Marcus Rashford set to join FC Barcelona on loan
Reports also suggest that a verbal agreement is in place and that Barcelona is making arrangements for a medical in the days to come.
The England international has long been out of favour with United's head coach Ruben Amorim. The 27-year-old last donned the United jersey during the side's Europa League match against Viktoria Plzen in December, 2024.
The first instance of a rift between Amorim and Rashford was when the player was left out of the squad for the December 15 Manchester Derby when Alejandro Garnacho was also omitted.
While the Argentine youngster returned to Amorim's scheme, Rashford was nowhere to be seen. The United academy graduate even came out and spoke about being ready for a 'new challenge'.
In January, Rashford was loaned out to Aston Villa for the rest of the 2024-25 season where he made 10 appearances in the league and had five goal contributions.

Lamine Yamal scored his first goal as a Barcelona No.10 after the Spaniard caught FC Seoul goalkeeper off-guard with his left-footed stunner during their pre-season friendly on Thursday. The clash against FC Seoul is Barcelona's second match in their Asian tour 2025, after a 3-1 win over Japan's Vissel Kobe a few days ago. An iconic number, which was worn by legendary Lionel Messi, Yamal was given the coveted no.10 jersey by club president Joan Laporta last month on June 16 - the day when the 18-year-old signed a contract that will keep him with the La Liga giants until 2031. Yamal's first shot at goal came in the eighth minute as the youngster got going on the right wing and shoot from the near post. However, his shot hit the post to fall into the path of Robert Lewandowski, who did the rest with a simple tap in. His moment of brilliance came six minutes later when Lamalcut in from the right after stealing possession of the ball and gets his shot blocked. On rebound, the ball once again fell in front of Yamal, who made no mistake in the finding the bottom corner of the goalkeeper's near post. Yamal's goal goal also wooed the South Koeran fans who have come to the stadium to watch their favourite start live in action. The new No.10 added another to his tally as the youngster cut back again to steer the ball past the goalkeeper after an assist from Dani Olmo at the stroke of half-time. Post the clash against FC Seoul, Barcelona will be playing against Daegu FC in the final clash of their 2025 Asian Tour on August 4 which will be played at the Daegu Stadium. Ruben Amorim praises Rasmus Hojlund, but does not comment on his future
After his impressive outing in the pre-season game against Bournemouth, Ruben Amorim praised the improvement of striker Rasmus Højlund. He scored one and assisted another, even as United are in the market for a new striker, with the names RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko and Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins doing the round. Thrashing Bournemouth 4-1, a team that beat United over both legs last year, Amorim dwelled on his target's man outing, 'People focus on the goals and we suffer a lot because of the lack of goals. But I think not just the goals, but the way he connects the play. Every time we have to kick the ball, we are kicking the ball when we are more pressed,' Amorim said of Hojlund's performance. 'The ability for him to hold the defender and to connect in the support is helping us a lot to play better. And we are playing better because he is playing better.' The Dane excelled in hold-up play, made good incisive runs, pressed aggressively, especially the centre backs, and dropped deep when he needed, and most importantly, ruffled the net, which he had struggled last year. He managed just 10 strikes and four assists in a horrible last season. He faced scathing criticism for his wayward finishing as well as dropping back, even though United legend Wayne Rooney had always supported him. 'but I've got faith in him, I think he's a good player. He works hard, I think that's important as well, I think he just needs that goal – once he gets it, they'll all start going in,' Rooney explained. He had also pointed out on the lack of service to the 22-year-old. 'To be a forward, nine times out of 10, you're relying on your teammates to give you chances and put the ball in the box or slide balls in behind. Maybe he hasn't been getting that service of late,' he said. United's most prolific goal-scorer also gave him a piece of advice. 'As a striker for Manchester United, when you're not scoring goals, there's a lot of pressure and a lot of people talking about you, can you do it for Manchester United? I think the best thing to do is simplify it and making the runs into the penalty box is as easy as it comes, you have to make them runs,' Rooney said during an interaction with BBC Football. 'Simplify your game, getting the ball, laying it off, getting in the box, getting the ball out wide, getting into the penalty box – putting yourself in the best position to score goals. If you do that, you will get the chances and you will score goals,' he added. However, it's uncertain that striker would turn up for United next season, as there are rumours of the club selling him to boost purchase of new recruits. The manager said as much. 'I'm really happy with Rasmus, but I don't know what is going to happen until the end of the market. The important thing is that Rasmus is scoring goals. He's connecting really well with the team. He's improving. Again, I don't know what is going to happen until the market is closed. We suffered a lot because of the lack of goals last season.' Overall, Amorim said he was happier with his team's showing in the pre-season in the US. 'More than the results, it's the way they are playing. I think it's really important. I think they are playing better also because they are connecting better with each other,' Amorim said. 'Not just on the pitch, but off the pitch. I think they are stronger, they are faster. In this moment, of course, it's pre-season. But you can see the intensity is completely different,' he added.

Messi's last-second assist helps Inter Miami edge Atlas 2-1 in Leagues Cup
Lionel Messi had two assists, including one in the final seconds of the match, to help lift Inter Miami over Atlas 2-1 in their Leagues Cup opener. It was Messi's first game since he and teammate Jordi Alba were suspended one match by Major League Soccer for skipping its All-Star game. He connected with Marcelo Weigandt for the winning score in the final minute of stoppage time. It's a competition that we always do well in, Messi said in Spanish during a post-match interview with Apple TV. I think we did a great job against a great team. Messi also assisted on Telasco Segovia's goal that opened scoring. He received a through ball from Sergio Busquets and sent it to Segovia for an easy finish in the 58th. Rivaldo Lozano scored the equalizer for the Guadalajara club in the 80th minute before Weigandt's goal in the 96th that had to be confirmed by VAR after he was originally ruled offside. That meant five assists in July for Messi, who was named the Major League Soccer Player of the Month after netting eight goals and helping Miami go 4-1-1 in league play. Both sides had their chances during a chippy first half that saw a brief heated exchange between Inter Miami coach Javier Mascherano and Atlas coach Gonzalo Pineda after an Atlas player went down. It's just a soccer situation, Pineda said through an interpreter, adding that he was upset when play continued. I was protesting that play. I told him (Mascherano) that it was nothing against him, just a soccer play. We talked about it in the dressing room, nothing beyond that. Miami goalkeeper Rocco Ros Novo had three saves in the first half, including one in which he slid over to deny Eduardo Aguirre on a header to the back post. Luis Surez blasted a shot off the crossbar on the final play of the first half. Argentine midfielder Rodrigo De Paul made his Inter Miami debut. De Paul, Messi's national team buddy, officially signed with the club last week. After Weigandt's goal was confirmed, fireworks erupted at Chase Stadium. Messi pumped his fist in celebration as he embraced De Paul and Surez. Pineda said he was surprised to see Messi so happy to win the match, given how many high-stakes games the 38-year-old has played in. He's won so much," Pineda said. "He's usually quite (even-keeled) in general. Mascherano said the celebrations were a response to winning a tense match. We play to win, Mascherano said through an interpreter. That's what this beautiful sport is about. ... The way that we celebrated is probably just a way to vent how we felt at the time. We won a game that we didn't play brilliantly, and at the final second, in an epic way, we were able to win it.
