RedOctane relaunches and will continue to make new rhythm games
RedOctane Games is back and ready to make more rhythm games. The studio announced its re-launch today and said it is already in production on its first title. Charles and Kai Huang, who co-founded the original RedOctane back in 1999 and launched the Guitar Hero franchise, will serve on a special advisory board for the new company. The first RedOctane was acquired by Activision in 2006 and shuttered in 2010. The team is small, but it has some heavy-hitters from the rhythm game world. Its head of studio is Simon Ebejer, who was the production director for multiple Guitar Hero games, and many of its employees worked on Guitar Hero and DJ Hero . RedOctane will operate within parent company Embracer Freemode, which also houses CRKD, a gaming accessory company that also has history in rhythm games . There are some interesting competitors to this revived RedOctane on the market, such as Clone Hero and Fortnight Festival , not to mention legions of arcade titles. It should be exciting to see what new ideas RedOctane will bring to the party.

Here's The Exact Time ‘Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6' And Warzone Season 5 Starts And What To Expect
A whole bunch of new content is about to land in Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone. This includes new multiplayer maps and modes, new Zombies content and one very big change to the battle royale map, Verdansk. There's also a new Battle Pass and BlackCell Battle Pass, new weapons and more. Here's everything you need to know about Call Of Duty Season 5. Season 5 releases August 7th at 9 am PT / 12 pm ET across all platforms. Most of the season's new content will be available at launch or close to the beginning of the season, while more maps and modes will become available at the mid-season update (in about five weeks). Multiplayer Season 5 Update Several new maps are releasing in Season 5, including three launch maps available at the start of the season: Runway (6v6, Medium-Sized) A medium-sized map that takes place at Arzak Provincial Airport, Runway has both interior and exterior zones with plenty of options for close-quarters engagements. Exchange (2v2, 6v6 Small-Sized) FEATURED | Frase ByForbes™ Unscramble The Anagram To Reveal The Phrase Pinpoint By Linkedin Guess The Category Queens By Linkedin Crown Each Region Crossclimb By Linkedin Unlock A Trivia Ladder This Strike map takes place in the Avalon marketplace. The symmetrical, three-lane map is centered around a Deli. The map will be available in both Faceoff and Gunfight modes. W.M.D. (6v6 Medium-Sized) W.M.D. was first introduced in the original Black Ops game. It's reimagined here as a luxury Italian car manufacturer in Avalon. The snow from the original map is gone. Now clouds hang above the Autofiorno plant, though the layout should be familiar to long-time fans of the Black Ops franchise. I think it's worth noting that both the last two maps take place in Avalon, the location for the much-rumored upcoming Warzone big map. Is this an indication that Avalon will make its debut alongside Black Ops 7 at the end of the year? As much as I do enjoy Verdansk, I'm ready for another new Warzone map. The mid-season update will include one more map: Jackpot is inspired by the Black Ops 4 map 'Casino' and takes place in the Casino Luttazzi. It combines elements of that map with the High Rollers mission from the Black Ops 6 campaign, reworking both the layout and the aesthetic of the original map. New modes and playlists coming to Season 5 include: Multiplayer is also getting the new Combat Bow Scorestreak. It fires single-shot, explosive-tipped arrows that deal incendiary damage. Other updates to multiplayer include a new season of Ranked Mode with all-new rewards including weapon camos and a Jackal PDW SMG blueprint, calling cards, decals and more. Zombies Season 5 Update The Reckoning Zombies map lands at launch for Season 5, with a guided mode releasing at the mid-season update. The new map takes place in crumbling towers near Liberty Falls. The new Elite Enemy, Uber Klaus, joins the fray. The giant mecha-zombie should provide a tough new challenge for players. Uber Klaus is joined by other smaller robots (Kommando Klaus) that appear after mysterious red mist descends on players. Players will also be able to get their hands on the new Wonder Weapon Gorgofex that combines fungal, floral and insectile traits that deal damage and gravity-defying disruption. Grief Mode comes to Reckoning in-season. Two teams of 4 face off against one another and the zombies. This type of PvPvE content is exactly what brings me to modes like Zombies. I'm not a huge co-op gamer, but once you add in a competitive element I'm all-in. A Cranked mode also comes to Zombies in-season as well as plenty of other content. Warzone Season 5 Update Something big is happening in Verdansk. The Stadium POI has opened up, allowing players to once again access the interior and field. Only now . . . it sounds like a superweapon might be buried beneath. According to the Call Of Duty blog, 'The extent of the threat remains unclear, though a weapon capable of large-scale