Telangana government partners with NGOs to offer NEET, JEE coaching in schools
The decision to seek the help of noted organisations was taken in line with the Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's idea of improving educational standards in the state. The state government strongly believes that partnering with India's renowned organisations will bring a revolutionary change in the education sector in the country.The EkStep Foundation, run by Nandan Nilekani, is already working in 540 schools with an artificial intelligence-based platform. Now, the organisation will offer services in more than 5,000 primary schools in 33 districts. The organisation provides Telugu and English languages as well as Maths basics from class 3 to 5th standard.Physics Wallah will provide coaching to Inter students for NEET, JEE and CLAT exams. It also provides free training to students from the school level for competitive exams.advertisementKhan Academy will offer video-based STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) training in accordance with the curriculum to students from class 6 to 10th standard in the state.Prajwala Foundation, led by Dr. Sunitha Krishnan will launch child safety and protection programmes for students from class 6 to class 12 across the state.Pi Jam Foundation will provide training in coding and computational thinking to students from class 1 to class 10.Educate Girls will take up the enrolment of over 16,000 out-of-school children to improve literacy and educational opportunities for girls.Government Advisor K. The subtle wooing of Tamil Nadu and what Radhakrishnan brings to the VP's table
Jagdeep Dhankar was from the northern part of India, and his likely successor in the Vice-President chair, CP Radhakrishnan, is from the south of the Vindhyas. But this geographical distinction alone isn't what, for all practical purposes, has promoted this soft-spoken leader, who is at present the Governor of Maharashtra, to the second most important constitutional position in the country. What is more important is that Dhankar and Radhakrishnan are as different as chalk from cheese. And the manner in which relations between the government and the former Vice President reportedly went south, leading to his sudden resignation on 'health' grounds, the BJP ain't going anywhere near the Dhankar template anytime. Rajya Sabha proceedings, which resembled a verbal joust with the opposition MPs everytime Dhankar was in the Chair, are likely to be a more mellow affair once Radhakrishnan is is no stranger to Parliament. His scorecard in Lok Sabha contests reads 2-3, having been fielded by the BJP five times from the Coimbatore Lok Sabha constituency, winning the first two times in 1998 and 1999. However, the next three ventures in 2004, 2014, and 2019 saw him on the losing would be fair to say that, like most Narendra Modi-Amit Shah decisions, Radhakrishnan's candidature as the NDA nominee was as unexpected as the unexpected election itself. It would be fair to assume that the RSS recommendation would have played a part in the elevation of this dyed-in-the-wool Sangh the Look South move helps the BJP shed its tag as a Hindi belt party, particularly with assembly elections in Tamil Nadu less than a year from now. Though M Venkaiah Naidu was India's Vice-President before Dhankar, the Telugu bidda was a familiar face in Delhi political circles and extremely comfortable with Hindi though with a distinct Telugu touch. Radhakrishnan's candidature comes at a time when the BJP, by insisting on the three-language policy, is accused of imposing Hindi on Tamil Nadu and will help blunt some of that the choice is also important politically when seen through the prism of Tamil Nadu state politics and is certain to be exploited by the NDA. Radhakrishnan belongs to the OBC Gounder community - the same as Edappadi Palaniswami and K Annamalai - and the BJP would hope his candidature will boost its chances in the community and in the western part of Tamil Nadu that borders Kerala which too goes to polls next summer. Even when he lost, Radhakrishnan always got more than 30 percent of the vote in Coimbatore - both with and without an alliance partner - and that is a pointer to his personal popularity in the industrial the same time, to assume that choosing a Tamilian would automatically tilt the scales in NDA's favour in Tamil Nadu would be to underestimate the voter. Beyond chairing the proceedings of the Rajya Sabha, the Vice-President's post is seen largely as an ornamental NDA pick also gives the BJP an opportunity to corner the DMK and see if the Dravidian party supports a fellow Tamilian. If MK Stalin chooses to sail with the India bloc's candidate, it would give the BJP a stick to beat the DMK with, in the Tamil Nadu election campaign. But it is significant to note that Radhakrishnan called on Stalin on August 11, ostensibly to enquire about the chief's minister' health and two days before that, DMK's Tuticorin MP Kanimozhi met the Prime minister this month to thank him for inaugurating the new terminal building at Tuticorin airport. In the light of Radhakrishnan's candidature, this has led to speculation that the ruling party in Chennai had been informed of the BJP move. If the BJP can persuade the DMK to break ranks with the India bloc, it would score a psychological victory over the the DMK can refuse to play ball with the BJP on ideological grounds, it would be a tad difficult given Radhakrishnan is not a hardliner like some other BJP leaders. He is seen more in the Vajpayee mould, soft-spoken and affable, helping him make friends across the political divide. In fact, his admirers call him the `Vajpayee of Coimbatore'.advertisementFinally, Dhankar came to the high office riding on the feisty relationship he had with the Trinamool Congress government in Bengal. In contrast, Radhakrishnan's tenure as Governor in Jharkhand, Maharashtra and Telangana (where he held additional charge) and as L-G of Puducherry, witnessed no the NDA has the numbers, Radhakrishnan's victory is a foregone conclusion.
