In a deeply alarming incident that raised serious safety concerns, a drunk man allegedly drove his car onto the platform of the Meerut Cantt railway station, narrowly missing the train during late night on Saturday, August 2, 2025. The video of the incident is now going viral on social media, with some making jokes about the incident, while others are slamming the civic sense of people.
Later, the man in the car was identified as Army personnel Sandeep Daka, who was reportedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. The incident triggered panic among passengers and raised questions over the security of the railway station.
As per the officials, the accused Sandeep Daka is a resident of Baghpat and is currently posted in Delhi, reports HT. The vehicle, a private car, breached security barriers and sped onto the station premises, eventually making its way onto the platform itself. Eyewitnesses said the car appeared out of nowhere and came within inches of a train that had just begun to move.

Accused has been booked by the Moradabad police
According to ToI, the incident unfolded in Uttar Pradesh and was captured on the CCTV camera, showing the car bearing a Jharkhand registration plate running through the platform area just inches away from the moving train.
GPR Inspector Vinod Kumar stated that Sandeep explained his actions by saying he was attempting to help his relatives catch a train to Delhi due to a medical emergency in the family. After missing the 'Yoga Express,' the family was heading home when they saw the 'Nauchandi Express' arriving.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday granted interim relief to YouTuber Elvish Yadav by staying proceedings against him in connection with the snake venom case.A bench led by Justice MM Sundresh issued notice on Yadav's petition challenging the FIR, chargesheet, and the summoning order passed by the trial court. The trial proceedings would not be allowed to procced in the meantime, the bench has approached the top court against the Allahabad High Court's order which had refused to quash the chargesheet and the trial court's cognisance of the case. 1 2 Pune: Pimpri Chinchwad police on Tuesday, arrested a 29-year-old criminal on police records and detained his three minor accomplices on the charge of thrashing and robbing a 30-year-old private security guard near Shinde Vasti in Ravet late on Sunday night. The gang threatened the victim with a sharp weapon and thrashed him with an umbrella before robbing Rs4,500 from him. The terrified victim approached the Ravet police on Tuesday and lodged a complaint against the suspects. "We took the suspect Akash Alhat into custody from Walhekarwadi in Chinchwad and detained his three minor accomplices," police sub-inspector Ajit Kakade of the Ravet police told TOI.
