Wolves makes Jorgen Strand Larsen's move permanent after an impressive loan season
The Wolves said on Tuesday Strand Larson who came on loan from from Spanish La Liga side Celta Vigo last year has a deal until 2029 after 'the striker achieved certain clauses in his contract which automatically turned his loan permanent.'
The 25-year-old scored 14 goals in 35 games for the Wolves in the Premier League last season, becoming the record scorer in his debut season for the club in the top flight, beating Raul Jimenez's 13 goals in the 2018-19 season.
'It's been a good first season in the Premier League,' Strand Larsen said. 'I'm proud of what I've done.'
In June, the Wolves signed another player from Celta Vigo, attacking midfielder Fer Lopez, on a five-year contract.

Hegerberg leads Norway to opening 2-1 win over host nation Switzerland at Euro 2025
BASEL, Switzerland (AP) — Norway star Ada Hegerberg led her team to a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over host nation Switzerland despite missing a penalty in their opening game at the Women's European Championship on Wednesday. The home team dominated the first half and went ahead in the 28th minute when Nadine Riesen capitalized on some pinball-machine Norwegian defending to score in off the left post. Hegerberg equalized against the run of play with a header to Vilde Bøe Risa's corner in the 54th, four minutes before Switzerland's Julia Stierli scored an own goal trying to stop Caroline Graham Hansen's cross for Hegerberg. But Hegerberg – the all-time Women's Champions League top-scorer – sent her penalty to the left of the post in the 70th after Géraldine Reuteler was penalized for hand ball while trying to defend against the Lyon star. Reuteler had sent the ball crashing off the crossbar for the dominant Swiss in the first half. Switzerland was awarded a penalty after Hegerberg's miss only to have the decision overturned after a VAR review for an offside call. The game — the second of the tournament after Finland's 1-0 win over Iceland — was preceded by the Euro 2025 opening ceremony. Dancers used long silver tubes in a carefully choreographed performance that paid tribute to Switzerland's clock-making heritage and Alpine landscape. UEFA said the modest ceremony celebrated 'the pinnacle of European team spirit' while emphasizing 'diversity, unity and the triumph of women's football on its greatest stage.' ___ AP soccer:

Raducanu shows glimpses of best form in beating former Wimbledon champion Vondrousova
Associated Press LONDON (AP) — Emma Raducanu played some of her best tennis since her U.S. Open title in 2021 to sweep aside former Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova 6-3, 6-3 on Wednesday to reach the third round. She may have to up her level even further in the next match, though: the British home favorite will be up against No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka. 'Yeah, I guess there's no pressure at all on me the next round,' Raducanu said, laughing. There's always pressure on Raducanu playing at Wimbledon, especially after she became the first British woman since 1977 to capture a Grand Slam title when she won at Flushing Meadows as a qualifier four years ago. She struggled with injuries and form after that, and her fourth-round showing at Wimbledon last year is her best result in a major since. But her win against Vondrousova, the 2023 Wimbledon champion and 2019 French Open runner-up, showed Raducanu might be back to her best. "She was playing amazing tennis," Vondrousova said. 'She was crushing me in the rallies, so there wasn't much I could do.' Raducanu seemed pretty impressed with her own performance as well. 'I think today I played really, really well,' she said. 'I mean, there were some points that I have no idea how I turned around. ... I knew today I had to be aggressive because Marketa would beat me if I was going to push the ball around.' ___ More AP tennis: in this topic

Dallas Mavericks sign No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg to rookie contract
DALLAS (AP) — The Dallas Mavericks have signed No. 1 overall draft pick Cooper Flagg to his four-year rookie contract. The team didn't disclose details in announcing the deal Wednesday. The total value of the contract for the top pick on the 2025-26 rookie wage scale is in the range of $62.7 million, with a first-year salary of about $13.8 million, according to Spotrac. Those numbers can fluctuate slightly. There are team options in the third and fourth seasons of rookie deals. Flagg said during his introductory news conference last week that he intends to play in the Summer League in Las Vegas later this month. The Mavericks' Summer League opener against the Los Angeles Lakers and Bronny James is set to be nationally televised on July 10. Flagg was taken with the top pick after Dallas converted just a 1.8% chance to win the draft lottery. The 18-year-old from Duke became the fourth freshman to win The Associated Press national player of the year honors in the 64-year history of the award. Flagg led the Blue Devils to the Final Four in his only season. The 6-foot-9 forward joins a frontcourt that should include 10-time All-Star Anthony Davis and promising young center Dereck Lively II, Flagg's fellow Duke alum. The Mavs shocked the NBA by sending 25-year-old superstar Luka Doncic to the Lakers for Davis in February. Dallas guard Kyrie Irving is another former Duke player to go first overall in the draft, in 2011. He will be out, probably until at least midseason, while recovering from a torn ACL. Irving was injured in March. ___
