Denzel Washington rips Jerry Jones, state of the Cowboys on ‘First Take'
Washington and Spike Lee were appearing on the ESPN program to promote their new movie 'Highest 2 Lowest' when the Cowboys came up, and the two-time Academy Award-winning actor took aim at the the franchise's owner.
'I've been a Cowboys fan since the '60s. He's making it hard for me,' Washington said about Jones. 'Not to be a fan, because I'm still a Cowboys fan. I'm still going to have the star on the side of the hat, but he ain't thinking about us. He's thinking about his pocket.'

The Cowboys are in the middle of a very public and terse negotiation with star pass rusher Micah Parsons, who is looking for a contract extension.
Parsons has expressed a desire to be traded elsewhere after negotiations continued to stall and the Cowboys' owner seemed to take shots at the football player through comments in the media.
The Cowboys are coming off a disappointing season in 2024, where the team missed the postseason.
'There's box office and there's Oscars, Jerry,' an intense-looking Washington said into the camera. 'Been a while, huh? Ain't been to the show, you wouldn't know… what it is to win.'
'And I love the Cowboys!' Washington added. 'I love the Cowboys. Because I really love them, this is why I feel the way I feel.'
But Washington got one final shot in at Jones when he paraphrased a tagline for the movie: 'All money ain't good money, Jerry.'

The Cowboys haven't won a Super Bowl title since 1995 and haven't made it beyond the divisional round in that span either, further upsetting fans of the struggling franchise.
Before last season, Dallas did make it to the postseason in three straight seasons, but fell well short in each of those appearances.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones credited an experimental trial drug for successfully treating advanced melanoma as he disclosed his cancer diagnosis publicly for the first time. Jones revealed his illness in a documentary series, 'America's Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys,' which will debut on Netflix next week. The 82-year-old Jones then told The Dallas Morning News how he was initially diagnosed in June 2010 and underwent two surgeries on his lung and two on his lymph nodes over the next 10 years after skin cancer cells metastasized to other parts of his body. 'Well, you don't like to think about your mortality, but I was so fortunate to have some great people that sent me in the right direction,' Jones said after practice on Wednesday. 'I got to be part of a trial that was propitious. It really worked. It's called PD-1 (therapy), and it really, really, really worked.' First-year Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer described Jones' fight with cancer as an 'amazing story' and praised him for going public. 'I'm glad that Jerry shared it, just because I think it gives people hope,' Schottenheimer said Wednesday. 'It gives people the strength to say … 'Hey, you can beat this.'' Schottenheimer, 51, used his last news conference of the Cowboys' nearly monthlong stay in Southern California to talk about his own cancer diagnosis. He underwent surgery in 2003 for thyroid cancer at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Then-Washington Commanders owner Dan Snyder helped arrange Schottenheimer's treatment two years after firing his father, Marty Schottenheimer, as coach. Brian Schottenheimer was Washington's quarterbacks coach during the 2001 season, the same year Snyder himself was treated for thyroid cancer. 'It doesn't discriminate against anybody,' Schottenheimer said. 'And mine was certainly less serious, but I was 28 when I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Nothing like Stage 4, nothing like what Jerry and other people have to go through. But you hear that word 'cancer,' and it scares the hell out of you.'

Where did CeeDee Lamb rank in the 2025 NFL Top 100?
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb may not have had the best weekend, but when the former Oklahoma Sooners star wears his uniform and is on the field, he remains one of the best in the NFL. The 15th iteration of the "NFL Top 100" began airing on NFL Network in June with players No. 100 to 91. This week, players No. 40 through 31 will be ranked. Most recently, Lamb, entering his sixth season in the league, checked as the NFL's 35th best player in the countdown. Lamb is coming off a season in which he caught 101 passes for 1,194 yards and six touchdowns. It marked the third straight year he caught more than 100 passes and the fourth straight in which he gained more than 1,100 yards receiving. Accordingly, he was named to the Pro Bowl for the fourth straight season and named an All-Pro for the third consecutive year. His 2025 numbers did drop across the board compared to his 2024 totals. His ranking did, too. Entering last year, Lamb ranked as the No. 13 player in the league, a drop of 22 spots this year. Right next to him, at No. 36 was his Cowboys teammate, linebacker Micah Parsons. Parsons also fell from No. 17 entering last year. Dallas selected Lamb with the No. 17 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. With the Sooners, he caught 173 passes for 3,292 yards and 32 touchdowns over three seasons. After his junior year, he was named a consensus All-American upon leading the Big 12 in touchdown catches with 14. His reception total ranks him second in school history behind only Ryan Broyles, while his yardage total ranks him third, behind Broyles and Sterling Shepard. The Cowboys are coming off a disappointing 7-10 season in which they failed to make the playoffs for the first time since Lamb's rookie year. They open the regular season Thursday, September 4, on the road against the defending Super Bowl Champions, the Philadelphia Eagles. Three of the Lakers' NBA Cup group play games have been announced
As part of the NBA's new media deal that will kick in for this coming season, a number of Emirates NBA Cup games will be shown on Amazon Prime Video, including the final game that will determine the winner of the competition. On Wednesday, one day before the full schedule for the 2025-26 campaign will be released, the league unveiled all group play games that will be shown on national television. Most of them will be broadcast on Amazon Prime, but a few others can be seen on either ESPN or Peacock. Three of those contests involve the Los Angeles Lakers. They will play the Memphis Grizzlies on Oct. 31, the Los Angeles Clippers on Nov. 25 and the Dallas Mavericks on Nov. 28. All games that comprise the knockout rounds of the Emirates NBA Cup in December will be shown on Prime Video. The quarterfinal round will take place on Dec. 9 and Dec. 10, the semifinals will be on Dec. 13 and the final round will be held on Dec. 16. As was the case in the previous two seasons, both the semifinal and final rounds will take place in Las Vegas.
