Land Rover's new Discovery Tempest and Gemini editions: luxury meets legacy
Land Rover says the Discovery Tempest is the most luxurious, comfortable and highly-specified Discovery ever produced.
The new Discovery Tempest and Gemini editions are a nod to Discovery's 35-year legacy and the model's history in their names. In addition to the new Tempest and Gemini editions, Discovery also offers fresh wheel options, enhanced equipment and a new range of curated accessory packs.
Discovery (Land Rover) has beefed up their range with two new bespoke additions and also updating the rest of the line-up.
Tempest
The manufacturer says the Discovery Tempest is the most luxurious, comfortable and highly specified Discovery ever produced.
Tempest takes its name from the secret development launch programme for the second-generation Discovery launched in 1998 – one of the brand's most recognisable models.
It's available with a choice of three body colours: Charente Grey, Varesine Blue or Carpathian Grey, all exclusively with a Matte Protective Film.
A contrasting Petra Copper Gloss roof finish is standard with Narvik Gloss Black as an option. It's complemented by a Petra Copper Gloss finish for exterior design details including the wing vent, Discovery script and lower bumper inserts.
The 22‑inch Diamond Turned Style 5124 alloy wheel design sports Petra Copper tinted lacquer and Gloss Black detailing.
There's unique badging for the B-pillars, treadplates, puddle lamps and interior finishes. The cabin is enhanced with Shadow Aluminium detailing, and extended Ebony Windsor leather upholstery.
Gemini
The Discovery Gemini is a tribute to Discovery's design and engineering, taking its name from the codename given to the Tdi diesel engine that powered the original Discovery from 1989.
There are six exterior colours, including Sedona Red which is a first for Discovery and unique to Gemini, with a Narvik Gloss Black contrast roof. The Gloss Black detailing extends to the lower body cladding and front wing vents, complemented by an Atlas Gloss grille surround and Discovery script.
A Gemini-specific graphic on the B-pillar badges, treadplates and interior finishes complements new 21-inch split-seven-spoke Style 7001 alloy wheels finished in Diamond Turned Silver.
It comes with a cooler compartment located between the front seats, Click & Go media holders for rear seat occupants and three-zone climate control.

It's no 'poor man's Defender': New Hyundai Santa Fe lands in SA, with hybrid power
The new Hyundai Santa Fe is now available in South Africa. Image: Supplied Flaunting a boxy new look that's a far cry from its curvy predecessors, the all-new Hyundai Santa Fe has landed in South Africa. While some speak of Land Rover inspiration in the design, it's not quite a 'poor man's Defender', with Hyundai announcing a price tag of R1,249,000 for the single derivative on offer, the Hybrid Elite AWD. This makes the new, and somewhat lavishly appointed, SUV more expensive than the larger Palisade 2.2D, which costs R1,204,500. Yet it's not the most costly Hyundai on offer as the range-topping Staria retails at R1,263,900. The new Santa Fe is Hyundai's first hybrid product to be offered locally, with the drivetrain combining a 132kW 1.6-litre turbopetrol engine with a 44kW electric motor for total system outputs of 175kW and 367Nm. Image: Supplied Although some might miss the diesel option, there is some consolation in the hybrid model's claimed fuel consumption figure of 7.5 litres per 100km. Customers can also adjust the level of regenerative braking. At 4,830mm, the new Santa Fe is 45mm longer than its predecessor, while the wheelbase has grown by 50mm, increasing space for second and third-row occupants. In keeping with its bolder stance, 20-inch alloy wheels are fitted as standard. Interior features include a dual-screen infotainment system with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, Bose sound system, 360-View Monitor, Blind Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist and Lane-Follow Assist. The seats are upholstered in a synthetic leather called H-Tex, with seat heating for the first two rows and ventilation for the front perches. Squared off design theme continues inside. Relatable Rachel? Former wag embraces the real life – in a trusty Toyota Yaris
Rachel Kolisi may have once been behind the wheel of a Land Rover or luxury Mercedes-Benz, but these days, the school run looks a little different – and far more relatable. The mother-of-two, known for her humility and grounded approach to life, has traded in high-end horsepower for the practicality of a Toyota Yaris. And, according to Rachel, she and the little silver Yaris – affectionately named "Betsy" – are getting along just fine. Despite her glamorous past life alongside Springbok captain Siya Kolisi, Rachel has always struck a chord with fans for her girl-next-door charm. These days, she's juggling solo parenting duties in Cape Town's Southern Suburbs, doing the school run daily and managing life with quiet resilience and a sense of humour. In a now-deleted Instagram post, Rachel shared a series of candid photos alongside Betsy, accompanied by a caption that was refreshingly honest. 'Life has a funny way of humbling you just when you think you've got it all figured out,' she wrote. 'One day you're riding high, the next you're asking a friend to borrow their spare car and googling 'how to parallel park a Yaris with dignity."
