Liam Neeson lashes out at tardy actors
The 73-year-old actor revealed he has heard 'disturbing stories' about stars who show up late for filming and insisted he would 'never work with those people'.
He told Rolling Stone magazine: 'That's very important. I hear disturbing stories about actors and actresses who are very gifted, but show up on the set two, three, four hours late. I would never work with those people. I think it's so insulting. You have a crew of like 60, 70, 80 people waiting for you. The very least you can do is give them the respect by turning up on time.'
Meanwhile, Liam has pivoted to comedy with his new movie Naked Gun and admitted he thinks his action hero days are now behind him.
He told Variety: 'The first Taken was 18 years ago, I was 54. Feels like a lifetime ago. I still get offered the occasional one. But I'm 73, for f***'s sake. I don't want to insult audiences if they're watching whole fight scenes and it's not me. I just wouldn't do it. Up until recently, I liked doing my own fight stuff. But I don't want to be doing that stuff with a Zimmer frame or walking stick. Sure, there might be another one out there, but nothing definite on the horizon.'
However, there is one genre of movie he will never do.
He said: 'I'm a big believer in writers and the script. That's the foundation stone, no matter what the genre. Except horror. I won't do horror.'

David Byrne found it 'fun' to write music for upcoming movie The Twits. The Talking Heads musician, 72, teamed up with Hayley Williams, 35, for a new musical collaboration on , Netflix's forthcoming animated adaptation of the classic Roald Dahl book, which is due to be released on 17 October. It marks the latest in a series of Dahl adaptations by the streaming platform. David told Variety: 'This was a fun project. Like other Roald Dahl books, this one has its share of dreadful characters – this time two of them are front and centre. 'Kids (and adults) love that they can vicariously imagine their own worst impulses played out, harmlessly, in a punky fun story. 'So when I was approached to write some songs for this movie I immediately said, 'Let me give it a try and see if you like what I come up with'.' Alongside the original score, David has written and produced three songs – We're Not Like Ev'ryone Else, Lullaby and The Problem Is You – performed by the film's cast. He also co-wrote the end credits track Open the Door with Hayley. The pair previously recorded together for David's upcoming album Who Is the Sky?, and have covered each other's songs in the past. David added he reached out to Hayley specifically to work on The Twits. He said: 'She was inspired by the story and came up with some lyric ideas.' Hayley said in a joint chat with David for Variety: 'Being a part of this movie is like one pinch-me moment after another. 'My favorite Roald Dahl book growing up was The Twits. I'm drawn to learning about twisted characters like Mr and Mrs Twit and the Wormwoods from Matilda. 'The way Phil and Daisy adapted the original story was really exciting to me, as was the animation style. I owe David Byrne for pulling me into the music for this. It was so fun and so surreal starting a song from scratch with him.' Directed by Phil Johnston, 52, and co-written with Meg Favreau, the film tells the story of Mr and Mrs Twit – billed as 'the meanest, smelliest, nastiest people on the face of the earth' – and their battle against two brave children and a family of magical Muggle-Wumps. The voice cast includes Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, 22, Ryan Lopez, 25, Timothy Simons, 46, Nicole Byer, 38, Jason Mantzoukas, 51, Alan Tudyk, 54, Mark Proksch, 46, Rebecca Wisocky, 53, and 37-year-old Charlie Berens. Comic Johnny Vegas, 54, and Margo Martindale, 73, voice the Twits, alongside Emilia Clarke, 38, and 43-year-old Natalie Portman. 'From the first demo he sent me, on which the featured instrument was a 100-year-old banjolele, I knew I was going to love the songs he wrote. ‘Isn't what I would have done': The Naked Gun creator David Zucker reacts to Liam Neeson's reboot
The Naked Gun creator David Zucker has offered his support for the reboot's director Akiva Schaffer, even if the movie 'isn't really what [he] would have done'. The 77-year-old filmmaker helmed the original Leslie Nielsen-starring comedy series, and Zucker is glad to see the new Naked Gun is performing well at the box office - opening with $17 million domestically - and has praised director Schaffer for his work. Zucker told The Hollywood Reporter: 'I'm excited about it because it just shows that there's a strong market for comedy in movie theaters, and spoof in particular. 'People are liking it, which is great. I really like the director, and I just couldn't wish him more well. 'I texted him already, saying, 'I hear the reviews are great, and it's tracking well.' He was very happy to hear from me, and we'll probably get together later in the month when the smoke clears.' Zucker had initially worked on a script for a fourth Naked Gun movie with Pat Proft and Mike McManus - which would have focused on Frank Drebin's (Nielsen) 30-something-year-old son - though Paramount Pictures ultimately chose to move ahead without the original creators for the reboot. As a result of feeling burned, Zucker said he had no plans to watch The Naked Gun in the cinema. He explained: 'I'm not gonna see it, but I don't see any of the sequels that were of my material done by other people, and that's fine. I've told Akiva that I have no intention to see it. 'He actually invited me to come see an early cut of it, but I told him there's nothing I could do to help because it really isn't what I would have done. 'That's not to say that he didn't actually end up doing a good movie. But I don't think I could help with that.' Zucker added he didn't want to be credited as an executive producer for The Naked Gun, even though Paramount had offered him just that. He said: 'I won't take credit on anything that I didn't work on from the beginning. I don't need the money. 'After the agents and managers, it would have paid three electric bills, probably. If it's a big hit, Akiva should get the credit, and he deserves it.' Zucker hopes the success of The Naked Gun will give momentum to his movie that was initially planned to be the fourth Naked Gun film, though is now titled Counterintelijence. However, the director wishes the best for The Naked Gun and is glad producer Seth MacFarlane spoke with him shortly after the reboot's script was finished. Zucker said: 'He spent the first 10 minutes telling me how much he loved Airplane, The Naked Gun and Top Secret. 'I can't get mad at anyone who will tell me what a genius I am. That was a good conversation. I was glad that Seth called, but I told him politely, 'Good luck, but I can't put my name on this.' [But] everything happens for a reason.' In The Naked Gun, rookie detective Frank Drebin Jr. (Liam Neeson) stumbles into his first big case, and a complicated romance with bombshell Vinessa (Pamela Anderson), while trying to stop a criminal conspiracy. Chaos, clueless heroics, and classic slapstick follow in his father's footsteps.