destruction is expected to be unearthed within the vicinity.' Could this be a hint that Verdansk is about to be destroyed to pave the way for the new Avalon map? That seems increasingly likely. A number of big changes and additions and modes are coming to Warzone in Season 5: New Contract – Satellite Hijack (In-Season, Week One) This is a special multi-stage contract that can only be accessed via the Stadium. This means it's going to be insanely hot. While info on what can be obtained by completing the contract is redacted, we know that it's a permanent unlock in your Gunsmith – either a weapon or weapon attachment of some sort. Stadium Resurgence LTM – 36 players (In-Season, Week Two) As you can see in this image, the Stadium is open but not all the way. A big hole has been blown in the roof, rather than the fully opened Stadium from the days of Verdansk past. The special LTM brings Resurgence to just this POI, which should make for fast and intense matches. There are a total of 7 circles. Deadline LTM (Mid-Season) This is a fun twist on the battle royale mode. Basically, players respawn just like Resurgence mode. As long as one of your teammates is alive, you'll come back. The twist? At the end of each circle, the team with the lowest point total is eliminated. You can earn points by getting eliminations, completing contracts, looting supplies and spending cash at Buy Stations. Points are reset completely with each new circle, so you'll never be able to rely on early gains. This mode includes both real human players and AI Bots. Ranked Battle Royale and Resurgence (Launch Window) Ranked is back for Season 5 on both Verdanks and Rebirth Island. New rewards including stickers, camos, Blueprints and more are available as you climb the ranks from Bronze to Top 250 (or get stuck at Platinum or Diamond like me). Solos Update Both Solos and Casual Solos will be available starting in Season 5 as well, along with Casual Quads and Casual Resurgence Quads. Normal Solos, however, will only be available in North America and Europe. New Weapons And Updates Across Multiplayer And Warzone Several new weapons are coming to MP and Warzone, all of which are free and unlocked either in the Battle Pass as free unlock tiers or through events. PML 5.56 LMG (Launch) A full-auto light machine gun with a fast rate of fire and high lethality offset by low mobility and hefty recoil. Apparently this LMG has a higher damage rate than most in its class, more comparable to ARs, but with slow reload and lots of recoil. This is unlocked in the Battle Pass. ABR A1 Assault Rifle (Launch) Three-round burst assault rifle. Good handling and power. Moderate recoil and range. Configurable to full auto. We haven't had any burst-fire ARs in Black Ops 6, oddly enough, though we've had full-auto and single-fire, as well as burst-fire Marksman Rifles. The ABR A1 is a new name for a classic Call of Duty AR, previously known as the AUG. This is also a Battle Pass unlock. Boxing Gloves Melee (In-Season) Boxing gloves do moderate damage but they're very fast and have more range than some melee weapons. You can unleash a furry of light blows or land a heavy attack. These are unlocked via an event in-season. Gravemark .357 Revolver (Mid-Season) Single-action revolver. High power and considerable range, limited by lower ammo count and segmented reload. It's frankly bizarre that this is the first Revolver we've had in the Secondary Weapon class in Black Ops 6 so far. I guess better late than never. The Gravemark .357 (cool name, I must admit) will finally allow me to play Custom Matches with only cowboy weapons (this and the Essex lever action rifle). New Weapon Attachments 9mm PM Skull Splitter – This barrel turns your 9mm pistol into a mini Marksman Rifle. Greatly increases damage, especially headshot damage, while reducing rate of fire. A new extended mag can add more ammunition to the gun at the expense of handling. PPSH-41 Hellcal Magazine – Replace the drum magazine on your PPSH-1 with this high-capacity mag, though you'll have to manage heat. Designed for close and medium range spray-and-pray combat. Everything Else New Events Several new Events are coming to Season 5 as well, including '90s Action Heroes (where you'll earn the Boxing Gloves), Hell Ride (where you'll unlock the Gravemark .357), Atomic Block Party (a Nuketown-inspired event) and The Reckoning Leaderboard Event in Zombies mode. Battle Pass Normal and BlackCell variants of the Season 5 Battle Pass will be available. New Operators include Sims, the special BlackCell Operator Solace, and skins for other Operators. The Battle Pass will include 100 tiers of cosmetic unlocks including weapon skins, charms, XP tokens and more. There's also another Replacer bundle headed to the in-game store along with an I Know What You Did Last Summer bundle. This is a good reminder that Call Of Duty continues to lean heavily into goofy skins, something that EA is hoping to avoid with Battlefield 6. Speaking of Battlefield 6, the game's Open Beta begins this weekend. The Early Access portion of the beta launches around the same time as Season 5 of Call Of Duty. Read all about the beta and how to get in early right here.

