SDM Kharar inspects progress of playground development projects
The sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) of Kharar, Divya P visited several villages in the Kharar subdivision on Friday to inspect the newly constructed as well as the progress of ongoing playground development works.
This initiative is part of a larger government directive under the MGNREGA scheme, aimed at ensuring that every village in the district has access to a well-maintained playground, said SDM Divya. She added that a total of 95 villages are currently part of this project, with work either completed or in progress.
She further said that as per the state directive, all designated playgrounds are to be physically inspected by government officers between May 19 and May 23, 2025, with detailed reports to be submitted thereafter.
SDM's visit marks a significant step in the monitoring process, reinforcing the administration's commitment to timely execution and quality standards.
During the inspection, the SDM emphasised the importance of recreational spaces for children and youth, and assured that any lapses in quality or delays in construction would be addressed promptly.
The administration remains dedicated to ensuring that these facilities are completed to standard, enabling access to safe and inclusive spaces for sports and outdoor activities in rural areas, she further added.

Kanpur: District magistrate Kanpur Nagar, Jitendra Pratap Singh, on Wednesday took the negative feedback in Integrated Grievance Redressal System (IGRS) complaints and said that he would not tolerate carelessness in disposal of public complaints. In a review meeting held at the collectorate auditorium, Singh said that quality disposal of IGRS (Integrated Grievance Redressal System) references was the top priority of the government. The DM stated that in the evaluation report submitted by the government on June 3, the percentage of negative feedback received in relation to the references resolved by various departments was found to be of great concern. Notably, in some departments this negative feedback has been recorded as high as 83 per cent, which reflects serious laxity in departmental functioning and blatant disregard for citizens' expectations. Terming this situation as extremely regrettable Singh said that it was indicative of clear indifference in discharging duty. He said this shows that the complaints have not been resolved seriously and in a qualitative manner by the officers/employees concerned or their supervisory responsibilities have not been discharged efficiently. As a result of this serious lapse, the ranking of the district has been adversely affected, which has also caused a serious blow to the administrative image of the district. MYSURU: Nearly 4,000 contractual staff with the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee (MGNREGA) scheme have not been paid for the last five to seven months. Though the staff, who are responsible for creating employment in rural areas under the programme, have approached top officials and appealed for the payment of pending salaries, nothing has been done. The staff that have not been paid include engineers, Information, Education and Communication (IEC) workers and field staff. With no sign of salaries, they have resorted to a protest and applied for mass casual leave, boycotting work. They have also staged demonstrations in front of zilla panchayat offices across the state. The tragic story is the same even in Mysuru, the home district of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. These coordinators are crucial in ensuring that the rural folk get 100 days of employment per year under the scheme. Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Priyank Kharge has written to Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for urgent intervention for the immediate release of pending wages, material and administrative funds to ensure livelihoods of lakhs of scheme beneficiaries and maintenance of administrative efficiency.
