Of these, four trains are presently in commercial operation, guided by a team of 10 skilled loco-pilots.
Senior officials confirmed that all loco-pilots underwent a rigorous training programme of at least six months before being engaged in trials and subsequently the commercial run. The training for all loco-pilots is ongoing in Indore. Currently, these pilots primarily manage four key controls: emergency braking, speeding, opening/closing doors, and pressing horns.
Importantly, these controls are also mirrored in the central control room, which maintains close monitoring of every aspect of the Metro's operation, route, train movement, and passenger activity.
Senior officials highlighted that the modern Indore Metro Train is equipped with advanced features, including the capability for driverless operation. However, unlike a section of the Delhi Metro that currently operates autonomously, MPMRCL has no immediate plans to transition to this mode in the near future.
During ongoing 'Joy Ride', a total four trains have been roped in for operation.
The number of loco-pilots will gradually be increased in Indore, which is slated to receive a total of 75 metro coaches, eventually forming 25 trains, each with three coaches.

One arm of flyover on Ganeshkhind Road to be open to public from Wednesday
Following a barrage of criticism over the delay in opening the flyovers on Ganeshkhind Road and Sinhagad Road — with the reason for the delay being that the Chief Minister was unavailable for the inauguration — one lane from Aundh to Shivajinagar of the double-decker flyover at Savitribai Phule Pune University junction will be inaugurated by Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday evening. The flyover on Sinhagad Road will take more time before it is complete. It was expected that both flyovers would be inaugurated on August 15. 'The Ganeshkhind Road flyover has been constructed by Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) as an alternative solution to ease traffic congestion in the area. The flyover will be opened to traffic after the inauguration. Commuting through this area will become more convenient for motorists and citizens,' said Yogesh Mhase, Metropolitan Commissioner of PMRDA. The integrated double-decker flyover was constructed at a cost of Rs 277 crore. To ease traffic congestion and provide adequate road space for traffic, Ganeshkhind Road has been widened up to 45 metres between Pune University and the College of Agriculture. The ramps on the Shivajinagar and Aundh sides are completed, while the remaining ramps on the Baner and Pashan sides are expected to be completed by October 2025, Mhase said. Actual construction of the flyover began in August 2022. The government approved the agreement between the Metro Concessionaire Company and PMRDA in May 2020 for the construction of a double decker flyover to replace the earlier two one-way flyovers, which were demolished in August 2020. The double decker flyover has a Metro rail on top, which is the Maan-Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar Metro Line-3. The total length of the flyover is 1.7 km, while the Aundh to Shivajinagar arm is 1.3 km and is a three lane road with a width of 9.5 metres. For the 23.203 km elevated metro project from Maan-Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar, the construction of a Metro station at University Junction is underway. A proposed Metro skywalk will connect the Metro station to Aundh, Baner and Pashan roads. The Metro rail project on the route is progressing well, with 88.51 per cent of physical work complete to date. The 1,540 metre-long arm of the flyover from Goel Ganga Chowk to Inamdar Chowk on Sinhagad road will need more time before it is opened to the public. In the Sinhagad Road flyover project, a one-way flyover with a length of 520 metres at Rajaram Bridge Chowk and a 2,120-metre long flyover from Vithalwadi to Fun Time Theatre had been opened to the public earlier. 'Most of the work of the flyover arm from Goel Ganga to Inamdar Chowk has been completed. However work on thermoplastic paint, signages, boards and junction improvement for safety purposes are still underway. The Pune Municipal Corporation is working on the city police's suggestions on safety infrastructure at the junctions on roads. Street lights are being installed but this work is getting affected due to the rain. The flyover will be open as soon as the work is completed,' said a PMC official. Opposition Congress and NCP(SP) had criticised the administration for delaying the flyovers' inauguration and ignoring problems of citizens using the road.

Metro gets RDSO certification & heads towards CMRS now
Bhopal: According to officials on Monday, Bhopal metro has now secured official certification from the Research Design and Standards Organization (RDSO), a Railways subsidiary. MPMRCL authorities have confirmed that the Bhopal Metro priority corridor (Subhash Nagar to AIIMS Bhopal, about 7.5 km) has reached a crucial stage of completion. The preparations and paperwork for the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) inspection are being expedited with increased urgency. During Monday's inspection, MPMRCL managing director S Krishna Chaitanya conducted a detailed site assessment. The evaluation covered the segment between AIIMS Metro Station and DRM Office Metro Station, including a thorough review of the Subhash Nagar Depot. The visit focused on examining CMRS-related sites and monitoring the progress of construction activities, officials said.

Bengaluru Metro Phase 3: Wait longer for environment report
Bengaluru: Adding to the frustration among the public, BMRCL clarified Monday that the environmental impact assessment (EIA) for the city's Metro Phase 3, which was set to be completed by Aug, will be further delayed. EIA, which will determine the exact number of trees to be affected during the construction, is crucial for the agency to move ahead with the detailed project report (DPR). "We initially planned to get the report reviewed by Aug but were forced to conduct a second round of public stakeholder meetings due to low turnout previously," a BMRCL official said. This delay will, in turn, affect DPR for the phase. While the initial estimate of trees to be affected was close to 11,000, the figure was later reduced to 6,000. However, an official confirmation on the exact number of trees to be removed will only be made clear in the EIA report. "I asked them where they are planning to replant the axed trees. Planting a few trees in Kolar is not a solution," he said. Metro's Phase 3 is a crucial project to elevate public transport in the city, as the 44km long corridor will provide connectivity to the traffic-congested western part of Outer Ring Road. The fully elevated project has been divided into two corridors. Corridor I will link JP Nagar 4th Phase to Kempapura over 32.1km, while Corridor II will run from Hosahalli to Kadabagere, covering 12.5km.
