Sultan Bin Ahmed visits Family Guidance Centre
He toured the various departments and facilities of the centre, which provides vital services to families and society.
The centre is considered the first line of defence for protecting the family from anything that threatens its stability, including disputes and social problems among its members, which can lead to disintegration and disruption affecting all family members.
This is achieved through the centre's mission of reconciliation, preserving family cohesion and stability, and working to resolve all challenges facing families.
The Chairman of the Judicial Council inspected several departments within the centre related to judicial procedures, such as the enforcement department and the documentation department.
He listened to a detailed explanation of the various and integrated services provided by these departments to the public. The centre seeks to resolve disputes between family members before resorting to the courts, using amicable methods, formal pledges, or approved agreements. This helps prevent disputes from escalating to litigation and enables issues to be settled in a way that preserves social relationships for the benefit of the family.
Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed attended part of a workshop titled Marital Life Vitamins, which is one of the ongoing initiatives aimed at spreading awareness among family members and resolving problems.
The workshop promotes the use of various methods to prevent conflicts and provides numerous solutions for family members.
During the visit, Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed was introduced to the centre's objectives, roles, and awareness activities in which it participates across various events. He also reviewed several statistics concerning cases received by the centre and the reconciliations achieved.
The centre handled 1,356 cases that were successfully resolved through reconciliation procedures.
Separately, Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed, chaired the Judicial Council on Wednesday afternoon at the Sharjah Government Legal Department.
At the start of the meeting, Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed welcomed everyone and acknowledged their hard work in maintaining and improving the legal services offered to the public with honesty and openness.
During the meeting, several important topics were discussed as part of the ongoing efforts to make the legal system better, improve the efficiency of the courts, and ensure social support for families.
The Council decided to establish the Family Court as a specialised court to help families and their members. They've assigned the Judicial Inspection Department to create rules that will improve family stability and support. Additionally, the Council has set up a committee responsible for managing funds belonging to children and others in similar circumstances.
This committee will develop a financial plan to ensure that these funds are handled wisely and protected, always keeping the best interests of the children in mind. They will also provide the Council with regular updates on their activities.
The Council decided to establish a new fund to assist individuals in obtaining urgent alimony payments when they truly need them, particularly women and children. This fund will step in when it's difficult to obtain payments from the person responsible, such as a husband or father, due to legal reasons or financial constraints.
This initiative aims to provide better support and fairness for families in the emirate. The money given out by the fund will eventually be collected from the person who is supposed to pay the alimony.
The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Judicial Council, Judge Dr. Mohammed Obaid Al Kaabi, Chairman of the Judicial Department; Dr. Mansour Bin Nassar, Chairman of the Sharjah Government Legal Department; Judge Ahmed Abdullah Al Mulla, President of the Court of Cassation; Counsellor Anwar Amin Al Harmoudi, Attorney General and Head of the Public Prosecution Authority; Judge Dr. Salama Rashid Salem Tamim Al Ketbi, Chairman of the Judicial Inspection Department; Judge Abdulrahman Sultan Bin Taliah, Chairman of the Courts of Appeal; Judge Dr. Omar Obaid Al Ghoul, Chairman of the Courts of First Instance; and Sheikh Faisal bin Ali bin Abdullah Al Mualla, Secretary-General of the Judicial Council.

UN official: Israel plan to control Gaza risks 'another calamity'
UN official issues grave warning UN Assistant Secretary-General Miroslav Jenca warned the Council that implementing Israel's plans would likely spark 'another calamity' in Gaza, with widespread repercussions. He stressed the risk of further displacement, destruction, and loss of life, warning that the fallout would not remain confined to Gaza. Britain voices concern over escalation James Kariuki, Britain's deputy ambassador to the UN, echoed these warnings, saying the Israeli operation would prolong the war and deepen Palestinian suffering. 'This is not a path to resolution. It is a path to more bloodshed,' he said, emphasizing the UK's concern despite its close ties with Israel. Netanyahu rejects occupation claims In response to growing criticism, Prime Minister Netanyahu insisted on Sunday that Israel's intentions were not to occupy Gaza. He said the aim was to bring the war to a close swiftly, adding, 'We are talking in terms of a fairly short timetable.' Palestinian and Israeli UN Ambassadors clash Palestinian UN ambassador Riyad Mansour condemned the Israeli plan, stating it runs 'in total contradiction to the will of the international community.' Meanwhile, Israel's UN ambassador Danny Danon defended the country's actions, saying that securing the release of hostages and ensuring national safety remains Israel's top priority. Protests outside UN Headquarters Outside the UN building in New York, a small but vocal protest took place, calling for an end to the conflict. A significant police presence was observed during the demonstration, reflecting tensions surrounding the emergency session. US stance likely to shield Israel While most Council members voiced concern, the United States—Israel's key ally and a permanent member with veto power—is expected to prevent any binding UN measures against Israel, further complicating international efforts to curb the escalation.
