Gayle King, Katy Perry And All-Woman Blue Origin Crew Successfully Complete 10-Minute Space Trip
An emotional Oprah Winfrey, with tears in her eyes, watched from the Blue Origin Launch Site One in West Texas as her old friend Gayle King blasted off at 9:30 a.m. ET as part of the rocket's first all-women crew.
King, singer Katy Perry, Aisha Bowe, Amanda Nguyen, Kerianne Flynn and Lauren Sánchez took off and then, 10 minutes later, safely returned to earth.

King, who was said to be very nervous before stepping into the rocket, emerged from the landing capsule with a two-handed wave before dropping to her knees and kissing the earth. The event was covered live coast-to-coast on CBS Mornings.
King and her fellow crew members launched their journey 62 miles above Earth's surface to the Kármán line, the internationally recognized boundary of space. The quick trip was the 11th human flight of Jeff Bezos' New Shepard program.
Prior to liftoff, King told CBS Mornings, 'This is such an unlikely place for me to be, so I've just in my mind said, 'OK.' I feel well prepared for this moment after the training we had…but it still hasn't eased the fear that I have.'
The capsule containing the women returned safely to earth, where it was greeted by invited onlookers including Winfrey.
In addition to King and Perry, the crew included journalist and philanthropist Lauren Sánchez, film producer Kerianne Flynn, former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, and civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen. Bowe is the first Bahamian and Nguyen the first Vietnamese and Southeast Asian woman in space.

The Pitt The Pitt is currently filming as it attempts to start HBO Max's desire to pump out one season per year like the good old days of broadcast TV. It's a very contained location, almost procedural with all its various crises, and it seems like they'll be able to pull it off. Well, if The Pitt season 2 will be out close to a year after season 1, we can search for other new information about what's coming during season 2, and now we've found some. It's been confirmed that four actors are joining the cast: one patient and three medical personnel. If you're concerned that this young crop of newbies may replace the old crop of newbies who are off the ER rotation, that's not true, as it's been confirmed the likes of King, Santos, Whitaker and Javadi are all returning. The same is true for Dr. Langdon, seemingly booted out by Robby, but he is a fixture of season 2 as it will take place during his full first day back in the ER, presumably after some sort of rehab/testing stint. There's really no confirmation about who will not return at this point, which also includes Dana Evans, who seemingly left the ER at the end of the season. The Pitt is about to become a major contender in the Emmys now that nominations are submitted, and many would consider Robby's Noah Wyle to be a frontrunner for Best Actor in a Drama. Clearly, there are a lot of potential nominations in the supporting cast, along with the big category, Best Drama, itself. It's not a big surprise that the show is adding new cast members. Well, it was always going to in terms of a slew of new patients, but on the medical side as well. I do wonder, however, how many new actors could be jammed in without any others being removed, lest the show begin to feel overstuffed. We ❤️ Chuck If the thought of a Stephen King movie makes you want to get up and dance … hoo boy, do I have the flick for you. 'The Life of Chuck,' based on the brilliant King novella, may surprise you if you're used to stuff like 'The Shining' and 'It,' but it's the kind of story that'll lift your spirits rather than scare the stuffing out of you. Along those same lines, a new live-action version of 'How to Train Your Dragon' gives extra dimension to the story of a boy and his adorable scary flying friend. So check out those heartwarming flicks at the cinema but don't forget to stream some TV: Peacock's 'Poker Face' is doing quirky mysteries-of-the-week like a champ these days. Now on to the good stuff: See the best movie of the year (so far), Stephen King adaptation 'The Life of Chuck' Let's face it, y'all. There have been a lot of terrible Stephen King movies – more than you might think, given how talented that guy is. Much of it comes down to the filmmaker, and with 'Life of Chuck,' director Mike Flanagan proves he understands King like no other. 'He's not writing horror even when he is writing horror,' Flanagan told me of how he tackles King as a reader and a filmmaker. 'He's an optimistic humanist and he's writing about love and humanity.' Also check out my video interview with star Tom Hiddleston where he talks about the importance of those 'Chuck' themes. By the way, 'Life of Chuck' is the best movie of the year so far, the story of a life told backward and a soulful exploration of humanity and grand existential questions. (Peep my ★★★★ review.) Soar with the live-action characters of new 'How to Train Your Dragon' While Pixar and Disney take up most of the conversation when it comes to animated movies, one movie outside the Mouse House that has a deep fandom is 'How to Train Your Dragon.' The original 2010 adventure is a spectacular tale of Viking teen Hiccup and his best dragon friend Toothless. I was a little miffed when I heard there was going to be a live-action remake, and even while it still wasn't necessary, I am happy to report that the take feels as vital as the original. (Peep my ★★★½ review.) I also put together a parent's guide for the redo and chatted with director Dean DeBlois and cast members about what's different from the first flick, such as teen appeal and an expanded role for Hiccup's friend Astrid. 'The original wasn't broken, so you can't fix it,' says Mason Thames, who plays the live-action Hiccup. 'All we could do was elevate it.' Stream 'Poker Face,' Natasha Lyonne's starry, standout sleuth show The second season of the Rian Johnson mystery show 'Poker Face' has featured an endless supply line of guest stars, from Cynthia Erivo and John Mulaney to Kumail Nanjiani and John Cho. And Natasha Lyonne, who plays amateur detective Charlie Cale, wears almost as many hats: actress, director, writer and producer. My bud Patrick Ryan visited the set and chatted with Lyonne, who likens her many roles to being a musician and identified with Jughead from the 'Archie' comic books. 'He was a one-man band, but also a friend of the gang,' she says. 'He just kind of hung out and had instruments around." "Poker Face" didn't make TV critic Kelly Lawler's list of the best TV shows so far this year, but some pretty good stuff did like "Andor," "The Pitt" and "Overcompensating" – all of which get the Brian Seal of Approval. Who's returning to 'Spaceballs' sequel? What to know about the movie
Yogurt is coming back to the big screen for a 'Spaceballs' sequel. Oscar winner Mel Brooks will reprise his role as Yogurt in Amazon MGM Studios' new "Spaceballs" movie, reports Deadline. The studio made the announcement on June 12. Brooks, who directed and starred in the original 1987 'Star Wars' and sci-fi genre parody, will also be a producer. Yogurt is an alien who mentored protagonist Lone Starr (Bill Pullman) in the first movie. There's no word on the plot, but entertainment industry publication reports the new movie is described by folks who have yet to read the script as 'A Non-Prequel Non-Reboot Sequel Part Two but with Reboot Elements Franchise Expansion Film.' Brooks isn't the only "Spaceballs" cast member returning for the sequel. Bill Pullman and Rick Moranis, reprising their respective roles as Lone Starr and Dark Helmet, will star alongside the previously announced Josh Gad, according to Deadline. Meanwhile, Keke Palmer ('One of Them Days') has joined the cast. The original movie also starred John Candy and Daphne Zuniga. The sequel will be released in theaters in 2027. Josh Greenbaum will direct. Scriptwriters are Gad, Benji Samit and Dan Hernandez. Other producers are Gad with Imagine Entertainment's Brian Grazer and Jeb Brody, Brooks and Greenbaum. Samit, Hernandez, Kevin Salter and Adam Merims will executive produce.
