Police investigate incident in Brantford's downtown core
Police are investigating an incident in Brantford's downtown area that prompted a significant road closure Saturday morning. Just before 5 a.m., the Brantford Police Service posted an update to social media saying Colborne Street was closed from Clarence Street to Alfred Street while officers responded to an active investigation in the area. Woman threatened with a crossbow in Chatham: CKPS
The Chatham-Kent Police Service has made an arrest after they said a woman was threatened with a crossbow in Chatham. Police received the report on Thursday. When they arrived on scene, they secured the area, setting up a containment around the home on Tweedsmuir Avenue West. Officers told those inside the home to leave, for safety reasons. The suspect, a 24-year-old man, refused to comply, according to police. A Conducted Energy Weapon was used and the man later surrendered. A further investigation showed the man had allegedly made other threats to people in the home, including pointing a loaded crossbow at them. Police said the suspect is currently bound by conditions, prohibiting the possession of weapons. The man is facing charges for:
