Santa Rosa teen arrested for bringing 9mm Glock to school
(KRON) — A high school student in Santa Rosa was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly bringing a Glock 9mm handgun to school. According to police, the Santa Rosa Police Department got a tip that a student at Elsie Allen High School was possibly in possession of a handgun.
Police said an anonymous student advised school administrators that they believed a 16-year-old boy may have brought a firearm to school. Officers arrived as the lunch period was ending and students were returning to class Tuesday.

Officers were told by a school employee that the suspect was seen walking west toward the edge of campus.
According to Santa Rosa PD, officers and EAHS staff made their way to the student's location and saw the suspect with a friend sitting down on a curb with their backs turned. The responding officer, an SRPD sergeant, called the student's name as he approached.
The student, police said, stood up and turned around. According to police, he was wearing a black satchel across his chest. The student, police said, ran away through the middle of campus.
The officer pursued him as additional Santa Rosa PD officers arrived to assist. Officers surrounded and detained the student before he reached the edge of campus.
The student, police said, peacefully surrendered without incident. The Glock 9mm was found in his satchel, and a folding knife was found in his pants pocket.
The 16-year-old was arrested and booked into Juvenile Hall for the following charges:
Possession of a firearm on school grounds
Possession of a loaded firearm
Possession of ammunition on school grounds
Possession of a knife on school grounds
Obstructing peace officer in course of duties
Police say that there is no immediate threat to the safety of the school and that the investigation into why the student brought the handgun to school is ongoing.

Cynthia Ann Lamb, 58, of Plantersville, was arrested by the Mississippi Department of Corrections, violation of probation. Lee County Sheriff's Office The following reports were filed Friday by the Lee County Sheriff's Office. A County Road 2768, Baldwyn, man said a black dog has been running loose in the neighborhood for several days. He is concerned the dog will get hit by a car and that it does not have food, water and shelter. The deputy explained that there is no stray ordinance in the county. A County Road, 1463, Nettleton man said around five months ago, he had some people doing some work around his house. He thinks one of them stole his Glock 9mm pistol and three magazines that were in a box on top of a piece of furniture. He didn't notice the gun was missing until last Saturday. A Foster Road, Plantersville, man said he was driving down Palmetto Road when debris fell off a dump truck and shattered the driver's side window of his 2000 Chevy Malibu. He was unable to identify any markings on the truck. A County Road 1752, Saltillo, woman heard someone outside her residence around 9:15 p.m. She said it sounded like someone was removing tin from the side. Deputies responded but found no evidence that anyone had been on the property. San Jose fraud prevention expert charged with healthcare fraud
(KRON) — A woman who worked as a security manager at Nvidia and regularly spoke as an expert on fraud prevention was charged with submitting 167 fraudulent healthcare claims against the Santa Clara-based tech company, the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office announced Friday. Faranak Firozan, 47, is accused of submitting the fraudulent claims between November 2020 and January 2024 to Nvidia's self-insured health plan, according to prosecutors. The DA's office said that many of the claims were either entirely made up or that bills were altered by changing service dates. 'Providers verified that services listed in her claims were either not performed at all or were duplicated claims,' the DA's office wrote. The scheme began to unravel in August 2024, according to prosecutors, after the California Department of Insurance received a suspected fraudulent claim referral from Cigna, which administered Nvidia's health plan. Motorcyclist suffers 'life-changing injury' in San Jose hit-and-run 'On her LinkedIn page, Firozan described herself as an expert in abuse prevention systems and fraud investigations for financial institutions,' the DA's office wrote. 'In 2020, she provided training on cyber laundering for the Information Systems Security Association Silicon Valley Chapter.' Firozan was charged with altering medical records with fraudulent intent and preparing false statements in connection with insurance claims. She also faces an added aggravated white-collar crime enhancement. Firozan is scheduled to be arraigned on July 15. Oakland PD asks for help solving fatal shooting cold case
(KRON) – The Oakland Police Department is asking for public assistance in solving the fatal shooting of 24-year-old Bert Brigham III. Brigham's death occurred almost four years ago on July 18, 2021, in the 1900 block of Foothill Boulevard. Oakland business looted following anti-ICE protest OPD has released images of four male suspects in their 20s and vehicles that may be connected to the case (pictured below). Per OPD, a white Kia Optima, a blue Toyota Camry, and a dark Honda Accord were the cars associated with the suspects.