It Happened In "Red Dead Redemption 2"...A Better Late Than Never Review
I have owned a PlayStation 4 since my PlayStation 3 stopped working. This was quite a tragedy for me, as the PlayStation 3 had the advantage of being able to play both PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 games. You can imagine my disappointment when I discovered that the fourth iteration of the console did not offer backward compatibility. How rude! However, the PlayStation 4 did provide some fantastic titles, many of which were exclusive to the system. So, just like when I purchased the PlayStation 3, I selected a number of game titles to enjoy on my new console. Red Dead Redemption 2 That was over six years ago, and the PlayStation 5 has been out for most of that time. What can I say…I'm slow to adapt. But one of those titles I purchased for the PS4 was Red Dead Redemption 2. I had heard great things about the Rockstar game, and it sounded like exactly what I would enjoy—riding horses, robbing trains, banks, and riverboats. What's not to like? The problem was that, like with the other titles I bought, I never found the time to play them. Life tends to get in the way, especially when you're over 60 years old. That is, until around June of this year, when I finally decided to give Red Dead Redemption 2 a try . Man…what took me so long? 'Kill Them that Needs Killing!' It is appropriate that it is made by Rock Star Games because Red Dead Redemption 2 ROCKS! A great background story that, by the time it is all said and done, (depending on your game choices) touches the heart. But that is just the tip of the iceberg. The game environment is so wide-open and chock-full of opportunities to try different things, make some bad or good choices, and either kill or be killed. For the most part, I proceeded under the mantra that Arthur Morgan followed: 'Kill them that needs killing.' The Lemoyne Raiders The Skinner Brothers The Murfree Brood I won't deny that I indulged in a bit of vengeance now and then, especially when it came to the Lemoyne Raiders, the Skinner Brothers, or the Murfree Brood. Those irritating pests multiplied like cockroaches—no matter how many you took out, there were always more. That was fine by me. I had a bullet, an arrow, or a knife ready for each of them. And if all else failed, I'd trample them with my horse, turning them into a western-style speed bump. My Kingdom for a Horse When it comes to horses, it's hard not to develop a bond with your noble steed. It can be quite painful when your faithful companion meets an untimely demise, whether due to an enemy's actions or, in some instances, your own carelessness. Lesson: 'Never play the game when you are getting sleepy.' Right over the cliff. Opps…Sorry Buddy! Hopefully, you've acquired some Horse Revival tonic to bring your horse back from the brink of death. If not, you can always capture and tame a new horse, provided you have the necessary skills. I was pretty adept at this with Arthur, while John has struggled with it almost as much as he struggles to swim. (A word of advice: if a task requires swimming, it's better to use Arthur. John swims like a boulder, sinking straight down.) With Red Dead Redemption 2 , it's important to note that the game's main storyline is influenced by your actions, which can lead to a high honor or low honor status. The choice is ultimately yours. However, it can sometimes be unclear what the game interprets as high or low honor. For example, during the epilogue, I chose to fulfill a request from Uncle, one of the gang members, to gather ingredients for an ant-itch salve. The last ingredient was a skunk carcass. So I was hanging around in a wooded area to bring down the ferocious purveyor of bad odor. But, before I stumbled onto one, it got dark so I decided to camp for the night. However, before I could decide to make some vittles or get some sleep, here came two Skinner Brothers who immediately shot at me. Remembering our motto, 'Kill them that needs killing,' I shot them both. The game decided that my actions were low honor. What did it expect me to do? Invite them into camp for 'some delicious Smores?' As I told my mother many times when I was a kid and a fight was involved…'They Started IT!' There are so many things I can say about this big, beautiful game, but I want to comment on a few scenarios that I found interesting, infuriating, and even sometimes funny. Wanted for Murder I was in the epilogue as John, working toward catching all the 'Legendary Fish.' As I reached my next destination, I encountered two riders racing in the opposite direction like bats out of hell. Naturally, I couldn't quite get out of the way, and we crashed into each other. Once I picked myself off the ground, I saw what the issue was. A mountain lion had been chasing them, and now it had its sights on me. Nothing