Old Beirut explosion video falsely linked to Pakistan's attack on India: PIB fact-checks
The fact checking arm of PIB said that a video of explosive attacks in Beirut in 2020 is being spread by the Pakistani handles.
"An old video is being shared on social media with the claim that Pakistan has launched a missile attack on India in retaliation," PIB said.

PIB also said advised social media users to not fall for the propaganda being spread by Pakistani handles.
"The video being shared is of the explosive attack that took place in Beirut, Lebanon in the year 2020, Don't fall for the propaganda being spread by Pakistani handles. Rely only on official information," it added.
This comes hours after Armed successfully intercepted and shot down over 50 swarm drones during multiple Pakistani attempts to breach the
Line of Control
(LoC) and International Borders, according to military sources.
In a comprehensive counter-drone operation, Army Air Defence units deployed advanced weaponry including L-70 guns, Zu-23mm systems, Schilka systems, and specialized counter-UAS equipment across multiple sectors including Udhampur, Samba, Jammu, Akhnoor, Nagrota, and Pathankot.
"Pakistan Armed Forces launched multiple attacks using drones and other munitions along the entire Western Border on the intervening night of 08 and 09 May 2025. Pak troops also resorted to numerous cease fire violations (CFVs) along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir," Army said in a post on X.
"The drone attacks were effectively repulsed and a befitting reply was given to the CFVs," it added.

2023 law insulates CEC, EC from legal action; CECs removal only by Parliament
Agency: PTI Last Updated: New Delhi, Aug 19 (PTI) As opposition parties threaten the impeachment of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar and action against the two election commissioners if the INDIA bloc comes to power, here is a look at the law on how they can be removed and whether they can be taken to court for decisions taken by them while in office. Clause 16 of the Chief Election Commissioner and other Election Commissioners (Appointment, Conditions of Service and Term of Office) Act, 2023 grants immunity to the CEC and ECs from any legal action for decisions taken while in office. '… no court shall entertain or continue any civil or criminal proceedings against any person who is or was a Chief Election Commissioner or an Election Commissioner for any act, thing or word, committed, done or spoken by him when, or in the course of acting or purporting to act in the discharge of his official duty or function," the clause reads. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has threatened 'stern action" against Kumar and the two ECs over allegations of 'vote chori" (vote theft) through the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls in Bihar, when the INDIA bloc comes to power. Gandhi's threats came days after the CEC served him a seven-day ultimatum to submit a signed affidavit to back his vote-theft claims and said or else, his allegations will be considered invalid. According to Clause 11(1) of the Act, the CEC or an EC can, at any time, by writing under his hand addressed to the president, resign from his office. Clause 11(2) states that the CEC cannot be removed from his office except in like manner and on like grounds as needed for the removal a Supreme Court judge. Supreme Court and high court judges can be removed only through a motion passed by both houses of Parliament. A motion supported by 50 MPs of the Rajya Sabha or 100 MPs of the Lok Sabha has to be moved in Parliament and passed by the House with a two-thirds majority of those present. The law says the other ECs cannot be removed from office except on the CEC's recommendation. Opposition's INDIA bloc on Tuesday, August 19, named former Supreme Court judge B Sudershan Reddy as its candidate for the Vice President's election. The name of INDIA bloc pick for the Vice Presidential election was announced by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge during a meeting with the other allies. B Sudershan Reddy will contest against the NDA's nominee, CP Radhakrishnan. The Vice Presidential election is scheduled for September 9. Even as Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged the Opposition to support NDA's Vice-Presidential candidate CP Radhakrishnan, the INDIA bloc on Tuesday fielded its own nominee — former Supreme Court judge Sudershan his elevation to the Supreme Court, Reddy served as Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court and as a Judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court. Reddy retired as a Supreme Court judge in the joint Opposition candidate, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge said the upcoming Vice Presidential election was an ideological battle.'All Opposition parties are on board.
