Not T20 WC Winners New Zealand! Alyssa Healy Chooses Teams Tough To Beat At ODI WC
Australia skipper Alyssa Healy has previewed the ODI World Cup, naming India as top contenders and acknowledging England.
Australia captain Alyssa Healy has said that while India would be the team to beat at the upcoming ODI World Cup in September, she wouldn't write off England yet, who have quite a few triumphs to their name in the prestigious 50-over competition, where Australia are the defending champions.
Healy spoke to the media at an event in Sydney on Thursday and she revealed that everything was on target for the Australians as they try and become the first team to defend the ODI World Cup title in 37 years.
Tredrea and they will head into this year's tournament in India as one of the favourites to hold aloft the coveted trophy.
'But I think the way that India are playing, at home in those conditions, they are going to be tough to beat," Healy added.
The star Australian wicketkeeper is inching closer to making her comeback from the foot injury she picked up at the 2024 T20 World Cup and is eyeing off Australia A's upcoming series at home against India A as her opportunity to return to competitive action.
Healy has not played for Australia since she featured as a batter in the one-off Test against England at the MCG in February and the most recent time she kept wickets was in an ODI against the same team in January at the start of 2025.
'I haven't kept in a competitive game since January and that's given me a little bit of time to tinker with a few things and make it a little bit easier on my body," Healy said.
'We've been taught how to wicketkeep a certain way in this country for an extended period and at the end of the day, it's not overly efficient on our bodies and doing it at 35, it's not ideal," Healy added.
Australia will begin their campaign against New Zealand on October 1 at the Holkar Stadium in Indore.

‘Virat Kohli is a good singer, dancer & good in mimicry': MS Dhoni calls ex-India captain ultimate entertainment package
Virat Kohli is known to be a complete entertainer on the field. be it his batting or his animated gestures while fielding, its impossible to remove your eyes from the ever-young 36-year-old. Two-time World Cup-winning former Indian captain, MS Dhoni, called Kohli an ultimate entertainment package, not for batting but his skills outside cricket. In a video that went viral on social media, Dhoni was asked to describe Kohli. 'He (Virat Kohli) is a good Singer, dancer, and good in mimicry,' said Dhoni. When the interviewer asked if Kohli can be called as an 'ultimate entertainment package', the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) superstar responded, 'if he is in the mood, he is very very entertaining!' Both Kohli and Dhoni share a great bond both off and on the field, and even after their retirements. It was under Dhoni, that Kohli made his India debut in 2008 and went on to become one of the modern-day greats in world cricket. Currently, Kohli is residing in the United Kingdom with his family. While Kohli has retired from T20Is and Tests, Dhoni announced his international retirement in 2020 but still continues to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Chennai Super Kings. The 42-year-old gave up his CSK captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikwad in IPL 2024. However, Dhoni had to rake charge in IPL 2025 midway into the tournament after Gaikwad was ruled out of the tournament with a hand injury. At the same event, Dhoni was also asked about his future with CSK, considering his age. The five-time IPL-winning former skipper said he is not going anywhere from CSK. 'Me and CSK, we are together. You know even for the next 15-20 years. I hope they don't think I'll be playing for another 15-20 years! But yeah,' said Dhoni amid huge cheers from the crowd. 'It's not about one year or two years. I will always be sitting in a yellow jersey. You know whether I'll be playing or not in a while, but yeah, you know yourself,' he added.

