to see highs and lows as relationships and friendships are tested." Ofcom received 14,167 complaints about the ITV reality series, including 24 about spin-off show Love Island: Unseen Bits, with the highest number of complaints coming on July 24, which saw 3,549 complaints relating to alleged bullying behaviour towards contestant Shakira Khan. Molly Mae Hague vows to keep posting about parenting despite backlash as she insists she 'regrets nothing' - but Tommy Fury admits he doesn't feel the same way

Molly Mae Hague has insisted she will keep posting about motherhood to help others despite suffering fierce backlash from trolls online. However just as his partner vowed to keep sharing her life on social media, Tommy Fury admitted he is not the type of person to open his life up to the world. The influencer, 26, regularly shares vlogs sharing her experience with parenting their daughter Bambi, two, but her more recent videos have caused a stir. She was recently forced to hit back at followers who claimed her sister Zoe, 28, was 'more of a dad' to Bambi after spotting the boxer missing from her many vlogs. Speaking in a new YouTube video after a few weeks off, Molly Mae said: 'No matter what went on online after my last couple of videos, do I have a single regret for speaking about how I feel in my motherhood journey over the past couple of weeks? 'Absolutely not. In my DMs, the messages that I receive when I open up about my feelings towards motherhood and how sometimes I'm feeling and I'm vulnerable about it, like it makes it so incredibly worth it. 'Because the messages I receive, I have mums actually saying to me, like, you don't understand how much I needed to hear what you said. I know it's what I need to do. Like. I'm not going to shy away ever from talking about how I'm really feeling in any situation' While Molly Mae is set on still opening up her life to the camera, Tommy said he is 'not the type of guy to have a YouTube channel', while discussing his upcoming fly on the wall documentary, Tommy: The Good. The Bad. The Fury. He said: 'I thought it was important for me to share the documentary because like I've said many times I'm not the type of guy who will sit down in front of a camera and have a YouTube channel where it's me doing Q&As and talking about my life like that. 'I'm a fighter and that's what I've always been and I feel like by doing this documentary people are going to see a side to me that they have never seen before, because I don't show that. 'They only known what they see on Instagram and seeing me fight but there's a whole other layer beyond that which people will see in the documentary, so that's why it felt like the right time.' Prior to their split, Tommy did appear in Molly Mae's vlogs and fans recently questioned why he is now missing from them now they have reconciled. Molly Mae admitted she and Tommy are 'still figuring things out' in their relationship. In her latest YouTube video Molly-Mae defended him and said: 'I've seen so many comments saying "Zoe is more the dad" I only vlog when I am not with Tommy, I am with Tommy literally 80% of the week and he is with Bambi majority of the week,' 'But I vlog when we are here and he is at his because it's just something that I am not ready to like open up with yet and like flinging the camera around like when we're a family'. Before adding: 'I just think like we're not there yet and still figuring out life and living situations. I'm not ready to vlog like we used to'. Molly-Mae later broke down in tears as she opened up about Bambi's tantrum and explained that everything was a 'huge problem' even convincing the toddler to wear shoes. Filming herself in the driving seat with Bambi in the back she said: 'I'm trying so so hard to stay positive but, I feel like I need to keep my camera running all day so you can see like every single thing,' '[Bambi] is a huge problem, [She] screams [I] can't even get like socks and shoes on'. Molly-Mae and Tommy split in August last year, later citing the boxer's struggle with alcohol as the reason for their break-up, but reconciled earlier this year. They have faced accusations their breakup was a 'publicity stunt' after they were filmed sharing a passionate kiss on New Year's Eve ahead of the launch of her three-part Prime Video series. Molly previously said her biggest 'frustration' was having their breakup questioned by skeptics when there was a lot more happening behind the scenes. Elsewhere in the new video Molly-Mae tearfully broke her silence following recent backlash from fans who once again branded the whinging millionaire influencer 'out of touch'. She has been accused of 'always moaning' in recent weeks after complaining she'd 'not done one fun thing all summer' despite jetting off to multiple destinations. She also faced criticism after complaining about a recent £86,000 motorhome holiday. Molly-Mae's sister has also come under fire for her 'tone deaf' posts of late after revealing she had fled Bali for Dubai after just 48 hours because it didn't live up to her expectations. In the clip Molly-Mae claimed that she 'didn't care' about the uproar but has been left 'scared' about discussing anything 'controversial' She said: 'I don't care who tells me I am out of touch with reality or all this stuff thats going on on T ikTok at the minute, I don't care i'm not going to not talk about it'. She later went on: 'I feel like I don't want to talk about anything controversial anymore because in the last video I said some things I probably could have worded better and even with all the motherhood things I am talking about at the minute, it's just a lot'. 'Debunking that whole thing about me feeling like I shouldn't talk about what is going on in the day because I am scared about what people will think and what they have to say about it'. She said: 'I've see so many comments saying "Zoe is more the dad" I only vlog when I am not with Tommy, I am with him literally 80% of the week and he is with Bambi majority of the week' 'But I vlog when we are here and he is at his because it's just something that I am not ready to like open up with yet and like flinging the camera around like when we're a family' The couple split in August last year, later citing the boxer's struggle with alcohol as the reason for their break-up, but reconciled earlier this year Last week fans blasted the TV personality for 'always moaning' after after she said she'd 'not done one fun thing all summer' despite jetting off to multiple destinations. She said in her vlog: 'I said to a friend the other day, that I'm going to make it to the end of summer having not done one fun thing.' She then spoke to her sister and said: 'Zoe, I haven't socialised once. I'm going to get to the end of this summer having not done one social fun thing. 'I haven't a life. That's not good is it. Summer will end and I've not done one fun social thing.' It left some fans open-mouthed as they called out how she failed to acknowledge the three holidays she's already been on this year. Some comments read: 'She's a millionaire, she can literally wake up tomorrow and do whatever the hell she wants', 'Wimbledon, lunches, Spain, Dubai, France, Centre Parcs... let's normalise that', 'This was so jarring because she can casually spend 6k in Dior on an outfit to log to Wimbledon then complains she has no time for herself', 'Why does she always want us to feel sorry for her?'

