Techie Commits Rs 1 Crore To Fix Bengaluru's Traffic: "I Am Willing To..."
Mr Pitti took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his idea, having grown frustrated after spending over two hours covering just 11 kilometres on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) over the weekend.
"I was stuck at one choke-point at ORR, where I spent 100 mins struggling to understand why there is no traffic-light or cop here! But I don't want one more 'Bengaluru Traffic Memes or Rant'. I WANT TO FIX IT," wrote Mr Pitti.
"I am willing to spend INR 1 Crore on this project by funding: 1-2 senior ML/AI engineers. And providing budget for using Google Maps API calls, Satellite Imagery & GPUs."
After receiving significant interest from users, Mr Pitti shared a Google form for individuals to contact him and share the expertise they can bring to the table.

As of the last update, the post had received over 4,000 likes and hundreds of comments, with the majority lauding the move whilst others exploring ways how the initiative could be implemented on the ground.
"Good initiative! Honestly, Bengaluru needs good roads, free from congestion," said one user while another added: "Fantastic commitment and it will be truly a replicable civic achievement in the making, when (and not IF) you succeed."
A third commented: "Better you contact MPs like @Tejasvi_Surya and @PCMohanMP atleast they may listen to you. Talking to the traffic police will give you no results."
A fourth said: "We need more citizens to be part of Namma Bengaluru Improvements. Thank you Prashant."
Being the tech capital of the country, Bengaluru's population has surged rapidly, with over 13 million residents and millions of vehicles clogging its roads. Narrow streets, inadequate public transport, and ongoing infrastructure projects exacerbate the issue.
Peak-hour commutes can stretch hours, impacting productivity and quality of life. Despite initiatives like metro expansions and traffic management apps, challenges persist due to poor urban planning and high vehicle density.

Tesla launches Model Y in India at Rs 59.89 lakh, deliveries from September
Mumbai: Tesla Tuesday entered the Indian car market, launching its Rs 59.89 lakh Model Y SUV, as Maharashtra rolled out a red carpet for the EV maker, urging it to go beyond imports and anchor its manufacturing and R&D base in the state. At an event to mark Tesla's formal entry, Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis made a strong pitch to the Elon Musk-led automaker, positioning the state as Tesla's long-term base. 'Mumbai and the people of India are going to love Tesla. But more than just being a big market, India is now a robust base for electric mobility manufacturing, especially Maharashtra. We invite Tesla to not just sell here, but to make it here,' he said. Fadnavis highlighted the state's 'most progressive' EV policies, with incentives for manufacturing, R&D, and charging infrastructure. Tesla, which has begun hiring for roles in charging infrastructure and government affairs, will initially sell its cars in Mumbai, with Delhi and Gurugram set to follow as its next retail markets. Model Y marks Tesla's first official product introduction in India after years of flipflop on entering the world's third-largest automobile market. The car is priced significantly higher than in markets like the US due to the 70-100% import duty levied on fully-built electric vehicles in India. Deliveries will begin in September, with imports currently routed through Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory. Tesla is targeting India's luxury EV segment which is still in its infancy but gaining traction. With a price tag going up to Rs 67.89 lakh for the long range, rear wheel drive version, Model Y will compete with premium offerings from BMW and Mercedes-Benz rather than mass-market brands like Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra. BMW currently leads the segment with EVs accounting for 18% of its total sales. EVs currently have a 12% penetration in the luxury car segment. Industry watchers view Tesla's move as a cautious toe-dip into a complex market. 'Considering that there is no trade agreement, this is aggressive pricing. Tesla's India narrative may change when bilateral trade agreements with the US or Europe are in place,' said Puneet Gupta, director, S&P Global Mobility. 'For now, they are testing the waters.' Tesla will also roll out its latest V4 Superchargers in India before vehicle deliveries begin. The first four charging hubs in Mumbai—at Lower Parel, BKC, Navi Mumbai, and Thane—will each house 16 Superchargers and 16 Destination Chargers. Every customer will receive a complimentary home wall charger with their purchase. "We are here to create the ecosystem, to invest in the necessary infrastructure including the charging infrastructure," Isabel Fan, a regional director at Tesla, said at the launch event. 'We are building from 0 to 100. It will take time to cover the whole country.' Globally, Tesla is under pressure. Sales have dipped in key markets such as Germany and France, while China has become intensely competitive amid domestic EV rivals. While Tesla has not confirmed any manufacturing commitments in India yet, industry insiders believe the company could transition to local assembly and eventually full-scale manufacturing, in phases. 'Tesla is not just entering a market—it's entering a partnership with a state and a nation committed to clean mobility,' Fadnavis said.

