Orange Egypt has announced the opening of applications for the 15th edition of the Orange Social Venture Prize (OSVP) in 2025. The competition, with a total prize fund of €70,000, recognizes enterprises and startups that use technical innovation to find novel solutions to societal concerns. This demonstrates Orange's commitment to supporting entrepreneurship and contributing to social and economic development by incentivizing technical innovation focused at producing solutions that effect good change at the community and environmental levels.
The competition is divided into two phases. The first is the local phase, during which Orange Egypt will accept proposals from companies willing to participate in the competition platform via the URL (https://poesam.optimytool.com/en) until May 18, 2025. Then, a jury made up of entrepreneurial leaders and cadres, as well as Orange executives, will review the proposals and pick three winning local firms to advance to the competition's international round. They will compete against other qualifiers from different nations for three prizes for the top three winners: €25,000 for first place, €15,000 for second place, and €10,000 for third place.
For the fifth consecutive year, the competition has awarded a grand prize to female entrepreneurs to enhance women's participation in entrepreneurship in the region and to highlight Orange's commitment to supporting talented women in establishing startups and providing them with the necessary support to continue their journey and contribute to the development of their communities. Each local competition will pick up to three female-led or co-founded businesses to compete for the €20,000 "International Women's Prize".
For her part, Maha Nagy, Chief Communications Officer Orange Egypt, emphasized that Orange's 15-year commitment to organizing the competition demonstrates its belief in the importance of technological innovation and entrepreneurship in addressing societal challenges, as well as its belief in startups' ability to positively impact society.
She went on to say, "In view of the fast advancements in the technology industry and entrepreneurship, Orange is dedicated to offering a platform for financing and technical assistance for new initiatives that use technology to enhance society and the environment. We are proud of our competition's long history of supporting sustainable development and helping to create new solutions that improve people's lives in their communities".

Manchester City concluded a $150 million spending spree ahead of the Club World Cup by announcing the signing of Netherlands midfielder Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan on Wednesday. The 26-year-old Reijnders moved for an initial fee of 55 million euros ($63 million) and is the second midfielder — after France playmaker Rayan Cherki — to join City in the special June 1-10 transfer window created to allow sides in the 32-team Club World Cup to reshape their squads. Add this latest splurge to an outlay of more than $200 million in the winter transfer window and City has already spent at least $350 million on players in 2025 to provide manager Pep Guardiola with a squad capable of reclaiming the Premier League title from Liverpool. Breakthrough season Reijnders has just been named as the best midfielder in Serie A after a breakthrough campaign in which he scored 15 goals and added five assists across all competitions for Milan, which endured a dismal season and failed to qualify for Europe. He joined Milan from AZ Alkmaar in 2023 for a fee of around 20 million euros (then $22.4 million) and recently signed a contract extension through to June 2030. That's the length of his contract at City, too. City is releasing De Bruyne to end his 10-year stint at the club and now has Reijnders and Cherki to link up with Rodri in an enticing midfield set-up. Reijnders said he was 'ecstatic' to be joining City. 'It is also a dream come true to play in the Premier League,' he said. 'This league has seen many of the best Dutch players perform through the years and it's an inspiration to follow in their footsteps.' City director of football Hugo Viana said Reijnders — who specializes in being a ball-carrying midfielder — will add 'extra energy, composure and creativity to our midfield.' City announced the transfer of Reijnders a day after the special transfer window closed but appears to have signed him in time for him to play in the new-look, 32-team Club World Cup, which starts on Saturday. City is in the same group as Juventus, Al Ain and Wydad Casablanca and its first match is on June 18. Egypt to launch 5G services Wednesday - Economy
Four mobile network operators, Vodafone Egypt, Orange Egypt, e& Egypt, and Telecom Egypt, are set to offer the service to their customers after investing $2.7 billion in 5G spectrum and licenses since 2019. Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and a host of ministers are expected at the launch event held in the Pyramids area. 5G networks bring high-speed capabilities to telecom users, fostering innovation and development across various applications. They also enable the control of numerous devices simultaneously, a pivotal capability for revolutionary applications in smart cities, healthcare services, and other advanced applications. Last October, Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat stressed that 5G technology will transform the national economy, boosting ongoing digital transformation and improving its ranking in international indicators in the communications and information technology sector.