Revealed: What Rohit Sharma Told Yashasvi Jaiswal To Stop Him From Leaving Mumbai For Goa
Yashasvi Jaiswal's initial decision to move from Mumbai to Goa for the upcoming domestic season came as a surprise to many. However, the young batter soon changed his mind and requested the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) to revoke his No Objection Certificate (NOC), expressing his desire to continue representing Mumbai in the 2025–2026 domestic season. It has now come to public light that India's ODI captain Rohit Sharma played a key role in influencing Jaiswal's decision to stay. MCA President Ajinkya Naik confirmed Rohit's involvement, revealing that the senior cricketer reminded Jaiswal of the deep-rooted legacy and pride associated with Mumbai cricket. According to Naik, Rohit made Jaiswal reflect on how Mumbai cricket had been instrumental in shaping his career and offering him a stage to showcase his abilities. Rohit reminded Jaiswal of state's rich legacy and then Jaiswal stayed. The Conversation "Rohit asked Yashasvi to stay on in Mumbai at this stage of his career. He explained to Yashasvi that there was a lot of pride and prestige in playing for a team like Mumbai which has won 42 Ranji titles. Rohit also told Yashasvi that he must not forget that it was Mumbai Cricket that he got a platform to show his talent and must be grateful to the city for that," Naik told the Mumbai Mirror. Rohit Sharma also interacted with Jaiswal during Day 3 of the Oval Test against England, where the youngster went on to score a brilliant century in the second innings. Jaiswal recalled that brief but impactful moment. 'I saw Rohit bhai and I said hi to him. Unhone mujhe yehi message diya ki khelte rehna (He gave me a message to bat on), that was it,' he told reporters after Stumps. Jaiswal further spoke about the influence senior players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have had on his development. He said their guidance and approach to Test cricket helped him improve not just as a player but as a person. 'I keep getting all these messages and playing with the seniors for as long as I have, like Rohit bhai, Virat bhai, helped me grow as a person a lot. Seeing what they have done in Test cricket, how they prepared themselves, it really helped me especially to improve. Also playing with all my mates now, KL (Rahul) bhai the way we chat, (Shubman) Gill bhai, how we think about the game, it's very interesting and I am really enjoying it.' Jaiswal had a stellar series in England, amassing 411 runs, including two centuries, further solidifying his position as one of India's most promising young batters. While Jaiswal is yet to debut in ODI, his performance is tempting for selectors. If reports regarding Rohit Sharma are true then in 2027 World cup the disciple can replace the master.

This Indian Cricketer Has Held The Record For Most Wickets In A Test Series Since 1973
Last Updated: Bhagwat Subramaniam 'Chandra' had a unique bowling action that baffled batsmen. In the 1972-73 series, he took 35 wickets at an average of 19.11, with best figures of 6/38 In the annals of Indian cricket, some records have defied time and generations of players. One such enduring feat is BS Chandrashekhar's remarkable haul of 35 wickets in a single Test series against England in 1972-73, a record that remains untouched even after 52 years. Despite the emergence of world-class spinners and pacers since then, no Indian bowler has managed to surpass this milestone in a Test series. Bhagwat Subramaniam, affectionately known as 'Chandra', had a unique bowling action that consistently troubled opposition batsmen. His remarkable performance in the 1972-73 series saw him taking 35 wickets at an average of 19.11, with his best figures being 6/38. This period marked the dominance of Indian spinners, with Chandrashekhar being supported by renowned bowlers like Bishan Singh Bedi, Prasanna, and Venkataraghavan. While BS Chandrashekhar holds the Indian record for most wickets in a Test series, the world record is held by England's Sydney Barnes, who took 49 wickets in four matches against South Africa in the 1913-14 series. Prior to Chandrashekhar, the Indian record was held by Vinoo Mankad, who took 34 wickets against England in the 1951-52 series. Subhash Gupte later equalled Mankad's record by taking 34 wickets against New Zealand in 1955-56. Several Indian bowlers have come close to Chandrashekhar's record. Kapil Dev took 32 wickets in a six-Test series against Pakistan in 1979-80, while Harbhajan Singh matched this feat in a three-match series against Australia in 2000-01, where he also achieved a hat-trick. More recently, Ravichandran Ashwin took 32 wickets in a series against England in 2020-21, and Jasprit Bumrah replicated this performance against Australia in 2024-25. Ashwin also took 31 wickets in a Test series against South Africa, and Bishan Singh Bedi achieved the same against Australia in 1977-78. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