Mithi river desilting ‘scam': Court says no justification of ‘Rs 2.41 crore as CEO salary', rejects accused's bail plea
In a detailed order rejecting the bail plea of the main accused in the Mithi river desilting 'scam' case, a special court has considered that there was no document to show that the accused was given Rs 2.41 crore as salary as CEO to explain the transfer of money to his personal account. The court had on July 11 rejected bail to Ketan Kadam, the CEO of firm Virgo Specialities. The Mumbai Police had claimed that Kadam entered into a contract with a company — Maptrop Technical Services — which supplied machines in a manner which compelled contractors carrying out desilting of the river to hire the machines at an inflated rate, causing wrongful loss to the civic body Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). 'It appears from statement of Bhushan Salunke and ledger accounts statement of M/s. Virgo that the said company had transferred Rs 6 crores for purchase of the machines to MAPTROP Ltd. and out of that, Rs.2,41,20,000/- has been transferred in the personal account of the applicant (Kadam). Even though the Advocate for the applicant submitted that said amount is salary of the applicant as CEO, however there is no document for such justification for receiving such huge salary. Even there is no document showing that, how much monthly salary was agreed to be given by Virgo to the applicant,' special judge N G Shukla said in the order, which was made available on Tuesday. The case against Kadam and others including BMC officials is that while tenders were issued for desilting of the Mithi river from 2019 to 2024, conditions were inserted in the terms of agreement to compel contractors to hire machines from the company linked to Kadam. He denied this, claiming that contractors were free to purchase machines from other companies as per the tender documents. One of the allegations against Kadam is that he incurred expenses of flight tickets and lodging of three BMC officials from his bank account for visits to Delhi for demonstration of the machines, as was submitted by additional public prosecutor Chaitrali Panshikar. 'If applicant would have acted merely as an employee, he had no reason to spent money from his personal account on flight tickets and hotel expenses of BMC officers prior to execution of tripartite agreement (MOU) and Agreement of Hire with the contractors. This clearly shows involvement of applicant as a conspirator in setting terms and conditions of the tenders in a manner of compelling the contractors to hire the machines from Virgo. There was preplan of applicant to purchase machines by setting the terms of tenders, therefore, he has incurred said expenses,' the court said, referring to the agreement which said that the supplier can only rent machines from Virgo. Kadam had referred to terms and conditions, claiming no such compulsion to hire was imposed. The court also said that prima facie, there is proof that Kadam had personally gained from the contractors through shell companies, calling him the key person in the conspiracy who acted as intermediary with the BMC. 'Investigation is still in progress and statements of number of the witnesses, including the high ranking BMC officers, are yet to be recorded. Considering influencing personality of applicant, if released on bail, he may influence witnesses and create hurdle in investigation,' the court said. The Enforcement Directorate has also this week sought permission to record Kadam's statement in jail in connection with its own probe into the case.

Anand Mahindra welcomes Elon Musk's Tesla to India, shares 2017 post: 'See you at charging station'
Indian billionaire Anand Mahindra has rolled out a red carpet for Elon Musk's Tesla, as the electric vehicle (EV) giant officially enters the Indian market. Mahindra, the chairman of Mahindra Group, took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to welcome Tesla, emphasising the importance of competition. Along with welcoming the company, Mahindra also shared a screenshot of a 2017 exchange between him and Elon Musk. In that post, Musk had lauded India's commitment to sell only electric vehicles by 2030 and its status as the largest market for solar power. Responding to that, Mahindra said, 'Time you got here Elon. You don't want to leave the whole market to Mahindra do you? The more the merrier and greenier.' In the latest X post, Mahindra stated, 'Welcome to India, @elonmusk and @Tesla,' adding that 'One of the world's largest EV opportunities just got more exciting.' The Indian businessman also stated, 'Looking forward to seeing you at the charging station.' Mahindra's welcome post received mixed reactions from X users. While some users claimed that Tesla would find it difficult to sell cars to the price-conscious Indian buyers, others praised Tesla for its advanced technology and envisioned its rapid growth in the near future. A user pointed out that Fortuner sold approximately 29,000 units last year in India at ₹ 35–55L. Will people really buy a Tesla starting at ₹ 60L? Conflicting comments on Anand Mahindra's post. Another X user mirrored the statement by saying, 'Tesla's arrival won't make much of a difference; only a few rich people will be able to afford it.' Contrary to the negative comments, a user said, 'Tesla will not just sell EV! It will integrate EV with xAI(Trained on Indian data as well as world data). This is where Indian EV manufacturers will lack and lose the EV battle unless a heavy in-house AI system gets developed.' Tesla has officially started its operations in India with the inauguration of its first showroom, the 'Tesla Experience Centre', in Mumbai's prominent Bandra Kurla Complex. The company has launched its premium SUV, the Model Y, with prices starting around ₹ 61 lakh (on-road).
