Japan's Miyu Yamashita claims first major title, wins Women's British Open
Yamashita holed two big par putts on the back nine at Royal Porthcawl, the last one when Hull had closed to within one shot of the lead.
Hull started the final round three shots behind. She holed a 20-foot birdie putt on the 14th to get within one shot. But the English star hit into a pot bunker off the tee at the 16th and did well to make bogey. She made another bogey on the 17th and had to settle for a 69 to tie for second with Minami Katsu of Japan.
Japanese players now have won four of the last nine majors in women's golf. Mao Saigo won the first major of the year at the Chevron Championship.

Tragically Hip offers helping hand to Canada women's rugby team fundraising campaign
The Tragically Hip have joined forces with Rugby Canada, selling a T-shirt, seen in this handout image, to raise funds for the second-ranked Canadian women's team ahead of the Rugby World Cup in England. THE CANADIAN PRESS/Handout - Rugby Canada (Mandatory Credit) The Tragically Hip is doing its bit to help support the Canadian women's rugby team ahead of this month's World Cup in England. The iconic Canadian band is selling a limited-edition T-shirt with proceeds going to supporting the second-ranked Canadian women. 'This team is the embodiment of what it means to be Canadian — passionate, humble, and resilient," the band said in a statement. 'This partnership is about getting all of Canada behind one of the most inspiring untold stories in this country. It's lifting up a team and a nation on the world stage, cheering on our women as they aim to achieve their dreams.' The T-shirt, which retails for $45, is black with The Hip — above the tagline 'Since 1984' — added into Rugby Canada's red shield logo. 'This T-shirt is about belief in our team and pride in supporting Canada,' said Rugby Canada CEO Nathan Bombrys. 'To have the legendary and distinctly Canadian band The Tragically Hip publicly backing our team speaks volumes about the pride this group of rugby players has inspired across the country.' The Canadian women operate on a far smaller budget than top-ranked England, as well as No. 3 New Zealand and No. 4 France. To that end, Rugby Canada launched its 'Mission: Win Rugby World Cup' fundraising campaign in March with the goal of raising $1 million. It says it has reached more than 88 per cent of that target, money that is being used to support the squad in its tournament preparation. The Canadian women play their final World Cup tune-up match Saturday against fifth-ranked Ireland in Belfast. Canada opens Group B play Fiji on Aug. 23 in York before facing No. 9 Wales on Aug. 30 in Manchester and No. 8 Scotland on Sept. 6 in Exeter at the expanded 16-team tournament. The Canadian women finished fourth at the last World Cup. Their best showing at the tournament was runner-up to host France in 2014. Neil Davidson, The Canadian Press

Article content It was pure drama from start to finish and there was a packed stadium on the fifth day at the historic venue. Article content Article content Those in attendance and million others — including this columnist — who caught the action on the boob tube will have the thrills and spills of that fifth day forever etched in their minds. Article content If you are an Indian fan, it was 56 minutes of pure heaven. And if you belonged to the home camp it would likely be 56 minutes of hell. But for a neutral fan this was cricket at its very best. Article content This wasn't a Twenty20 bang-a-ball match, but a Test encounter and you would never know it — and we may never see anything like this again. Article content India came back to grab this epic victory and force a 2-2 tie in one of the hardest, closest-fought series. It will be a summer that won't soon be forgotten soon as fans of the sport were treated to a rivalry that was so intense that it went down to the wire after nearly seven weeks of non-stop action. Article content England, led by the mercurial Ben Stokes, and India, captained by 25-year-old newcomer Shubman Gill, went at it hammer and tongs and, in the end, it was probably fitting that these two finely tuned squads settled for a draw. Article content What unfolded at The Oval on the fifth day was pure, sheer drama that will earn itself a place in sport's most prized moments. Article content England arrived on the final day of a classic summer Test needing 35 runs with four wickets in hand in its chase of 374, but were blown away on a morning of unbearable tension and true sporting drama. Article content Article content Article content Siraj, who has had to toil in the shadows of superstar Jasprit Bumrah and Shami, finally made his mark and he will be feted by millions when he returns home. Siraj stamped his name in history with his third wicket of the morning, a gut-busting fifth of the innings and 23rd of the series. Article content Apart from Siraj's heroics, few will forget the brave Chris Woakes, who had his arm in a sling following dislocating his shoulder earlier in the game. He walked out in a desperate attempt to win before Siraj ended this series by uprooting Atkinson's stump with a yorker. Article content 'It has been one of the all-time best Test matches,' England coach Brendon McCullum remarked. Article content 'We turned up today with high hopes, but Mohammad Siraj and the passion of the Indian boys was too strong and ultimately they deserve to win this Test match,' he added. Article content Scores: India 224 (Karun Nair 57, Gus Atkinson five for 33) and 396 (Yashvasi Jaiswal 118, Josh Tongue five for 125) beat England 247 (Zak Crawley 64, Harry Brook 53) and 367 (Brook 111, Joe Root 105, Ben Duckett 54, Prasidh Krishna four for 62, Siraj four for 84).