TV fans predict 'Inbetweeners reunion' after stars tease new project

Fans of The Inbetweeners have been begging for a reunion of the Noughties comedy series since it came to an end in 2010—and some new photos have given everyone fresh hope. Starring Simon Bird, Joe Thomas, James Buckley, and Blake Harrison, The Inbetweeners became one of Channel 4's most successful shows of its era. Set in suburban southern England, The Inbetweeners focused on the hilarious and painfully awkward love lives (or lack thereof) of four ordinary boys in sixth form college. It ran for three seasons, produced 18 episodes in total, spawned two sequel films, and is still one of the most popular British comedy shows of all time. Such is the extent of its popularity in Britain that fans have begged for a reunion episode for 10 years now, following the release of The Inbetweeners Movie 2 in 2014. So, when one cast member took to Instagram with a cryptic post, it's safe to say he set the comments alight. On his social media, James teased that he and Joe are 'working on something', giving no further details to excited fans. The post was accompanied by a series of pictures of James and Joe, who dressed up in different outfits for a photoshoot and showed fans behind-the-scenes images of the get-together. Naturally, the comments section reacted anything but calmly to the post. MostlyEnders commented, 'Inbetweeners 3?' while Johnoo1992 demanded, 'We need an Inbetweeners reunion'. SkylarRossFelton said they 'couldn't wait' for a potential Inbetweeners 3, while JamesKeeleyy is also 'waiting' not-so patiently. Following the end of The Inbetweeners, stars Joe and James worked together on the sitcom White Gold, which followed a crew of window salesmen in 1980s Essex. White Gold ran for two seasons between 2017 and 2019 before it was axed by the BBC, with James admitting in 2020 he had no idea the show had been cancelled. Some fans who stayed with the lads until White Gold predicted that the window sales comedy would be making a return following the Insta pics, with that being the most recent project James and Joe worked on together. MichaelParkerus was clear about what he wants: 'I don't care if it's good [or bad], I'll watch anything that supports you four getting back together.' Since then, the four stars of The Inbetweeners have all been working on separate things, with the 2019 Fwends Reunited show still the last time any of them worked together. The reunion show was panned by fans, sadly, as people had expected the talk show to be a one-off sequel episode. Out of all the cast, though, work-wise, it looks like James and Joe are the closest, as this is not the first time they have worked on a new project in 2025, with the two teaming up for an Oasis-themed sketch in aid of Comic Relief. The sketch – titled Oasis: The Reunion – followed efforts to get the feuding brothers back on stage together and starred Martin Lewis as an accountant. More Trending Joe revealed last year that he, James, Simon, and Blake have all discussed the possibility of an Inbetweeners comeback, adding that they think it would be a 'nice thing to do'. 'We're all still around; we're all still in each other's lives. We all still like each other, and if it was something that came up, I think we would want to do it,' he said. View More » Joe continued: 'I feel like we all still really like each other. We've all been able to go away and get various monkeys off our backs, in terms of things that we felt we needed to do other than The Inbetweeners to prove something to ourselves.' Got a story?
