'I cut off my famous daughter after my son died - I want her to know I'm sorry'

Martine McCutcheon and her mother, Jenny Tomlin, were once inseparable, but a sudden family death led to a heartbreaking fallout. Now, a distraught Jenny yearns for reconciliation. "There was nothing she didn't include me in," shares Jenny. "We did all the wonderful stuff – the premiere of Love Actually, the restaurants – but the memories I cherish are of us just sitting on my bed, bringing up old memories and laughing. I miss that." Their bond began to crumble following the tragic passing of Martine's brother Laurence John – affectionately known as LJ – in 2022, at the tender age of 31. Jenny admits she experienced an emotional breakdown and pushed Martine away. In an exclusive interview with OK!, Jenny, 69, expresses her desire to apologise to Martine, 49, for distancing herself, reports the Mirror. "When I lost LJ, I detached. I was so heartbroken I couldn't talk to Martine," she confesses. "There was no big row – Martine tried to contact me for months, but I didn't answer. Martine was grieving and needed me, too. I want the chance to say sorry. I miss her so much – it physically hurts." Martine mcCutcheon and mum Jenny at Martine's 30th birthday party. (Image: Getty Images) Martine McCutcheon in garden on a picnic blanket in garden with her late brother AJ (Image: martinemccutcheon/Instagram) Jenny and Martine did have a brief encounter last October, but it wasn't the reunion Jenny had hoped for. "Martine texted me out of the blue," recalls Jenny. "She'd moved into a new home and wondered if my husband Alan could do some painting. "We jumped at the chance and went over, but we didn't talk in depth. It was awkward and the atmosphere felt heavy. There had been tentative discussions about festive arrangements, though nothing concrete was settled." Jenny reveals this marked the beginning of a prolonged period of silence. Drawing parallels with another celebrity family drama that's captured public attention, Jenny reflects: "I understand the pain Victoria Beckham is going through over her estrangement from Brooklyn. He was her firstborn, too. "It's a heartbreaking situation for anybody who is estranged or has lost their child." When speaking about the devastating loss of LJ, Jenny's voice becomes fragile with emotion. "It's not the natural order to lose a child." Jenny acknowledges that her actions "broke" Martine's heart. "Eventually, I did pull myself out of that dark hole, but maybe it was too late," she admits. Describing the tragic day LJ passed away, Jenny recounts receiving a devastating call from his fiancée, informing her that he had collapsed and couldn't be resuscitated. Still dressed in her nightwear, Jenny made the frantic hour-and-a-half journey from her Aylesbury home in Buckinghamshire to LJ's residence near the Essex coastline – but she arrived too late. "My precious boy was on the floor, wrapped up. I remember saying, 'It's OK to open your eyes now, son, I'm here'," she recalls through tears. "They'd worked hard doing CPR on him, but couldn't bring him back. It was like a nightmare. I couldn't believe my boy was gone." An autopsy revealed that LJ – who was a non-smoker and teetotaller – had passed away from acute ischaemic heart disease and diabetes. Jenny phoned Martine from the scene, but was so overwhelmed with grief that her daughter had to talk to the paramedics to understand what had occurred. Later, Jenny drove to Martine's place. "She looked at me and realised I needed looking after," Jenny recounts. "She'd prepared the spare room, stroked my hair, gave me a cuddle and, somehow, I slept." LJ was laid to rest on October 31, 2022. Afterwards, Jenny describes her life as having plunged "down a deep, dark pit". She admits, "I was seen by a mental health team and given anti-anxiety meds." Martine McCutcheon and mum (Image: Getty Images) Jenny Tomlin in her garden (Image: David Cummings) Martine, known for her role as Tiffany Mitchell in EastEnders between 1994 and 1998, was just 15 when LJ was born, and Jenny remembers how she took on a motherly role towards him. Since LJ's passing, Jenny has been crippled by anxiety, which she believes is why she hasn't seen her daughter or her 10 year old grandson, Rafferty, for such a long time. "I didn't contact Martine," she confesses. "I abandoned her. I was so consumed by my own sorrow that I neglected my other child. That was the beginning, and things just... snowballed. And here we are." Jenny, an author of both novels and memoirs, including Behind Closed Doors which details the abuse she endured as a child, mentions she's tried reaching out to Martine recently – through calls, texts, and sending cards – but alleges she's received no reply. Just a few weeks back, after an epiphany, Jenny and Alan took the hour and a half drive to Martine's place in Surrey. "I was banging on the door shouting her name," she confesses. "But nobody answered. So I gave up, got in the car and drove home distraught. I turned to Alan and said, 'I don't think she'll ever speak to me again'. "That's why I've done this interview as a plea for Martine to get in touch." Recently, Jenny has been feeling more like her old self and has even begun penning a memoir about LJ. Yet, the remorse over her relationship with Martine lingers. "I let Martine down. There's not a day goes by when I don't think of her. "Losing Rafferty has felt like another death," she reveals. Her affection for Rafferty has spurred her to start writing children's stories, which she intends to dedicate to him. When Martine's 18-year romance with musician Jack McManus ended last year, Jenny and Martine were estranged. It's a topic Jenny refuses to comment on. "That's between Martine and Jack," she states. "I don't think I'll ever stop trying when it comes to my girl. If I could speak to Martine, I'd tell her how sorry I am. I've lost one child, I don't want to lose another." As Jenny approaches her 70th birthday next year, her ultimate wish is to have a cup of tea with her daughter while watching her grandson play outside. "I've seen what silence does to families," she remarks. "I don't want that for us. I don't want to be another story of regret. I want us to love each other. To find our way back." Ozzy Osbourne documentary 'to show star's final months' before tragic death

