Habagat to bring rains over Luzon this Monday
The Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) is expected to bring rains in several areas in Luzon in the next 24 hours, PAGASA said Sunday afternoon.
In its 4 p.m. daily weather forecast, the state weather bureau said Ilocos Region, Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Zambales, and Bataan should expect wet weather on the start of the work week.
Metro Manila, Cordillera Administrative Region, CALABARZON, Palawan, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, and the rest of Central Luzon will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the Habagat.
These moderate to at times heavy rains may cause flash floods or landslides.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms will also persist throughout the rest of Luzon due to the Habagat.
Meanwhile, Visayas and Mindanao will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms.
These severe thunderstorms may trigger flash floods or landslides.
State meteorologists also said winds will be moderate to strong while coastal waters will be moderate to rough in extreme Luzon.
The rest of the country will see light to moderate wind conditions and slight to moderate coastal water conditions.

PAGASA suspends issuance of heat index forecasts as rainy season begins

''During this period, it is important to focus on providing accurate and timely information related to hazards and potential impacts associated with the rainy season,'' PAGASA said in a statement. Heat index forecasts will resume on March 1, 2026, to coincide with the dry season. Local heat index information and iHeatMap remain accessible on the DOST-PAGASA website. ''Nevertheless, for areas that are still experiencing hot weather, the public is advised to stay informed through official announcements from the relevant local authorities and take necessary precautions to ensure your safety and well-being,'' PAGASA said. Thunderstorm alert up over Zambales, Bataan