a Cattlemen's Revolver couldn't handle. Especially when you empty the chamber into the cat, but here's where the weird thing happened. Above John's head was the blurb, 'Wanted for Murder: John Marston.' MURDER??? It was not in an area that designated him as a wanted man. And, it was an accident! We BOTH crashed to the ground. Why one of the other riders died, I had no idea. But MURDER??!! The only thing that might have made THAT claim was the Mountain Lion. Needless to say, I jumped on my horse and ran. In a world that could claim murder in THAT situation, I wasn't taking a chance with the local justice system. Better to run off and pay off the $15 Bounty later. Although this was not the last time a Mountain Lion proved to be problematic. Damn Mountain Lion I am still on my Legendary Fish search. On my journey, I found a deserted cabin. Exploring the inside of the cabin, I found a bed just calling my name. I take advantage of the opportunity and get in some well-needed shut-eye. I wake up with a gleam in my eye and the hope of more Legendary Fish. Only to step outside the cabin and immediately, a loud growl, and I am under a snarling mass of bad intentions with a grip on my neck…DEAD! It was the ONLY time I was legitimately startled because I didn't expect it at all. Damn you, Mountain Lion! But that's not all… I Just Want to Sell My Legendary Animal If you want to almost to guarantee a visit from either the aforementioned villainous groups, a pack of wolves, or that accursed bad-tempered kitty, try to bring your freshly captured Legendary trophy to the trapper. On numerous journeys, I was assaulted by either the Raiders, the Skinner Brothers, or the Murfree Brood, followed by a pack of wolves. While my first instinct is to stand my ground and fight, I know that if I am killed, that trophy disappears. So, once again, I get on my 'high horse' and run like hell. Only to get close to the trapper and run once again into that damned cat. Again, it killed me before I could fight it off. I HATE those things! No Tail-Gating If there's one thing that's common in RDR2, it's the ill-tempered cowboys you encounter when you're going in the same direction they are. Especially if they feel you're 'following too closely.' They usually warn you that they don't want your company or might ask, 'What's wrong with you?' But sometimes, they escalate and try to pick a fight. The idea that you might just be heading the same way doesn't seem to occur to them. One time in Saint Denis, an aggressive cowboy took it to the extreme. He followed me and opened fire, killing my horse. To avoid getting on the law's radar, I decided to just beat him down instead of shooting back. Apparently, the Saint Denis police is okay with fisticuffs. But then again, the law in Saint Denis can be quite blind. Turning a Blind Eye In a previous visit to that burgeoning city of Saint Denis, I had a minor issue with my firearm and accidentally shot a wall in the city proper. No harm no foul…the wall probably deserved it. A patrolman came over, and I professed my innocence, claiming a late night as a possible excuse. I was given a warning and told to leave town. FINE! I don't like Saint Denis anyway. The place is RIFE with vampires and ill-tempered citizens. (Okay, only ONE vampire, and you have to complete the mission to find him) So I left the city only to return later for that aforementioned vampire search. As I wandered the city streets, a poor, unfortunate woman was lying dead on the street, an apparent victim of a 'hit and ride.' As I walked past the poor victim, a policeman saw me and exclaimed that 'he couldn't believe I had come back and he was keeping an eye on me.' Apparently, his 'eye' didn't include the poor woman's demise as he (and every other patrolman) ignored her while bystanders gaped. They might want to rethink their hiring practices for Saint Denis law enforcement. In a Cloud of Dust… The game is expansive and a lot of fun. Even after finishing the main story, I'm still discovering new activities to engage in. I've been bounty hunting, identifying new plants and animals, locating rock carvings and dinosaur bones, and trying to complete the Kessel Run in 12 parsecs. Well, actually, you're challenged to race your horse between various locations within a set time, aiming to finish 'in a cloud of dust.' For instance, you need to get from Valentine to Rhodes in less than 5 minutes, or from Strawberry to Saint Denis in under 9 minutes without touching the water. There's also a challenge to race from Van Horn to Blackwater in less than 17 minutes, again without touching water. Are you up for the challenge? I guess we'll find out soon! If you have the opportunity, you need to try this great game. No matter that it has a bit of years on it now. Red Dead Redemption 2 still holds up well. You will not be disappointed.