The Osbourne family is known for paving the way for reality TV, and it's now been revealed that a new documentary was being filmed during Ozzy Osbourne's final months. The Black Sabbath frontman passed away on Tuesday morning at the age of 76, surrounded by his loved ones. His wife Sharon and four children released a joint statement, saying: "It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. "He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis." In a resurfaced interview, Ozzy's son Jack revealed that his father's final moments were captured on camera for a 10-part BBC documentary series called Home To Roost. The series was initially intended to follow Ozzy and Sharon as they returned to their Buckinghamshire home after 20 years in the US. However, it's now being reworked as a tribute to the rock star, reports the Mirror. Ozzy Osbourne in 2022 (Image:) According to Jack, the documentary will focus on Ozzy's time with Black Sabbath and the early 1980s. "Right now it'll take place over the Sabbath era and early 1980s. We're definitely going for a more adult rating for the film," he told the Mail's Weekend Magazine. "This is by no means going to be a fluff piece." Jack co-produced the biopic, which promises to showcase the chaos and mayhem that Ozzy was known for, as well as the love story between Ozzy and Sharon, which began in the 1970s. Ozzy Osbourne's youngest son, Jack, revealed that his late father was working on an autobiography titled "Last Rites" before his passing. The book is slated for release this autumn. In the weeks leading up to his death, Ozzy took to the stage one final time in his hometown of Birmingham, joining forces with his Black Sabbath bandmates at Villa Park. This farewell performance marked the culmination of a day-long celebration of Ozzy's five decades in the music industry, bringing together some of the industry's biggest names to pay tribute. Black Sabbath's co-founder Tony Iommi shared his thoughts on BBC Radio 4's Today programme, reminiscing: "He loved what he did, he loved music, he loved playing together, and I'm so glad we had the opportunity of getting together again to do the [farewell] show." Iommi fondly recalled the experience, adding: "It was brilliant being with all the guys again, and the atmosphere, and it was brilliant for Ozzy because he really wanted to do that, he felt at home there and it was good for all of us." Hulk Hogan dead: WWE legend dies aged 71 as Ric Flair leads tributes

Hulk Hogan has passed away at the age of 71, with the WWE legend reportedly suffering a cardiac arrest as tributes flood in for the icon who has been celebrated as "one of pop culture's most recognisable figures." It's been reported that paramedics were summoned to Hulk's residence in Clearwater, Florida in the early hours of Thursday morning. Hogan served as the headline attraction for the inaugural WrestleMania in 1985 and remained a mainstay for years in the company's flagship event, taking on everyone from Andre The Giant and Randy Savage to The Rock. He also battled company chairman Vince McMahon. He secured six WWE championships during his career and was enshrined in the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005 by Sylvester Stallone, reports the Mirror. A statement from the organisation read: "WWE is saddened to learn WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan has passed away. One of pop culture's most recognizable figures, Hogan helped WWE achieve global recognition in the 1980s. WWE extends its condolences to Hogan's family, friends, and fans." Ex-WWE owner and supremo Vince McMahon said: "The world lost a treasure today. Hulk Hogan was the greatest WWE Superstar of ALL TIME, someone who was loved and admired around the world. He was a trailblazer, the first performer who transitioned from being a wrestling star into a global phenomenon. "His grit and unbridled thirst for success were unparalleled - and made him the consummate performer. He gave everything he had to the audience whom he appreciated, respected and loved. "He leaves us with one of his favorite expressions, "Train, take your vitamins and say your prayers." Today, we pray for him." Ric Flair who, like Hogan, was a champion of the sport, paid his respects as he said: "I Am Absolutely Shocked To Hear About The Passing Of My Close Friend @HulkHogan! "Hulk Has Been By My Side Since We Started In The Wrestling Business. An Incredible Athlete, Talent, Friend, And Father! Our Friendship Has Meant The World To Me. He Was Always There For Me Even When I Didn't Ask For Him To Be. "He Was One Of The First To Visit Me When I Was In The Hospital With A 2% Chance Of Living, And He Prayed By My Bedside. Hulk Also Lent Me Money When Reid Was Sick. Hulkster, No One Will Ever Compare To You! Rest In Peace My Friend!" One of the sport's best known figures, The Undertaker, said: "The wrestling world has lost a true legend. His contributions to our business are immeasurable, and for that, I am appreciative. Thank you, Hulk Hogan." Fellow legend Kurt Angle added: "R.I.P Hulkster, thank you for opening up doors for so many people in the business including myself. There would not be a Kurt Angle, without the American Made, Hulk Hogan. My heart and prayers go out to his family. We lost a real icon today." Hogan's stature saw him become a celebrity outside the wrestling world, appearing in numerous movies and television shows, including a reality show about his life on VH1, "Hogan Knows Best". Former wrestler Brutus Beefcake said: "Through the good times and the bad, I always loved my brother Terry! I am devastated by the loss of my friend, I only wish we had time to mend our broken friendship before his passing. Until I see you Brother, in the big squared circle in the sky! I love you".
